I am trying to use a magic jack plus without plugging into my mac. (It will work plugged directly into the computer but I bought it so I would not have to keep my mac on all the time to use the phone).What do I need to get a separate modem. I am on air port express (an old one)

I have this nifty device called a "Magic Jack" [URL] which turns any USB port on any internet-connected computer into a hard phone line.
I'm now behind a network at school, and it's not working properly.
Customer service says that I need to "open ports such and such, and forward them to my IP"... but they don't know how to do that with a mac.
I got my 2010 Mac Mini like 4 days ago , And you can see the spec on my signature... Now the thing is that i got 4GB Ram, And lately it happens a lot that the computer is just using RAM For nothing. For example if i go to the Activity monitor i can see there's only 1GB Ram and 3GB Ram is used. Now i really don't understand on what. Everything open me for me is the Google Chrome browser. And even if i close it it changes only a little. and i can actually feel the Mac OSX Is being slower... I wonder what wouldn't upgrade my Mac Mini and i would stuck with 2GB Ram.
Another issue i'm having is with the Magic Mouse, Lately it just becomes very very slow and i have to re-connect it to work fast as normal.
i upgraded my imac hard drive to a 2tb drive. how do i use time machine to get my computer back to normal?

I have to press the button on the bottom and get the Bluetooth to find my mouse again everytime, but then it works fine. The battery level is at 93%. It loses the mouse connection every time the computer goes to sleep. I even set the mouse as a favorite, and it did nothing.

But often the coloured spinning wheel starts up especially after trying to use iphoto it freezes and a couple of times the screen has then gone black. View 6 Replies View RelatedJust got new imac 27 inch, trying to connect a casio ctk 1100 musical keyboard through the 3.5mm input jack on the back, it seems to register in the sound preference screen but no sound is heard through the imac speakers, i want to use it with garageband but this doesent see the keyboard, am i missing something here or do i need some sort of input device, the keyboard only has a 3.5mm output jack.

My headphone jack fails intermittently. I have speakers hooked up to it and sometimes sound will not play through the speakers. Even if I disconnect the speakers and plug in headphone sound does still not play through the headphones. I have even tried restarting and that does not work. In my system preferences (In Sound Panel) it shows that something is connected to the headphone jack. I have already had the entire logic board replaced once (under warranty) and that seemed to fix the problem for a couple months. If I wait about a day or less magically the speakers start working again. This has happend twice. Has anyone else had this problem? I have about 2 weeks left on my warranty. It almost seems like it is a software problem now, but I am not sure.

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy macbook pro laptop recently died and I am trying to access its time machine backup data through Finder on a different computer. In each one of my folders from different dates, however, the majority of the computer folders I would like to access (i.e. desktop, documents, dropbox, etc) have a little red "no" sign in the corner and prompt the following message when selected:
"The folder “FolderName” can’t be opened because you don’t have permission to see its contents"
How can I gain permission to see its contents? As the former user, I know whatever passwords are restricting these files, but I don't know how/where to go to give permission to these folders. I've tried going into Disk Utility and changing the permissions there, but to no avail, despite successful changing of the "Sharing & Permissions" to "Read & Write" for all listed accounts.
I'm currently trying to view this on an imac OSX 10.6.8. The dead MacBook pro ran OSX

I have got a new magic mouse but it does not scroll, the scrolling feature does not show in mouse preferences, it only shows tracking speed and double-click speed. In Bluetooth preferences it says the mouse is connected and paired, but in Keyboard & Mouse Bluetooth preferences the keyboard name is there and it shows the battery level, but shows no name or battery level for the mouse.
