View 8 RepliesI remember reading that there was a way to fix this. My mouse has totally stopped scrolling. Any help would be great.
i think my mighty mouse (wireless) is starting to suffer the inevitable scroll ball problem, as i cant scroll down as well anymore..have any of you had any sucess getting a replacement or fixing it??
View 5 Replies View RelatedThis is an issue most of you are probably familiar with. The 360 scroll ball on my mighty mouse has become so lodged with dirt (I'm assuming) making it impossible to scroll down. Scrolling left, right, and up works okay at best. When I scroll in the working directions, it makes a smooth tracking sound (tick-tick-tick-tick), when I scroll down, this sound is absent and is replaced by a "shhh" sound, which is the beginning of the word I'm thinking of when I hear it.
I've tried the "dry cloth" (when has that ever 100% worked) with no avail, then I resorted to using a sewing needle to get around the ball (which caught a very small amount of dirt). The down-scroll still doesn't work (I mean, it doesn't work AT ALL, it's not functional) and I don't know what to do. I'm sure the mouse can handle more than just regular-consumer workload.
Can anyone help me with this mighty mouse problem I'm having? Everything on the mouse is working perfectly EXCEPT when I try to scroll upwards the darn thing just won't do it. It scrolls down, left and right with no problem at all but when I want to go back up a page it does nothing. It's very odd and I have no idea what is wrong.
I recently developed a scrolling problem with my Mighty Mouse. It started to only vertical scroll in one direction. I reinstalled the software and it did not help. So, I called Apple tech support. While waiting on the line, I decided to press quite hard on the scroll button and try to scroll. That cured the problem, after that it only required the normal light touch to work properly. I do not know what was the cause of the problem, maybe dust(?), in any event it is working fine now.
View 24 Replies View RelatedBesides the not-so-comfortable feeling of holding the Mighty Mouse, I came across this problem where when the mouse is moved slowly, the precision is lost, but this doesn't happen when I am in bootcamp XP. Is this a common problem with the Mighty Mouse?

View 15 Replies View RelatedI have had my mighty mouse for a couple months and it has worked great on my macbook. Just recently the middle button won't open up the dashboard and the two side buttons go through spaces instead of exposing all windows. In system proferences under mouse and spaces both are set for the middle button to open the dashboard and the side buttons to expose all windows but they don't do that. It could be an easy fix but I don't know what else to try?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI just bought a mighty mouse, happy as I was, plugged it in and started my ibook running OS X 10.3.9.I know the mighty mouse shouldn't have full functionality (as the software delivered with it is >10.4.2).The problem is that the right click doesn't work right. When I try to right click it sometimes takes the right click, sometimes takes it as a left click (which is extremely annoying in firefox or finder).
I have SteerMouse (I'm a windows/linux user too) installed but when I denstalled it the problem remained.
When I plugged the mighty mouse in my pc (at that time running windows) right click just worked. When using a cheap mouse (from pleomax) the right click on the ibook (with Steermouse installed) works all the time.
I find this al really confusing. Seems like it can't be the hardware because it works on windows, but it can't be the software because another mouse does work.
I noticed that when right clicking at the total right side near the "expose-button" (not a position my fingers lay naturally) right click works all the time. I don't hope this is normal?
I know this is going to sound strange, but my Mighty Mouse has been acting up recently. Put new batteries in it the other day, and now it won't scroll down a page. It will however, scroll up.
View 19 Replies View RelatedSomething tells me it's a simple solution, but all i know is, suddenly i cannot scroll =down= with the Apple Mighty mouse, only =up=. I restarted the system, but the issue remains.
View 3 Replies View RelatedJust bought white wired Mighty Mouse (eBay) and connected after restart, PRAM reset, shutdown, and start. Looked at Sys Prefs to configure pea-ball and selected 360 scrolling. Only get vertical. No horizontal, and no 360. Looked at various forums and Q/A's and cleaned the pea-ball as suggested. No dice. Still only vertical scrolling. Looked for drivers to download for updates, but found none.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI was just watching some of the Mac Basics tutorials on the Apple website, and saw a movie about "Wireless Basics". In the middle they mention Bluetooth, and its compatible devices like the Mighty Mouse. But I can't see a scroll ball on the mouse shown... Is this maybe a new (future) Mighty Mouse with touch scrolling or something? I would really welcome a new Mighty Mouse, because the scroll ball of today's version is a real shame
View 11 Replies View RelatedAs per the title, is it possible? it's just seems to be one line of code for the magic mouse although that may be because it's pre-built inand may be harder on the mighty mouse.
I searched for this but there doesn't seem to be anything on it. Maybe because it's a feature not wanted but I think it'll smooth out the mouse scrolling and it's something i'd like to try, if anyone knows how to do it or has it themselves
The line of code for leopard and for the Magic is "defaults write com.apple.driver.AppleBluetoothMultitouch.mouse MouseMomentumScroll -bool yes"
This may mean you have to take parts from the magic mouse driver if that's possible but to be honest i have no idea.
This is the second Mighty Mouse that I have had this happen on, I've tried the usual use a piece of paper and run it around the edge, tip it upside down and scroll the ball about and I've even tried using a can of compressed air but both of my Mighty Mouses still wont scroll down. Obviously I don't want to have to shell out again for another of these far inferior mouses so I was wanting to know if anyone know how I could fix it or get Apple to send me a new one?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have been having some problems with my wireless mighty mouse. For some reason it has stopped scrolling up; it will scroll down but not up. Unfortunately, I have lost the disk that comes with it so I can't reinstall the software. Does any have any suggestions as USBoverdrive does not as yet support the mouse.
View 11 Replies View RelatedI went ahead and disassembled my wireless mighty mouse, unscrewed the scroll ball from the lid of the mouse and found a ton of lint and cr@p that has been living in here for quite some time. cleaned it all up, put it together, now all of the little rollers spin freely, great.
I go to put everything together, including the 2 ribbon cables, mouse snaps together, fire it up, mouse works fine, i can click, side buttons work, but the scroll does not work at all now. left to right use to be fine, it was just up and down. now nothing works.
any idea what could have gone wrong? did i forget something?
The scroll on my Mighty Mouse will not scroll down, only up.This the second Mighty Mouse I've owned and the last one had this problem too.Is this a common fault? The settings in System Preferences are fine.
This issue may have been present in Mavericks as well, but I have no first hand experience with Mavericks. I was recently updated to Yosemite at work and this is when my Mighty Mouse (wired, with a scroll wheel button on top, NOT MAGIC MOUSE) started going nuts.
I have my work settings matched exactly to the settings on my Mighty Mouse at home running on Mountain Lion. Horizontal scrolling is not an issue at all, but vertical scrolling is so incredible sensitive. I very slight scroll will send me to the op or bottom of a page in almost all applications. It is extremely annoying in my Adobe apps. I work in Illustrator moots the day and this scrolling issue has killed my production time.
I use my vertical and horizontal scrolling quite a lot in doing my work. The vertical again is fine and seems to match my scrolling at home, but any more than a single click of the scroll wheel since updating to Yosemite will send my cursor off of the artboard, which is sometimes very large. I t has too often centime to the edges of the pasteboard which than takes forever to try to scroll back into position. I simply use the Fit Artboard in Window key command to center my work on screen and then gently scroll to where I need to be.
To set my scrolling speed to slow will correct the vertical scrolling but will make my horizontal scrolling so heavy that I have to resort to using the hand tool to move around in my Illustrator app, which I have employed full-on at this point because it is the only consistent solution I have found.
Many people have suggested that I get rid of the Mighty Mouse and use the Magic Mouse. I have many reasons for not doing this (my 3D work needs a middle button for one), but I have also been reading that these Magic Mouse users are having their own scrolling issues.

