View 3 RepliesI recently partitioned my harddrive for windows xp to be installed with bootcamp but now I would rather run VMware fusion. I haven't yet backed up my hard drive. Is there anyway to return to previous settings without losing it all? I have a lot of stuff on my computer is why I ask. Also, if I made a backup of my computer now, will that not work because I am doing so with a partitioned drive?
View 2 Replies View RelatedMy dell computer has recently crashed, so I purchased a Mac mini hoping it would last. Now my problem is that I have to sync my iPad to my new computer, without loosing any data that I have made I have spent over a year using my iPad and would not be a happy camper if I lost my app data and music. So how would you sync it to do that? I know you can do it I have done it before I just forgot how to do it though.

Is it possible to extend a software raid 0 (built by disk utility)? Let's say I have already a raid 0 with two disks and want to add a third disk.

Since I upgraded to OSX 10.6.4, my wireless Apple keyboard is losing it's connection when the computer goes to sleep. I never had that issue before the upgrade. It will also on occasion lose it's connection while I'm actively using it. Is this a known issue that will eventually be addressed by Apple, or is there something else going on?

I have a 27 inch, mid 2011 imac. I bought it in March. It has started losing its wireless connection. The other issue is when it does connect it is very slow. I have a netgear modem, I dont think this is the issue cause the IPAD, and wireless laptop connect fine. I've also run a speed test, all wireless devices connect to 10Mbps and LAN devices connect up to 30 Mbps including the iMac when it is wired. Could this be an issue with the airport card? How would I know, how do I check? What should I do?

I have a 500gb HDD coming from newegg for my new 13" MBP. I know how to take it apart and all that, but my question is how do I 'clone' the drive to get it from the stock drive to the new HDD? I have a 160gb external drive, could I use this as a time machine backup and then pop the new drive in, install leopard from the DVDs that came with my mac, and then restore time machine backup?

I want to upgrade from Leopard 10.5.8.I bought the Snow Leopard CD from Apple a few months ago. Installer ran for maybe 8 minutes, then said it "cannot change the contents/data of the hard drive". I don't remember the exact word. I had to use boot from CD and the keyboard eject to get the CD out. Now my MacBook Pro won't boot. It gets stuck on the grey screen, then after several minutes it shuts down. I bought the laptop used 2 years ago, and don't have a Leopard disc. What can I do?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm having a think about my current backup solution as i've recently got into photography and dont want to loose any of my images. I have a 24" imac with a 640GB Hard drive. I do a Bootable Carbon Copy Clone of this drive after i import any new photos or make any drastic changes to any of my library's to a 320GB WD Passport and take it to my parents. Then connected to a airport extreme i have 2 WD Mybook hard drives. Drive A is 1TB and holds all my master RAW images that are on my imac's HD. It also holds things like personal movies and any other documents that are on the imac. The only thing that it holds that are not backed up anywhere are Movies or TV shows.
Also connected to the AE is a 640GB WD Mybook (Drive B) this is purely for time machine backups. The only issue i can see so far is that the WD passport drive is only 320GB so once my imac drive fills up past the 320GB mark i wont be able to do a CCC backup. I'm currently using about 230GB on my imac so have a little time before i need to upgrade that drive. Now, the imac is in our dining room and my wife does NOT want drives hanging off the imac cluttering the place up, hence the reason why there connected to the AEBS and hidden away in a cupboard... Can anyone suggest any improvements that need to be made to my setup?
I can't figure this out. A few days ago noticed iChat and Mail were not making any sounds when they were supposed to. I double-checked the settings a few times and everything was right, sound events were suppose to take place. I restarted and it resolved the problem.
Now, a few days later, I'm having the same problem.
I wasn't sure where to post this, so I hope this is an okay location.
I recently read that if you open up a jpeg file and then resave it, it loses quality. Is this true?
Is it only Jpegs, or all compressed images? Or even yet, all images i.e. Raw?
What other scenario must I be aware of where file quality can be lost? Any with music files, or video files?
Does anyone have any tips for using the Mac as I have to have about 8 programs running at once on my mac and i'm always loosing them behind other running programs (when looking at the desktop).
Sometimes it takes me 7 or 8 clicks to find the one I need.
I bought my macbook originally with Snow Leopard, later I downloaded the latest version (Lion) of it. I would like to format my whole computer so that it looks as new, but what can I do that without loosing the Lion OS I did pay for?

My macbook pro came installed with 4GB of RAM but this is slowly being eaten away. Brand new there was 2.77Gb available. Yesterday there was 2.4 and today there is 1.43Gb free. ( I know this as I am using free memory) Nothing is running but Finder and now this browser. Without the browser (Safari) I cannot seem to get more than 1.7Gb free. Something seemnd s to be gobbling up about 1Gb in the background this is not visible to Finder/Force quit
