Hardware :: Redoctane X-Plorer Wired Controller For Xbox 360
Oct 16, 2009
So the other day I bought a Redoctane X-plorer Wired controller for Xbox 360 to use as a controller for Frets on Fire on my Macbook Pro. I can't get the controller to be recognized by my computer. When I plug it into the usb port the controller lights up and then goes blank. Does anyone know the reason why the controller won't stay on? What would I need to do to get this to work? I have a few drivers installed for Xbox 360 controllers but none of them recognize the device.

I have found tons of things online on how to connect a XBOX 360 controller to my mac - anyone know how to go in semi reverse - Connect my Mac to my 360? I want to be able to type from my computer - so the typing appears on my 360. I normally play with my computer right next to me - so this would be convenient.

I have an Xbox 360 wireless controller and I wanted to know if it is possible to use it on a mac? I have the play and Charge cable, which is basically a cable that connects to my controller to my Xbox 360 via USB. Do u think if I use this cable plus some software, will I be able to play games such as Team Fortess 2 and COD 4. Also does it matter if I use Boot Camp or Just regular Mac? Also what software can I use for this to work, so all buttons work. Update: Also the controller doesn't use bluetooth, IF the cable doesn't work I have to buy a wireless adapter. Second Update: Ok so I have to either buy a wired controller or buy a wireless adapter. What software can I use?

I bought my MacBook Pro and a brand new Airport Extreme to go with it about 4 months ago. I have the MacBook and my wife's iMac hooked up wirelessly to the Airport Extreme with no problems. My son't Wii also hooks up with no problems wirelessly. My Xbox 360 hooks up sometimes, and sometimes it doesn't. It's not wireless, it's hooked directly to the Airport Extreme via Ethernet cable. When I first got the Airport Extreme, the Xbox had no problem hooking up to it and the internet. But lately it sometimes hooks up, and sometimes it doesn't...with no explanation as to why other than maybe the position of the planets or something. Restarting the Airport Extreme helps sometimes, sometimes it doesn't. I'll just leave it be for a few days...change nothing...and then try the Xbox again and automagically it seems to work...for a few days. Then for no reason will just stop again. It can't connect through anything then, not even hook up to one of the Mac's using Connect360. It's as if the 360 is not even hooked to any network then. Also, the Xbox 360 had zero network problems when I was using a DLink router, which was the set-up to hook to the internet and the hub of the home network for the past year. The 360 could hook to the Macs and access the Internet. But the Dlink wasn't wireless, which is why I went with the Airport Extreme when I got my Macbook Pro.

Ok so I have quite an updated G3 BW/400:
2 x 80gb HD's
Radeon 7000 64mb GPU
1 gb RAM
DVD-ROM
Big TV to watch downloads on.
I am still not absolutely satisfied with the playback and have read that a final bottleneck is the PCI bus (66mHz) and that I can upgrade this to 133mHz.
I am interested in doing this but I want to understand it a bit better. Is the bottleneck the data transferred from the Hard drive or the motherboard to the GPU?
Also, I am looking for suggestions on what to buy. 100mHz or 133mHz or what?

Heres the problem. My flat mate has two Playstation 2 controller's and a USB adapter so we can plug them into our laptops. Trouble is, the adapter allows both controllers to be plugged into just one USB port.
For some reason, my Mac only sees one controller, not them both as separate controllers. The software my flat mate got with the adapter is Windows only, so I'm kinda stumped to get them both working on my Mac.
Has anyone found a work around to get this working? I'm missing out on playing multiplayers on my N64 emulator!

I have installed 2 extra hdd's in my 2008 mac pro using the 2 extra sata ports. I was wondering if it would be possible to install a sata controller in the mac pro to increase my sata ports so I can add 2 more sata drives instead of the remaining optical drive. And if I can where would it go.

I was given a mac book that wouldn't show anything on screen, apple said it had bad logic board. I fixed that by torching the gpu die, and everything is perfect. Except the computer will not charge that battery, says battery 0% "not charging". I tried all the usual, so does anyone know exactly were the smc controller is on the motherboard? I have some ideas And all the cables from the mag safe connecter to the battery, appear good.

The DVD player controller is trapped off screen. If I "open control door" from the menu i can see it just poking out but can't move it.
That's a screenshot of the bottom left corner of the screen with the control door open, with it closed you cannot see it at all.
No one else seems to have had this problem from my searching but is there a way to reset the position or something?

