Mac Pro :: Does OS X Support Logitech QuickCam Ultra Vision / UV SE?

Jan 12, 2008

I am about to move from my maxed out iMac to a 8-core Mac Pro and was looking for some advice from those who have experience with webcams and Leopard OS. I have been researching and found references to USB video class (UVC) and through digging and some links from Wikipedia it "appears" the Logitech QuickCam Ultra Vision and Ultra Vision SE should be support, but does anyone on here actually have on and can comment on compatibility?

Hardware :: Get Webcam Logitech QuickCam Ultra Vision Pro

Sep 25, 2009

I'm trying to decide to get this webcam "Logitech QuickCam Ultra Vision Pro". But, I'm wondering if it will work under windows if I install boot camp or parallels 4. Why this statement, is because since it is only compatible with Mac will it work only under the Mac OS. So if anybody has it and works in both OS's it will be kind of you to let me know before I jump and buy it.

Hardware :: Logitech Quickcam Vision Pro As Flash Webcam?

Mar 24, 2010

I need a webcam for my Mac Pro. I'm currently running Leopard but plan to upgrade to Snow Leopard soon. I'm looking at the Logitech Quickcam Vision Pro, but I've read reviews that say it works well in applications like iChat and Skype, but isn't recognized as a webcam by Adobe Flash Player for use on Flash chat websites like [URL] and [URL]. I really need a webcam that is recognized and compatible with Flash Player. Can anyone with a Logitech Quickcam Vision Pro confirm whether it works through Flash player on sites like tinychat or stickam? If not, can anyone recommend a webcam that works well on a Mac for Flash-driven sites like these?

Hardware :: What's Difference Between Logitech QCP 9000 And Vision Pro Webcams

May 15, 2009

I note that Logitech are marketing their Vision Pro webcam as "for Mac", and yet from what I've seen of the specs, it's just a QuickCam Pro 9000 with a different colour activity light - and of course, the QCP 9000 works on a Mac just like any other UVC-compliant webcam. Is there actually any substantive difference between the cameras, or is it really just a marketing exercise?

OS X :: Quickcam For Mac Not Recognized By Instant Messenger Chat

Mar 7, 2010

I have recently bought a Logitech Quickcam Pro 9000 for Mac. If I connect the cam then I can find it back in "About this Mac - More Info - USB" as Logitech webcam. I also can use it in iChat. But when I log in on an Instant Messenger Chat, the Adobe Flash Player settings only recognise the iSight as webcam...not the Logitech. The Apple help desk directed me to Logitech and Logitech told me that it is somewhere in the apple programs.

MacBook Pro :: VISION ISSUE 20/40 CORRECTED (Matte Vs Glossy)?

Apr 24, 2010

As the title of the thread says I have 20/40 Vision CORRECTED. I would like to know from Dr's or people with experience which is better? I'm leaning towards matte due to the glare of the glossy. I currently have a XPS 1640 1366x768 and the glare can get annoying! I'm concerned however about the 1680x1050 on the 15" Should I get the glossy slandered then? (lowering doesn't work - fuzzy images) I've been reading the forums like no other The contrast is better for the glossy then for the matte. Is that what I should focus on?

Mac Pro :: 2008 Versus Sun Ultra 40

Nov 24, 2009

This is more a hardware related questions, OS X doesn't play a big role:

I have the chance to buy a Sun Ultra 40 for about 600$ (2x2.4 Opteron, 8 GB RAM, 500GB SATA HDD, Raid Controller, 8800 GTS) or for 1600$ a MacPro (2008 model, 2x2.66 DualCore Xeon, 3GB RAM, 250GB HDD).

It'll be my private machine which I use for private software development (WPF/Silverlight) (so I'm not in an environment where even the time for compiling is money which can be saved :-)). Also I don't use it for playing games or similar.

Applications :: Ultra Fast PDF Reader?

Oct 2, 2010

I've got a PDF of a large map that's 23MB, 150" x 130". I cut out segments as needed using the select tool in Preview, copying and pasting it to a new document, which I save as a PNG. Not the most elegant solution, but it works. The trouble is, Preview chokes on it. Zooming is slow, and it takes 15 seconds to copy a selection, and another 15 to paste it into a new image. I've made 5 individual maps so far in this session, and Preview is using 1.44GB of RAM. Is there another tool that would be faster for cutting up a large PDF? It has to stay a PDF in the large form, because it has searchable text I use to find the region needed.

This is very annoying and I have no idea what it could be. I don't really know what it does but I did some research and some people in other places recommended clearing the cache and I did. Nothing works, no reboots, no unpluggs, nothing.

Hardware :: Old Ultra ATA Drives - Insert In An External Case?

Aug 22, 2009

Quick background. My old g4 DP 1 ghz died. I now have a new 24" iMac. The old G4 has three internal drives - all ATA. Though I backed up everything and am okay with that, the old machine will not start up (constant kernal panics and other issues). I have a few old external FW drives. What I am wondering is this - can I install any of these internal drives into one of my old external drives? Can I buy just a "case" of an external drive and do this?

Why? Well, one, just for fun. Two, I don't want to dispose of this computer with nearly 1 TB of my data including taxes, quicken, email... you name it.

Hardware :: About Logitech G9 Mouse On MAC?

Dec 19, 2010

The thing is that Logitech G9 Mouse doesn't have MAC supported drivers provided by the manufacturer and that leads to most of the delicate functions of the mouse not being available. (e.g. Side mouse buttons 4 & 5, DPI changing +/-)
Logitech Control Center (LCC) for MAC does not let you configure it at all of course either. (since it's not even recognised/available)
So after reading a few posts about the matter...it turned out that you "should" normally be able to configure all the mouse's basic buttons (apart from DPI changing) with "SteerMouse".

But even after using that program my Side Mouse buttons number 4 and 5 were not even recognised (using the program a bit urselves should give you a clear idea of what i mean). I even used the "reconnect" button several times (button used for exactly such occasions), unplugged and plugged-in again the mouse, restarted MAC but with no effect...

If anyone knows what could be wrong then i would be more than grateful to hear some possible solutions to the problem.thank you in advance.

P.S. No i m not using "USB overdrive" at the moment and it's 100% certain that it is unistalled completely.

Mac Pro :: Configure Logitech Mouse?

Feb 18, 2008

After 2 days of playing around with the new apple keyboard and mighty mouse, I thought, that's enough, and connected my logitech keyboard + mouse.

The keyboard is a big improvement, it has both windows and apple keys on it, and has a lot of extra features, like for example being able to press the 'print screen'. Even the mouse seems to work better, could ajust to the right clicking of the mighty mouse, sometimes it works, sometimes it didn't.

One think I'm still looking for is how to disable the display of widgets when you press the mouse wheel. I tried steermouse, it lets me configure the mouse wheel click as third button, but that doesn't change anything, I tried to run LCC (Logitech Control Center?) but it only showed me my keyboard.

I know how to change the keyboard shortcuts, but can't find the mouse shortcuts?...