Ok, so I went to the apple support webpage and did all the junk they told me to do, but my might mouse still won't scroll down. It scrolls left, right, and up just fine, but for some reason it won't scroll down. The ball moves fine when i'm trying to scroll down, but, again, nothing happens...anyone have any suggests??? and Yes, i've cleaned it and haven't done anything to it and I can't think of anything I could have done to cause this...
View 10 Replies View RelatedNoticed recently that when scrolling up or down with the Magic Mouse, that I get that animated circular icon. I have to wait, usually a few seconds, until the cursor returns, before I can continue scrolling.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI just installed the RC of Windows 7 on my iMac using Boot Camp. The OS installed fine and all seems fine (WiFi, sound etc.), except for some reason I can't seem to be able to use my (bluetooth) Apple wireless keyboard and mighty mouse. I am currently being forced to use my old keyboard/mouse that I had on my old PC.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI went to preferences "bluetooth". I noticed that my MM is not connected but still works. Here's what is on bluetooth...
Apple wireless mouse: Connected: Yes
Apple's mouse connected: No
Bob's mouse no This is the MM.
How can I get it connected. I also have a MS wireless mouse running. The MM like I said does work but not the way it should.
Today after I cleaned my mighty mouse (by rolling the scroll ball on a piece of paper) the Button 3 would not work properly and neither would the primary button. When the scroll ball is set as Button 3 the primary button and the scroll ball both do Button 3 actions even though in the preferences its not set up that way. I can't click anything with it, it just keeps opening new tabs in Firefox and when I click those tabs they close. And as I typed this I noticed the secondary button isn't working well either. I took out the batteries, turned off bluetooth, changed the preferences, restarted my MacBook and it's all the same.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI've been using my M Mouse successfully with my MacBook until recently when the Mouse Pointer no longer moves. The button does engage the dashboard and if I position the cursor using the MacBook trackpad, then the click function of the mouse does work. I have tried changing the batteries. It appears I am having a similar problem when I use a wired mouse. Just in case it's connected, I run Parallels and did recently upgrade Windows software.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I scroll down, I get no response. Everything else is fine. The clicking sound has also stopped when scrolling down, and I guess this is the reason why it's not working.

View 1 Replies View RelatedSo, here's the story. I turned on my imac one day, and i tried to launch safari by clicking the left button ( primary button ) and it launched expose (which is configured or the middle button) so i kept clicking and clicking i tried the right button ( secondary ) and it also launched expose. By this time i am getting fusterated. My side button still works and launches spaces but left, right and middle only do what the middle button is configured too. I have tried taking out the batteries putting new ones in , and disconnecting it from bluetooth.
