Mar 1, 2010I bought my first mac last month , it was 1year old and came restored to factory condition osx 10.5.4 .All was well until after i updated to mac osx combined 10.5.8. I liked the updated safari but lost my iphoto so had to restore back to factory.now i have all my programs back but cant update anymore, it just tells me that it will need to restart then hangs for hours saying configuring instillation .If i try updating using installer it tells me that i cant .

May 22, 2012I recently installed a couple font management tools and ever since I have noticed that I don't have the full list of default system fonts. Below is a screenshot of what I have. I notice that there are a lot of missing fonts that should be there such as Georgia, Trebuchet, Verdana and many more. Is there a way to reinstall them or restore them? I tried the restore Standard Fonts option in Font Book but says no problems encountered. I also downloaded a program called Pacifist but don't know what to do next.

Oct 18, 2008I have a PowerBook G4 that is about 3 1/2 years old - my first Mac ever, I got it for college. However, now that it has been so many years I feel like I want to restore it to factory settings, essentially I want to make it like I just opened it up from the box. It still runs fine, maybe a little slow. But mostly I think she's just bogged down from years of classes, music, applications, etc. The problem? Like an idiot, I don't have my start-up disk anymore. I thought maybe I should purchase the upgrade to Leopard for after I wipe it, but I'm not sure how to even do that. Also, $130 is kind of pricey but if I have to purchase a new Tiger start-up disk (if that's even possible) the cost difference might be worth it.
So I guess what I'm asking for is advice about what is the best course to take. Getting a new Tiger disk seems like it might be hard, but I don't know if my PowerBook is new enough to support Leopard. Would it be worth it to find a professional (mind you I live in a small Michigan town that doesn't even have a Best Buy, and the nearest Apple store is in Lansing)? I apologize if I sound so much like a novice that it makes your head explode.

I have been using the thunderbolt to hdmi connector to display on a tv screen that I have laying around, now I need to restore the computer to factory settings and remove all the previous person stuff but wondering how I go about this. I know I have to go to recovery mode by shutting down restarting and hold the option key down but when I shut down it doesn't show back up on the monitor. Is there a way to restore without the display or is there another way to use the thunderbolt to hdmi to get it to work?
