Hardware :: Best Webcam For Mac/PC Use Through Bootcamp?
May 6, 2009
I started looking for a used iSight for my new MP, but the prices are crazy! I thought I should get one so I could use it with Skype on OS X or Windows, and MSN with video on Windows so I can talk with my family back in Australia.
I figured I could get something different for much cheaper and get way more quality.what would work in either bootcamp and OS X, but work with iChat, Photobooth etc as well?
I need to stream a video of my choosing using amsn in OsX. I found an app named macam that is suposed to do just that, among other things. I followed the intructions but I just can't get it to recognize the dummy webcams.
I have a Mac Pro and am looking for a Webcam/Mic. There are many on the market so I'm having a hard time deciding which one to get. I know some are HD and I'd be glad to get an HD webcam but that is not necessary. I have several questions:
-I have looked at mainly Logitech Webcams but are there other brands I should look at?
-I want one that will mount to the top of the monitor
-I use the Mac side mainly and would like to use it with Photobooth, iChat, and Facetime and possibly Skype in the future. There are times that I use Windows XP or Windows 7 through VMWare so I would like a webcam that has drivers for both Mac OS 10.6 and Windows XP/7
-The other feature I would like is one that has a built in mic. There are times I will only use the mic and not the video. Is it possible to get a webcam that works also in mic/sound mode only?
I just got my net yesterday for my new iMac. And well I downloaded Mac: Messenger (Windows Live Messenger) and I noticed I don't have the webcam feature. Do I have to download something else for it ?
I'm not very tech-savvy, but I did change the owner's name to mine on the computer, changed the internet connection to my wireless, changed the password, and even renamed this computer.
Have I done enough to safeguard my privacy even if they may still have the serial number?
I've heard the green light must go on, but is there a way for them to look at me without the green light.
have tried Logitech C250 but software supplied does not appear to support Mac..- skype download is okay. Guess it is because it is old. Most cameras seem to be for 10.4 and over.
Used migration assistant to move my Blackbook apps and settings to the Air using a Time Machine backup from my Time Capsule - wirelessly. Two hours later (not terrible) and I'm using my Air with all my apps and setting - fantastic.
Question: My Blackbook also has a Bootcamp partition running Windows - is there a way to take that image and migrate it to my MB Air? I'd rather not have to purchase the Superdrive and re-install/setup the Windows OS on my Air....
had a bootcamp partition which I eventually ended up removing again with the bootcamp assistant. Now I want to create the bootcamp partition again, and when I start up the assistant, there is a 5gb leftover partition of the old bootcamp it seems. I just can't resize it... I've tried anything as low as resizing it to 10gb to 100gb... both fails.I have more than 200gb free space.I have just run a full defrag with iDefrag I've tried to do fileoptimization with techtool pro v5 I tried using camptune (which only works if you already have a working bootcamp partition, which I dont.
im on a goal to resize my bootcamp partition... im running 10.6.4 with Win7 in Bootcamp... i made a mistake of only making a 80GB partition for windows 7.... now i want to make it bigger, i have read up on a number of methods but most are outdated and users report issues with windows 7 and SL so i'm a lil stuck... this is my idea
I have 120GB unused HDD space atm so could i.. back up my 80GB partition to a DMG with disk utility then delete the old partition making the whole 200GB unallocated space... then use the bootcamp utility to re occupy the space then use disk utilities restore option to restore the image of the 80GB to the new 200GB partition... would this work? if not has anyone got any other methods to use with 10.6.4 SL and Win7?
I have a G4 with OSX 10.3.9 and need a webcam to use with Skype. All I can find are webcams for PC's. I understand that there are webcams that are UVC compliant and can be used with Macintosh OS X 10.4.9 and up, but not 10.3.9 What webcams can I use with 10.3.9?
I am looking for a quality HD or even FULL HD webcam that captures smooth video on my MacBook pro. This cam is used to do some video recording of my dj sessions for friends and colleagues. Sound is taken from a high end sound interface.
I was told that Logitech webcams like the full HD C910 cannot work together with my Mac OS X (driver not exist). Is that right?
What other choice do I have to record better quality HD movie via webcam?
I have a iBook and would like to get a webcam to work with MSN Messenger for Mac 5.1.1. Unfortunately my budget does not stretch to an iSight. Can someone advise on a compatible webcam that would work with Tiger and MSN Messenger.
my friend recently inherited a g4 iBook running leopard. these ones were just before apple began adding webcams. hence there is no webcam on this laptop, does anyone know of a good webcam that is compatible with OS X leopard and the g4 iBook.
I am hooking a mac mini up to my HDTV and plan on hooking up my web cam on top of the TV and don't know what web cam to get. I need it to have a built in mic and display decent video. I would like to spend $50 but I will spend more if I have to.
I have a MacBook with built in webcam, external webcam, and iChat. Next to everyone who has a Mac on iChat is the green box, but there is a phone icon rather than a video icon.
Video chats used to work, but suddenly they stopped. Clicking the green icon next to my name on top opens a box that days "My Build-in iSight" and I can see myself in that webcam, but can not make video chats. How can I fix this?
Alright, so I've previously made a thread about deciding to get the 2.66 Quad Core Mac Pro. And I'm probably going to purchase one. Just one more thing. What is the best webcam out there that I can use for my 20" Cinema Display? I know that the new Microsoft Webcam can do 720p now, which is really nice, but I was wondering if there was a good webcam that is Mac compatible?
I recently about 6 weeks ago got a iBook G4. Today i bought a webcam from the local supermarket, I need to know how to i make it work with msn also what version of msn do i need to download to view webcams?

I went to the Target website and they have this new sweepstakes and you need to how your webcam on..so I'm new to Mac and didn't know how to turn it on so it asked me to hit something that said "usb" and I did and now my cam is not working.
My fiancee got her first mac, a mbp, today and we are struggling with finding a chat client that she can use on the mac and that i can use on my pc that will allow for video calls/webcams between us. Can anyone recommend me a good client that we can use?
