Intel Mac :: Transferred Data From PC To IMac Emails Going Back To 2008?
Mar 27, 2012
Transferred data from PC to iMac. Emails going back to 2008 that I want to remove from Gmail 'All Mail'. Have tried merely delete, establishing a folder for 'old emails' then removing them to trash and emptying trash, and creating a filter to clear old messages from Gmail Inbox. Nothing works - they keep coming back. Help, I do not need them on my computer.
I have transferred all my old computer through its back up to a new macbook pro. Everything seems in order except for the emails which are not being received - in fact not able to get on to the page for emails at all .
I transferred about 400 gigs of data from my MacBook Pro to my new iMac using Migration Assistant, but can't find any of my data on Finder. I'm thinking that the data got transferred but not cataloged. Finder shows about 400 gigs of my hard drive being used, but the files it shows don't come anywhere close to 400 gigs. How can I find out what is really on the hard drive and how can I access my MacBook files I transferred?
I have 2 new HDs (each 1T) uninstalled, and I have my old HD (160 gigs) currently residing in one of the two slots in my G5. Any ideas on the best way/process to get the data transfered from the old HD to the new ones, leaving my two slots filled with the 2 new drives AND my data from the old HD transfered and intact, with a RAID0 setup?
OR, are there any other suggestions on a good setup with the 2 new HDs?
I'm open to suggestions.
I always back-up on external HDs, so, is their a need for me to worry about setting up a RAID0?
I'm doing video processing for DVD release.
Should I just max out the 2x1T gig HDs and not worry about a HD failure?
I was told if I bought a new laptop I would get my data transferred from old laptop to newly bought one for free from the one on one. When ordering online I see it costs $100 to add that service. If I order online and pick up in store can i get them to transfer the data for free? Also can i buy it from the store if i want to update the harddrive option on the Macbook Pro?
I have a feeling that my current hard drive is going to fail.soon(is clicking occasionally)I want to be able to replace the hard drive with a new one and restore off of a time machine backup when I install the new hard drive, will the time machine backup register that this hard drive can be used as the new drive?will all of my data and settings be on the new drive as if they were the original?how painless will this transition be (if you have experienced this)?and will the genius bar replace it if it is within my year of warranty and failing all by itself?or should I use carbon copy cloner?

I made the mistake of choosing the "new" 3-column format in Mail when I upgrade to Lion. I'm guessing that most people love this, but I ain't one of them. My question: How do I get back to the old familiar list all emails at the top with email content views at the bottom?
Info: iMac, Mac OS X (10.7.4), System upgraded from 10.5
I have bought a 500GB Seagate FreeAgent GoFlex. I have perform a check on the external harddisk using Disk Utility. No matter ho many times I tried to backup my file, the Time Machine will refuse to move after it has transferred est 70 MB data.
My hard drive crashed. Luckily I have a recent Back up made on an external USB drive made under 10.4. The new hard drive has had 10.5 installed on it. However, I need to restore from the 10.4 back up. Migration assistant doesn't see the back up disk.
I want no linking of related emails, I have found one unlink button, but still get a whole load of supposedly related emails. Can't find a thing when I need to. The machine says it is not there - I know it is. This linking is causing me all sorts of problems. How do I get back ti straightforward send and receive?
my mail is not showing new emails, it first stopped showing the number of emails, then new emails stopped coming in. iPad works fine no trouble with mail there. used the connection doctor and all good with the servers. how i can get it working again.
just purchased an intel imac (the latest) and wishes to transfer the data from the old non intel G5 to this new mac. During the procedure he has been asked for a passKEY not a passWORD and he has no idea what this is.

My iMac is starting to be a bit slow and I think it,s due to the fact that as a new iMac user, I downloaded lots of things I don't really need. I have all of my files on an external hard drive so I'm not scared of what I might loose if I reset my system.Â
Only thing I'm scared are my emails. Is there a way for my to save everything on an external drive, restore my system (which I don't know how to do) and once everything is back in order, I could simply import my emails and it would be as if nothing happened (well, for my emails at least)?Â
Info: iMac (21.5-inch, Late 2012), OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.5)
Have new iMac. Also have iPad for about a year. Both are sync'd with my email address. When I delete emails on my iMac, they aren't deleted on my iPad like it was done on previous old computer (not Apple). Also, when I want to delete those emails on my iPad, I keep getting message stating "can't be moved"Â how to solve those 2 problems on deleting emails ?Â
I transferred my old files to my new iMac and now I cannot open them. They have a red circle on them and a message that says they are now unsupported. How do I translate these files on my new iMac?
As of yesterday my Mac will no longer send or receive emails that have attachments on them. It doesn't matter the size or format of the attachment, nothing happens. It shows as Sent but it doesn't get to the recipient and I can't receive either.Â
I only just downloaded Mavericks this past week. I don't like how we have to use the "shift" or "command" key to delete multiple emails. I preferred and found it simpler to just use my mouse and click and highlight. Can this might revert back ?Â
I created a partition on my new iMac for 200gb and cloned my old MBP with an external HD. I tried to open it from the connected external HD and it wouldn't let me. I tried transferring the files from the external hard drive to the partitioned HD on the imac and it said this operation could not be done........
Also I tried booting from the external cloned HD and can not do any functions with my iMac as the keyboard and mouse are bluetooth and it does nothing when I type...
I have successfully transferred all my music from windows to my new iMac, but I am unable to drag and drop them into iTunes. I was told before purchasing that this would be no problem. I can play all the tracks individually but it uses Quicktime to play them. Am I missing something? How can I get them across to iTunes?
I transferred all my information from my old computer to time machine and now onto my new great iMac. I have user names that I want to delete. How do I do this? Also, is there a way to transfer photos from iphoto in another users name into my user name?
I have an old Summer 2000 iMac DV SE running Tiger. Recently when I powered up the machine I saw the display flicker a bit then went dead. I also began to smell something burning from the rear ventilation ports. Now when I press the power button, it lights up for a brief moment then the burning smell returns.
I have 10.8.5 and use Quicken. I updated last week and lost 5 years of data. I have Time Machine but when I go to data from last month Quicken doesn't come up. How can I find it?
I just installed a new SSD. Time Machine is active. It says it is saving data. When you open TM, it opens the times that it saved data except there is noting in the boxes and the button to choose a backup to restore is greyed out, not allowing to choose anything as there isn't anything to choose. The TM says that it has backed upped 350 gb of data. There is nothing there however. I rebooted, disconnected external drive, even reformatted and started over. Nothing seems to work.
