Just curious if there's a list of the current 30" ACD specs. Not the sheet from Apple. But one listing the input lag, specific panel, accurate response time, etc. etc.
View 2 RepliesI went to the Apple Store yesterday because my USB ports were WAY too flimsy, plugs would easily slip out with my effort at all. The Genius told me that the logic board needed to be replaced and since I was under warranty til 2011, it was free. Now I heard that when newer models came out, I can get my logic board upgraded to match current specs. I got my MBP in March 2010, is there a chance I can get the low end processor? I have a 2.26GHZ btw and the low end now is 2.4GHz.

I also know that the white MacBook has a glossy LCD display, whereas the aluminum MacBook has an even glossier glass panel over the LCD display.I understand that both MacBook Air and MacBook Pro models use better LCD display panels, but I'm not in the market for either so that's a moot point. Since I've read conflicting reports as to whether one MacBook display is better or worse than the other what I'd like to know is if the physical LCD panel used in both varieties of MacBook is the same or different?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI currently have 4 input sources on my mac (English, Hebrew, Russian, Spanish).
I use the keyboard shortcuts Command+Space and Command+Shift+Space, and I also have it set to automatically switch input sources as I switch to a document, but for some reason, it's just not working out very well for me. I feel like I'm always typing in the wrong language - particularly if I have tabs open in Safari with different languages, or something like Facebook chat which is in the same window, but may require all 4 languages.
I'm wondering if there is any way to set language-specific shortcuts, for example Control+Command+E -> English, or Control+Command+H -> Hebrew.
I looked in the menus of BetterTouchTool but could find nothing...
Do I need to make some kind of script or app to do this?

Wanting to get a sleeve ordered for my 13.3" MBA that I am waiting for from apple. Looking to get something MBA specific to use inside my main bag. I am assuming most companies will continue with their MBA sleeves from the previous gen for the 13.3 as the size differences are small? Any recommendations? Preferably not USA based as they all charge ridiculous shipping to the UK, SFbags etc

So I guess I need to get a firewire 800 card and it will only be used in conjunction with out AJA unit (HD video production), so if it has one or four ports it doesn't really matter. Anyone have a brand or specific card they prefer?

Amazing... a full 1080p resolution display in the new 13" Vaio Z offering. When will Apple get off it's ***** iOS high horse and give a damn about computing again?ALL of the 2010 Mac updates were a joke except the new Mac mini. Isn't it sick that the only Mac truly getting any love is the mini desktop in a mobile Mac world? Does this make any sense? Seriously, a complete lack of innovation in the new Mac notebooks. Two years since the last MBA update. Apple really has had its time to work on iOS products like the iPad and iPhone. I really hope SJ's has an answer to Sony, and every other ultraportable on the market, within the holiday season. View 2 Replies View RelatedMy tibook has been having kernel panics (Both with the polite message telling you to shut down your screen, and the one where a bunch of code rolls down the screen and it freezes). Also the computer sometimes just plain freezes sometimes and it also just shutsdown randomly. What could be the problem? i tried both sticks independently and it still happens, unless both the ram sticks are bad.How would i go about checking if my ram was within specs?

I've been looking at a number of MacMini's on EBay and via CraigsList, but I wanted to know what you guys suggest as far as processor and memory for a Mini just to serve video to the TV. My goal is to watch videos from iTunes and Boxee primarily, but also from the web as need be. I'm looking at a number of 1.2Ghz systems with 512 Megs/Ram, and given this computer will only be used for video would this be suffice? I dont' know if we need the 'latest and greatest' or even a dual core system, even though I do want something with OSX 10.5 for sure.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI intend to burn close to 30 hours of home HD videos on hopefully HD disks like Blu-ray. I tried the Toast 9 and successfully burned a 15 minute HD on a regular DVD however on my MacBook 2.16 GHz with 2 GB RAM it took few hours for encoding.
Question #1: can any hardware piece ie: elgato's Turbo.264 will make a siginificant difference in encoding time

I've just got a new macbook and it's awesome, really feels like a well built notebook. I have 3-4 specs under my screen, there not dead pixels so I'm 99% sure there specs of dust. Now I'm curious, are all the new Macbooks gonna have a few specs or not? I don't know whether to take it back for a new one or live with it. If most Macbooks are going to have the odd spec I will just hang on to it and get over it. But if most of the owners on here have 100% perfect screens, I'll get it exchanged.

I have no idea what's going on with both my Safari and Chrome browsers because I have cable internet and its not slow by any means but my browsers keep crashing (had to force quit out of safari 6 times in 2 minutes) or i see the dreaded beachball for more than five minutes. I don't know what's going on.

Questions about specs first...
I'd use the comp for:the regular stuff (internet, email, word docs, music)
quite a bit of graphics work in programs such as Photoshop, Illustrator, and Painter
Bootcamp for a few graphics-intensive games (Cabal, Assassin's Creed, ...Maplestory? lol)
Bootcamp for graphics programs that aren't available for the mac os
So, on the following 2 specs, please tell me which option would be good, but not redundantly powerful.
Core2Duo/ i3/ i5/ i5 Quad/ i7 Quad
ATI Radeon... 4670 with 256MB/ 4850 with 512MB/ 5670 with 512MB/ 5750 with 1GB
I'm also trying to decide on size. 21.5" is actually a fine size for me, but the maximum specs for 21"s are 3.6GHz, i5, 5670 with 512MB. If this is enough ("comfortably enough"... I don't want "just enough") for my needs, then great. Otherwise I'll have to look at the 27"s for better specs-- unless you know how to beef up the 21" while keeping it cheaper than the 27"s.
Price isn't tooo much of an issue. I can afford up to a 27", 2.93GHz, i7 Quad, 5750 with 1GB. But if my maximum uses require significantly less than that, then I don't want to pay for power that's so far beyond necessary.
"Buy the best you can afford" is tempting, but in the end I'm a little too pragmatic and stingy for that.
Any advice/pointers/stories from experience would be welcome!
I was out at the Apple store this weekend and got a chance to play around with the new MBA air. My favourite part had to be the new 13.3" high resolution screen. I especially liked the silver bezel and the fact that it didn't have that annoying (imo) glass covering.
I think a resolution bump is a given for the 13" 2011 MBP but what about the other features of the MBA's screen such as Silver bezel and losing the glass. Ditching the glass would also help lighten the machine.
