i have all my files created in iwork8, i would like to know before purchasing iwork09 if are there any compatibilities issues. let me be more specific and explain what i mean, suppose i have this file in keynote09, can i use it in keynote08, and if so with what drawbacks?

I'm pretty sure I have iWeb '09 seeing as how I bought my Mac in early 2010.I'm supposed to help make a website for a friend's business and he wants me to make sure that it is backwards compatible to iWeb '08 which he has. (So he can update things on it and such)Are there any special things I need to do with iWeb to make it backwards compatible?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI recently bought a new MacBook Pro and used the iWork '09 trial that was offered - and thought it was great. I made lots of new documents in the trial period but at the end of it, I thought I would see if I could install my old version of iWork 08 from a previous computer. I found that I could do this, but it would not open any iWork '09 files, so I had to buy iwork '09 anyway as I had done so much work with it. I got caught out I think! Did anyone else find this too?

I tossed the Word Plist file and that did not work.
I have run Virus Barrier X5 and found a about 10 files with Virus 'W97M/Pinky.B' "Quarantened" them and still have the problem.
The problem started -- I think -- when I was doing heavy editing between Numbers and Word. But I don't think it is related (though who knows at this point). Without these programs I'm rendered pretty useless.

I need to update iWork on my Mac cos iWork 08 docs don't work on my new iPad. But iWork 09 is about 18 months old now so surely will be updated soon. Would anyone who is learned in the product cycle of Mac apps care to hazard an educated guess on an update?

I've been using a trial version and I'm going to buy it, but I was wondering if I should stick it out by using google docs in the event that they release iwork '09. By the way, in case any admins are reading this post, why don't they include Apple software in the Buyers Guide?

View 5 Replies View RelatedSo I used the iWork '09 trial for 30 days now and now I have a box version and I want to simply use the buy function from the trial to upgrade to the full non-trial version. It has: Quote: If you've purchased an iWork '09 box, you'll find the serial number on the Installing iWork '09 booklet. There's only one problem, there's no serial number on the booklet! How do I install using the buy function or do I have to install the full iWork suite again on my computer? Seems kind of silly. If so, do I need to then uninstalling one of my versions of iWork '09? And if so, which one? How do I tell the difference at that point?
Some of you might be wondering and about to comment on the fact that I should have just bought the online version and saved the hassle. The reason why I bought the box is because I could get it for $39 at my girlfriend's campus computer store.
I know this probably has been answered elsewhere on this forum...but I can't find it. I already own iWorks 08. Is there enough of a difference/improvement between 08 and the 09 that would make it worth getting (I am a cheap Presbyterian you know)? From what I have read it seems that most really love the 09 Keynote.

(ie. if I make a document in Pages I can use either latexit or mathtype, but when I open up in Word 2007 or 2010 will the equations come up? Likewise, if I put equations into a Word document, when I open them up in Pages will they show?)

I am having problems with my Mac G4, and it's been suggested it may be the motherboard. Therefore I'm considering getting a new iMac. I am concerned about what software i have, and what will be compatible with a new machine. Safari maybe once every 5 minutes, Firefox less so. The more demanding the program, the more frequent the crashes become. Mac os itself actually crashes fairly often too.
I'm running Mac OS X 10.5.8. I upgraded both my ram and hard drive personally when I got my laptop, but i've never had problems before the update and both sets of hardware were compatible. (i forget the technical spec).

I have a 2006 Mac Pro 1,1 with dual Xeon 2.66GHz. One of my favorite apps on my Macs is iStat Menus for which I purchased a family pack. I am running latest version 3. However, when I added it to my Mac Pro I am getting goofy CPU temp readings. At idle I am reading about 60C on one CPU and 55C on the other. But then if I fire up all the cores (Handbrake for example) then the reported CPU temps DROP to about 48C and 43C (notice same differential of 5C between CPUs). All the fan speeds stay the same so it is not extra cooling kicking in. Seems to be reading the wrong thing.
I know with Intel that the CPU just reports the distance to Tjmax and then the software reading that number takes the TjMax reading for that particular CPU model and figures out the corresponding Tj. It almost seems to be what is happening is that iStat is reading the "distance to TjMax" and reporting that without doing the math. That would account for the reading working backwards I suppose.
I accidentally deleted my "downloads" stack, so I dragged the "downloads" folder from my home directory into the dock. Lo and behold, the stack came back...but not the way I remembered it. Everything was "backwards" if I tried to sort by "date added". Normally, the most recent downloads are at the bottom; however, now it is backwards. I didn't lose any files, but it is very annoying! I Googled this issue and it seemed like trashing the dock plist would solve the problem. I did that, logged out, and logged back in, and it sure did reset all of the dock settings to their defaults - everything, of course, EXCEPT for the downloads stack! It did more harm than good - all of my icons are out of place now, and yet I am still having the same old "backwards" issue with the downloads stack. Does anyone know where this problem actually lies?

I know on their website it says that this webcam is not officially supported by the Mac OS. However I am wondering if there is anyway I could make it work. I would be using it for Facetime, Skype, and Photobooth. I read that you can run the Webcam in UVC mode, but I'm not sure if these applications will still work with it.

View 3 Replies View RelatedWell I am about to give up on Apple's OS-X Mail program. In my business am I converting from Windows laptop's to MacBooks. Everybody is really happy to start using OS-X and have the benefit of the improved stability and extended battery life. So far so good. But now we have run in to a severe problem in the compatibility of Apple Mail and Outlook. If we send emails to Outlook clients (99% of the time) our signatures end up as and separate .HTML attachment in the Outlook client. We tried everything but the main problem is that Apple Mail does not generate HTML-mail, but RTF-mail. This RTF format is compliant with the standards but Outlook uses its own RTF specs. So now I am forced to use Entourage (that works) but I want to get away from anything Microsoft because of the excessive price and very limited support. For a full licence I would have to pay $339 per user, just to get this compatibility issues out of the way. For 28 users that is still a lot of money (9500 $). Does anybody have an alternative, so I do not need to make Bill richer then he already is. I looked at Mozilla email client, does not work either.

When I scroll away from myself, it scrolls down the page and when I scroll towards myself it scrolls up the page. Just the opposite of what it did before the upgrade.