Have downloaded and burned both 32/64bit versions in case of driver support issues.
As I custom configured my iMac, I only have wireless keyboard/ wireless mighty mouse.
Is it possible to go through a windows 7 RC install without wired peripherals? ie, is the bluetooth initiated during the install process?

So I got a new Macbook about 3 months, and I've been sitting on a couch in the same room with the wireless router. However I'm getting a bit sick of having to use a couch as my desk and I want to get internet in my room.
Our house, is reasonbly new, and I know that all the phone wires are cat5 (I'm 100% sure), so I was thinking of setting up a wired network.
Since our house is made up of concrete and steel beams, the wireless signal isn't that great in our house. We have a D-Link G604T which is a piece of junk so I will get a new router in the near future.
So currently, we have some sort of filter in the room where the router is, so we can plug in the router without having to worry about putting filters on all of our telephone lines.
However, if I were to put internet in through the same line, I'm guessing I would have to get some filters.
Hopefully what I want to do is get a phone jack to Ethernet converter and put internet directly into the wall and hopefully I will get internet in all of the phone jacks. I could probably take the cable out and put a Ethernet end straight on the cable.
I was also thinking If I get a airport extreme of some other gigabit router, I would technically get less latency and would retain my internet speeds even though I would getting internet through a long line of cables.

I dunno if this is the right forum, but I use a MBP, plus, I couldn't find a more fitting category. Anyways, I'm gonna try and set my PC up to my monitor tonight, but my PC uses Ethernet to connect to the internet. My MBP on the other hand, connects to the router via WiFi. So, I wondered, would it be possible to hook my PC up to my MBP, to provide internet access? I mean, I can use my MBP as a wireless router, so why not as a wired router?

It takes PCI cards, but does that mean it takes any PCI card, even if a potential PCI expansion card does not specify what kind of computer it can connect to? It is a VIA PCI expansion card.

I'm a long-time Mac owner (this is my 4th) but new to Mac forums. I'm making the transition from playing action type games on a console system to playing games on my Mac (Madden, Call of Duty, etc). It sucks playing them without some kind of controller and I am looking hard at what's out there.
I have a MacBook Pro, 17", 2.66GHz Intel Core i7 processor, and 8 GB 1067MHz DDR3 memory.
So what are the best controllers that are currently available? Or would I be better served to wait a couple of months for something due out any time? I don't want to wait forever and I know that there will always be something better coming out, but if there is something revolutionary coming soon, I'd wait.

This weekend I starting getting the clicking sound of death from my boot drive. Today I ran out and got a Western Digital Caviar Black 2TB HDD that is SATA/300 drive. Are the higher read/write speeds supported by the MP 3,1 controller?
As I write this, I've got CCC cloning the entire drive and praying that it doesn't fail mid-copy.

I have a PowerMac G4 (MDD 2003, I believe) that I use as my home media server for my Apple TV. Currently I have a 14+14GB boot RAID and 75+75GB storage RAID, using old PATA drives, of course. This is working great and is pretty well performing so far, but I'm going to run out of space eventually since I'm a packrat. I'm thinking that this Christmas will be a good time to renovate this machine, so here's the question MacRumors: What's the best SATA controller for my machine? PS: It's a dual 1.25GHz PowerMac 3,6. In MacTracker, this matches 3 different machines. Is there a way to find out which one this truly is?

I am using the first generation Mac Pro, and I wanted to ask some questions related to SATA HDD and The Raid configuration. I currently have 4 HDDs in the internal bay and 2 external in the enclosure using the USB2 connection. The performance is not that great, and I am sick of adding more HDDs through USB2 which offers really slow performance. I was thinking of building a dedicated NFS File Server using Linux, but before I did that, I wanted to ask if there are solutions out there within Apple Mac Pro without going through this route.
I currently have 6 and probably need to buy 3 more in very short time period. also, all of my HDDs are 750g. Simply put, I am wondering if there are like 16 or 24 port SATA Raid Controller that I can buy for MacPro. Since the MacPro can't house all of them inside, I need to use external enclosures for some of these HDDs, connected through eSATA or whatever means possible without jeopardizing the performance. I am also interested in Raid 5 setup, so, that support in raid card is mandatory.

So i've read a few threads on here mentioning the ZephIR and their website claims it can be controlled by EyeTV.
It looks great, but does anyone have any experience with it?
I'm definitely thinking of getting an EyeTV and an IR controller would be perfect!
