Hardware :: Webcam Compatability Options?

Oct 22, 2009

Great idea: Bypass the need to get an iMac but still enjoy the convenience of built in webcam functionality by buying the new MacMini 2.26GHz and purchasing a Dell SX2210 screen with a built in webcam in its stead. Sounds simple but neither iChat nor Skype seem to recognize the camera's built in existence. Driver issue?

Hardware :: Options Of PC Compatability?

Jul 30, 2010

I'm looking to minimize desk space, do I'm thinking of getting a few things to do it.An Apple Cinema display, 24" inch, since it has built in speakers, webcam, ect., I would be able to get rid of my current speakers (That aren't very good anyway.) I want to know, is there ANY way I can get this working with my PC? If there isn't then what other monitors have this?Also, I'm thinking of getting an Apple Wired keyboard with a numpad to replace the GIANT keyboard I have now. I'd assume since it's a keyboard windows would automatically recognize it, but is there some Apple protection thing on it?

Hardware :: ACD 27" Compatability Options

Dec 10, 2010

Is the current gen 13" 1.83ghz 4th ram MBA powerful enough to drive the monitor?Secondly, I have a desktop pc that's reasonable new, and I'm wondering if I buy a radeon 6870 with mini display port, will that allow the acd to display the windows pc? I don't know if it just wont work windows or if it was because there weren't really any cards with mini display port hookup. It would be a best of both worlds deal for me because I'm ready for a new pc monitor and I want an iMac, but the iMac lacks graphics cards that will satisfy me.

MacBook Pro :: MacBook Pro 15" LCD Panel Compatability Options

Jun 24, 2010

Can someone tell me the difference between LG LCD panels LP154WP2-TLA1 and the LP154WP3-TLA1? I have a Macbook Pro (A1226) with a broken screen. I dissasembled it and found that I have the LG LP154WP2-TLA1 panel. I have found a couple of the LP154WP3-TLA1 panels at a decent price, but not sure if it is compatable. Also, what is the difference in the TLA1, TLA2, TLA3, and TLA4 models? Are they all compatable with each other? Would any of the other manufacturers panels be compatable with the LP154WP2-TLA1 (Samsung LTN154BT02 or AUO B154PW04)?

Hardware :: HP Monitor Compatability With Macbook

Jul 7, 2008

I have an HP LP2465 Monitor. If I log on to the HP web page it appears that their are only Windows drivers and no reference to Mac compatability. Perhaps, this monitor may not be compatable with the Macbook? When I'm in mirror mode, the Macbook recognizes the HP LP2465 Monitor, but doesn't activate the monitor through the Mini-DVI to VGA Adapter. The monitor just goes to sleep. Does anyone know of anyway to get Macbooks to work with HP Windows monitors? Are there drivers available for the Apple?

Software :: ITunes Compatability - Reinstall 10.4.8 Via The CDs?

Jun 7, 2009

I'm on an Apple MacBook (Intel core duo) and recently had to reinstall my version of Mac OS X 10.4.8 after unsuccessfully trying to download a software update of OS X (can't remember which version) via the Software Updates window which pops up. The software seemed to download fine but as soon as the computer restarted nothing happened. It just stayed on the grey screen at the beginning and the small circle icon popped up but it didn't load up the operating system.As a result I had to reinstall 10.4.8 via the CDs which came with the computer.It just so happened that while the attempt was made to reinstall the newer version of OS X a newer version of iTunes was successfully downloaded (V 8.1.1). However this does not now work with OS X 10.4.8 and comes up with the message 'You cannot use iTunes with this version of Mac OSX.

Applications :: Mac Office 2008 And Powerpoint Versus Office Powerpoint Compatability?

May 8, 2009

I'm sure most people suffer from this but here goes.

So I make a presentation on Mac Office powerpoint, everything is fine. I open it up at university on the PC, all is fine. I maybe change some text on a slide and save it again. Open the same file again on my Mac, and it won't open some silly error comes up saying trouble accessing file from mac HD.

Then luckily I have keynote, so I just open it in that and use that.

Point is why does this happen?? Whilst keynote is better, sometimes I have to edit things on a PC at work or uni and then it becomes a giant mess on my mac.

Is there a quick fix, or will I have to throw Mac Office into my growing pile of Microsoft related garbage.

Hardware :: Looking For A Webcam/mic ?

Dec 31, 2010

I have a Mac Pro and am looking for a Webcam/Mic. There are many on the market so I'm having a hard time deciding which one to get. I know some are HD and I'd be glad to get an HD webcam but that is not necessary. I have several questions:

-I have looked at mainly Logitech Webcams but are there other brands I should look at?

-I want one that will mount to the top of the monitor

-I use the Mac side mainly and would like to use it with Photobooth, iChat, and Facetime and possibly Skype in the future. There are times that I use Windows XP or Windows 7 through VMWare so I would like a webcam that has drivers for both Mac OS 10.6 and Windows XP/7

-The other feature I would like is one that has a built in mic. There are times I will only use the mic and not the video. Is it possible to get a webcam that works also in mic/sound mode only?
