i just got a mac mini with lion, and try to hooked it to LG LED monitor.in a few minutes, it works normally, but a message displayed "saving mode" on the screen when i inserted an external storage thru USB port.it goes sleep and no response to reawaked.

On a Mac OS X 10.4.11. laptop. ISP provider is Comcast. Have successfully been sending and receiving emails at home no problem using Entourage for two years. Have now taken laptop to visit away from home and clicked into the host's house wifi system - AT&T u-vers.
Entourage will now receive but not send emails. Receive 3259 error message about timing out. However, can send fine by going to Comcast's site, therefore Comcast insists this is not their problem but an Entourage problem, probably with settings.
When i unpacked it find that the home internet very slow and disconnected from other computer i thouht there is a virus came with it formatted it and tried to install from internet but was not able to download then received this error message apple.com/support .21 00F

My iMac displays a message that says the memory run out of space and this do not allow me to work with some of my apps. The problem is that i do not have installed data that can fill 500 GB... in the apple menu - about this mac - the storage status shown in yellow as other takes 499 GB of the space but I don't have this kind of data or it is something that I cannot see.

I am getting this error "The operation can’t be completed because an unexpected error occurred (error code -50)." when I try to transfer files from my Mac Mini to my External Harddrive which is connected to my Airport Extreme. " The error does not appear to happen all the time. It does seem consistent if I am transfering files and then try to transfer more.
The files I am transferring are .mp4. It does not appear to care about the size of the file, it happens with small files and large files, I can transfer some large folders (2.54G). I can connect the hard-drive externally directly to the mac mini and it will transfer any file.

A year ago I started getting a "start up disk is almost full" message. I got an external hard drive and set up iTunes so all of my music went directly to the external drive. That worked for a while. Now I'm getting the message again. Can I do the same thing with iPhoto? So all of the photos that get loaded onto my machine automatically go to the external drive? I can't remember how I set it up with iTunes. Also I don't think podcasts are going to the external, only music.

I did not want it necessarily for backup purposes, but rather I wanted to be able to store music, docs, etc. that I might want to access in the future, but want to remove from my computer for now.
Should I use Time Machine? Will time machine let me access my hard drive to obtain certain files when needed? Or is Time Capsule's sole purpose to backup everything on my computer?

I want to move all the movies/music I currently have on my 1TB internal PC Harddrive to an external solution that I can access with my MBP, which I plan to make my primary computer. Mind you that this drive is only going to be for storage of music/movies, not backup/recovery. I need at least 2TB out of the gate.

I have read that if using large file formats (yes - RAW) perhaps the way to go is something like Sonnet Temp SATA Express 34. There is a lot of 'talk' of Western Digital My Book but these only seem to be USB. Now I am a little confused - am I restricted (device wise) if I go Express 34 as it appears to have a specific I/F? I do not have a limitless budget and have seen external storage devices between �50 - �100. On a winXP machine it seems almost any will do but I'm not familiar with the mac world.

I figured that because my Macbook Air (and it's limited storage space) was the reason for my needing an external HD I thought this would be the best place. My MBA has run out of storage and I bought a Seagate External HD to move my stuff onto. I guess my question is: What's the best way to combine the external HD with the MBA? Here are a few of the things on my mind:
-Most of the space is taken up by my user folder right now such as itunes, photos, etc. If I copy that folder to the external drive it would alleviate a large part of my issue, at least for the time being. Eventually I will hit the storage capacity as I add applications over time I guess, so this is a temporary solution (although I free up 27gb of space this way). Can I designate a folder on the external drive as the default for programs like imovie and iphoto like I can with itunes?
-I KNOW there is a way to set the external drive as some kind of default drive but is this feasible? It would be a hinderance if I needed to have it connected at all times to access even applications (which I assume to be the case?
-I also wondered about partitioning the external HD and using one partition for additional storage and the other for time machine? It's a 1TB hard drive, and I figure I could make a 100GB partition to use with time machine (my MBA only has a 64gb capacity) and use the other 900GB for files. Is this even possible or does time machine need it's very own separate drive? Anyway, this doesn't necessarily ask many specific questions and I apologize if it appears a little disjointed. I'm looking for help and opinions on the best way to use this new piece of equipment to compliment my MBA.

I'm considering to get Time Capsule for my home network which consist of:
- One MBP (15" Unibody)
- Two Windows XP desptops (connected via Ethernet cable)
- One Windows Vista laptop
Could any Mac users help answer my queries below:
1) Since I'm going to use Time Capsule as backup storage for Time Machine. Can I still manually copy files into its HDD and share those files with other network users?
2) Can all Windows PCs use Time Capsule as a external storage for storing and sharing files even after Time Machine has "marked" it as a backup storage for my MBP?
3) I presume the HDD in Time Capsule is formatted using HFS+. In this situation, do Windows users need to install special software to access the HDD in Time Capsule?
I finally decided that I need something were to save my photos and music. All my DB of music and photos is consuming lots of my disk space at my imac (just 350GB) what should I buy? Any ideas on what brand and good external HDD?? would it be smart having a mini server instead?

I have an Icy Dock with a 1TB harddrive in it, but it only has eSATA and USB ports. USB would not be preferable for trying to back up stuff. I was reading these forums about eSATA ExpressCards, but they seem really suspect (kernel panics sound terrifying) and a lot of work to get going. I was thinking about just getting another enclosure with FireWire 800, but can't seem to find any advice on good ones. I was wondering if I should just get a new external harddrive. I would like to get out of this without having to buy too much new stuff. Can somebody give a recommendation regarding whether I should get an expresscard, new enclosure, or new external?

I am trying to organize my external storage for a new iMac with an 500G SSD drive. I have a new thunderbolt G-Raid drive and an aging Airport Time Capsule. I was thinking of storing music and pictures, as well as a Time Machine backup of the SSD, and storing a Time Machine backup of my music and pictures on the Time Capsule. Will I need to partition the G-Raid?
