I bought a MBA 13" last month and now I'm trying to connect an external monitor through a Mini Display Port-to-HDMI adapter and most of the times the display shows a message "No signal detected"...
I've tried all the possible combinations between the MAC and the Monitor but it would seem a random matter.

View 3 Replies View RelatedHow many of you would like to see a HDMI Port? Why the miniDisplay port? Why not remove ethernet jack and miniDisplay port and replace it with a HDMI port. That way one HDMI cable feeds digital video AND audio. Am I the only one thinking of this?

I have just purchased a new Mac Mini (MC816B/A), it is to replace an old PC. The PC is running two monitors through a dual display graphics card, and in the short term I'd like to use these until I can afford Apple displays.
The back of the Mini has an HDMI port, Firewire and a Thunderbolt port. How can I use my two regular displays (they are TFT and have VGA and DVI connections)? There are also 4 x USB ports as well.
I have a fresh install of Windows XP, service pack 2 on a boot camp partition on my macbook (13" first gen aluminum case) and a Apple LED Cinema Display attached to the mini display port.
I can't seem to make the Cinema Display the primary display (the "Use this device as the primary monitor" checkbox is always greyed out in the Display Property Settings tab). I also can't shut the macbook lid and continue to use it closed (with kb, mouse and monitor attached) like I would when booting OSX.
Is there some other way to make the Cinema Display the primary monitor, so I can leave the macbook closed when booting into Windows?
i just bought a mini display port to hdmi adapter, an HDMI to HDMI cable, and an audio cable for my 2008 unibody macbook (Snow Leopard). I've been trying to use my 26" 720p Sanyo [URL] as a monitor to display my computer so I can watch things that I have on my computer. When I plug it into HDMI one like I'm suppose to, it doesn't work- but you see static and it flickers sometimes. Was I only suppose to get mini display port to DVI then DVI to HDMI?
Notes: If i plug it into the second HDMI adaptor( doesn't say DVI) and set it to 720p then i get a fuzzy picture that is displayed correctly (You can see the entire status bar)
I have a 2009 white macbook. I want to connect it to my Samsung LED 6000 series tv. What I have the the apple mini display port to vga adapter. What would be the better choice in regards to picture quality and overall performance?
Also, Im having trouble connecting the Audio. I have 1.8 stereo mini to RCA cables. Would I even need to worry if I go the HDMI route because I read that HDMI carry audio.

View 11 Replies View RelatedI am new here, I have been watching the forum but have not needed to post until now. I have a june 2.8 MBP running snow leopard and I am having problems with Mini DP to HDMI. I have a convertor to go direct to hdmi from mini dp but when I use it to watch movies the color is really dark. It is almost unwatchable.
It is not a hardware thing because when I boot into windows 7 I can watch the same file with the same hardware with no issue with darkness.
I was wondering if anyone has come across this issue in snow leopard. I have searched mroogle as well as good and could not find anything.
I just ordered a new 15" mbp, and a 24" Dell ultrasharp with display port. I am a bit confused about the cables I need. The Dell monitor arrived with some interesting looking cables that look like they might be displayport - but the mbp looks much smaller (mini). I have searched amazon and apple stores looking for the cable or adapter that I need, but I am not clear. I assume I can get the mini displayport to dvi or HDMI, but that seems silly when my monitor supports displayport ...
View 5 Replies View RelatedI purchased a mini display port to HDMI. I attached the HDMI end into the back of my TV in the HDMI input 2 section. Then I attached the other end of the mini display port into the back of my IMac desktop. Nothing is happening. I went online to follow directions which told me to go into my 'System Preferences', then click 'Display' and then click the 'Arrangements' tab that would appear. However no arrangements tab appears. Did I buy the right cord?

I have a new MacBook Pro 17" computer. I want to play a DVD through the computer to a Toshiba 26" flat screen TV, using a mini port to HDMI.
At first nothing happened, then after much fiddling I got the Apple Spiral Galaxy image on the TV and my usual desktop on the computer. I then discovered that I can move the cursor from my desktop across to the right, where it disappears from my computer screen and appears on the left side of the spiral galaxy on the TV. So it's like I have two side-by-side screens, the Apple galaxy on the left, my computer on the right. In addition, I keep my dock on the right side and it's barely visible on the right side of the galaxy screen.
Incidentally if I play the DVD I can drag and drop it to the right so it slides off of my computer and onto the galaxy. But I know that's not the real solution.

I have tried this adapter on two macs at home, a Macbook Pro and an iMac, all latest models, running 10.6.2. Whenever I try putting it to sleep, the Mac wakes up after about 3 seconds.

So, I'm looking for a mini displayport to HDMI adapter that supports sound. No extra USB or 3,5mm jack for sound.
It also would be nice if the product was available in Europe (Netherlands) otherwise the shipping cost are just too high.
