I have this problem: it seems that HD fan never increase, despite of high temperature.Â
Machine is:Â
Imac 21,5 mid 2011
I7 from online store
1 TB HD as it comes from the store
added an SDD, Vertex 3, not removed the CDROM, its installed on its native port.Â
The SSD has Lion installed and its boot disk. Its temperature seems always 30°C, it never changesÂ
The HD temperature reached 60 °C, but the HD fan never went up from its minimal 1100 Â
So I suspect that the SMC thinks that the temperature to use to start the fan is 30°C, wich is wrong, and completely ignore the mechanical HD, wich I worried will burn out soon.Â
Already resetted SMC, PRAM, done the hardware test even extended, no problems.Â
I want a solution wich links the HD fan to the original HD temp as it should.Â
Is it possible? I dont have any third party SMC software and I dont want them.
I noticed that iStat and Temperature Monitor report different temperatures for the same readings on my G5 Powermac Dual Processor System. For example as I am writing this Temperature Monitor is saying My CPU A is 46.8C and CPU B is 46.7C. In iStat it says CPU A is 55C and CPU B is 54C. Which is right!?
I apologists straight away if this have been covered recently, but i need to ask.I have MacBook with Intel Core Due Processor, 2 GB ram. What is the average temperature CPU temperature for standard usage ( I know that standard usage is very arbitrary, and by this I assume safari, iTunes and let say Pages to be the only major apps running ).I use iStat pro widget and according to it my CPU temperature is 55*C. Is this too high? Lately the fan has been turning on more recently almost without any apps running so I think that there might be some hardware problem. I ran HardwareTest it found nothing.
The macbook is 2 yrs old. Do i need to get it cleaned or is there something else I should be worrying about?
what are the maximum operating temperatures for the various computer components such as the processor diode, processor heatsink, the hard drive? I have my iMac in a medium sized enclosed area which does not allow for air flow.Â
Info: iMac (21.5-inch Mid 2011), Mac OS X (10.7.2)
I want to install my snow leopard (came with the apple) (not possible ) i have now lion but need a clean factory installation...i have treid to use time machine (ther earliest one (before install of lion) after install of the back-up also lion is visible. I have tried the format my disc but that is also not allowed.
Info:iMac, Mac OS X (10.7.3), factory installation
I have the latest imac and I was wondering how to reset to factory settings, was it suppose to come with a DVD? If I need the DVD where would I go to get one ? The closest apple store is over three hours away.
I want to restore to factory settings and start all over with the migration...nothing moved from my old mac to new one the right way and not all of my stuff transfered so i just want to start over.
I am looking to restore the factory settings on my imac (late 2009) and also my macbook air. Is somebody able to give me a step by step guide, or point me to a link, that would give me the detailed info ? I want to make sure that all my passwords, details, files, etc are all deleted from the machines and then restored to factory settings?
I have a late 2009 iMac that came with Snow Leopard, but has been upgraded to Lion via the App store, so I have no recovery discs. I tried reinstalling Lion with the built in recovery, but it did not wipe HD clean. I know I need to erase the HD in Disc Utility, but then I won't have a way to reinstall Lion.
I have to reset my imac G5 that runs OS 10.6.8 to factory settings. I am not selling it but I do want to wipe everything off the hard drive and start over.... fresh.
I had to interrupt the migration assistant and it seems that some of my applications and documents are incomplete (files missing/broken) I have heard the best way to solve this problem is to restore the macs factory settings, then start the migration assistant over again. What is the best way to do this?
My wife has an iMac (I don't know any other way to identify it e.g. model number), and she has this 3rd party calibration software that I'm trying to use. I am not used to a Mac, and I cannot find the display settings for the monitor. There are no buttons on the monitor, and when I go to preferences, I can only find the brightness control. I've googled this and cannot find a clear, simple answer. I have used every version of Windows (currently on 8.1 on my PC) and it's easy for me on that platform. I suppose it's just that I don't really know how to navigate Mac OS.
I mean ballpark range? I got 12GB from OWC (2GB modules) - thus a total of 14GB. I got Temperature Monitor and it says that the RAM is running in the 125-145 F range.
I've seen several posters talk about the temperature of their GPU. I have iStat and that shows my my processor temp, but is there a way to learn more about what the graphics card is doing? I have an ATI, so Zeus won't work.
I am using iStat Pro and notice the temperature really gets up there! The airport card reads 62 degrees this morning. I'm nervous about slowly cooking my laptop! This can't be good for the cpu's?
So recently my 2008 Macbook Pro has been getting really hot, even when it's not really being used. It's now too hot to put on my lap and even sitting on a desk it doesnt get any better, and I am only running Chrome and iChat. Here are the Temp Monitor and iStat Pro sceenshots: I feel like it's been getting progressively hotter over the last few weeks, but what do I know. Also, why are the fans at 4500 rpms when Im only running chrome and iChat?
So I recently bought myself a Macbook Pro 2006 Model 15". And the idea was, buy it second hand and get the fan fixed totally the price of 600$. Which is great, because it works and things are fine.
But why is it that when I'm on Facebook on either Opera or Safari? My temp hits 80c. I've called up the Mac Store here in Ireland. They asked me to use iStat Pro to find out my temperatures. So I have, and all my temperatures are fine (around 30-50c) but my CPU temperature is hitting 80c.Honestly, this is quite scary to see that a computer I've bought hits 80c when I browse the internet?
Specs: Mac Os X 10.5.8 Processor: 2GHz Intel Core Duo Memory: 2GB 677MHz DDR2 SDRAM Macbook Pro 15"
I'm getting fed up with dealing with the Mac Store, if you guys know what I need to do to fix this problem? I'll open it myself, and fix it.
I have just brought the 1.8GHz + SSD version. It's really fast and quiet, until the fan spinning like crazy.
What is the acceptable CPU temperature on the Air?
Mine got up 89 degree C (192.2 F) MAX for a while, when the heat-sink is at much lower temperature, like 60-ish. Can't remember what tasks it was doing. It's 54 right now just with the Websites running, and the heat-sink is at 43.
Is it normal? Or should I worry about the thermopaste on the machine?
I happen to have a Late 2007 MacBook Pro (The specs are in my signature). My model was also the one affected by the 8600Gt issue so I had taken to a nearby Apple Reseller in Dubai in 2008. It's been months since that happened.
However, I've been monitoring my CPU & GPU temperatures and I'm still confused about what is ideal and if I should be worried about anything.
(I took a screenshot of my iStat readings and there's a difference of atleast 11C between the GPU Diode and GPU Heatsink)
Is there anything alarming that I should be worried about?
