My old MB got attacked by some tea and died. So now i have a new unibody although the main thing that i have lost from my old MB is my iWeb pages.
I have mobile me, and have the site published to that. How can i download the site to my MB in iWeb format? Iv tried downloading them as HTML but iWeb can't open them.
Here's my situation:I created a site using iWeb '08. Many months passed and I wasn't doing anything with that particular site any longer, so I nuked the pages within iWeb and have since worked on new projects. Now I need to do some work on that old site again.I have all of the created content in a folder that had been stored on my server, but I have nary a clue how to get it all back into iWeb again.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've created a site with a theme in iWeb 08 that has been removed from iWeb 09. I've put a lot of work into customizing the theme, and iLife 09 is currently being shipped to me. In iWeb 09, can I still maintain and build on this site even though the theme is not included anymore? And, if not, is there a way that I can find the theme data in Finder and copy and paste that into the theme data files in iWeb 09?
View 7 Replies View RelatedIs anyone having an issue with iWeb '09s FTP connections? I have a server running Windows Server 2003. For a while now I have been using filezilla and it has worked just fine.
Using iWeb 09', I have it configured the same way as i do in filezilla. It connects to my server and logs in fine, but when it try to do the test upload, it says it is unable to write. Now why would iWeb not be able to write by filezilla can?
I want to upload my site with Iweb, but i don't use mobileme, and i don't know how to upload my site for everyone!
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have my work portfolio on iWeb, and a few other sites and am about to start another site, and wanted to check something:
I read somewhere about there not being recent updates for iWeb, and wanted to make sure that nothing drastic is changing, basically that iWeb is still going strong and will be around for a good long time.
Is it possible to run 2 websites or more now with iWeb 09? I could not figure it out in 08 but I thought I read that you can in 09. This is using one MobileMe account btw.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have been trying for the past week to publish a website using FTP. I have a great piece of software to publish it, but no FTp space, as AOL (my ISP) has shut theirs down. I have been browsing google for ages with no luck, so does anyone know if it is possible to obtain FREE ftp space to publish an iWeb website to, and if so, how and what...?
View 2 Replies View RelatedHas anyone had problems with re-publishing to a folder, after updating web pages with iWeb? What happens for me is that iWeb creates a 2nd 'site' folder within the already existing 'site' folder, duplicating all the web pages, which seriously confuses the server! The only way I have so far found to avoid this is to delete everything from my website folder before re-publishing. I'd be grateful if someone has an answer to this.

View 1 Replies View RelatedThis is literally the first time I've opened iWeb so I'm very new to using it, although it doesn't look too complex. I'm pretty sure I have iWeb '09 seeing as how I bought my Mac in early 2010.I'm supposed to help make a website for a friend's business and he wants me to make sure that it is backwards compatible to iWeb '08 which he has. (So he can update things on it and such)Are there any special things I need to do with iWeb to make it backwards compatible?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm glad to have a more seamless solution with iWeb (ditching Transmit) but even though I have the 'Directory/Path' set to '/' I think it's needlessly duplicating my URL name and I can't remove it. I'll explain.
Say my site is example.com. I want to make a page called test.html. It ends up loading it to:
[URL]
In this case, in the site publishing settings pane (which isn't very intuitive to find, I'll add) under Site name: it defaults to 'example' and even if I delete 'example' then save it or publish changes or do anything, 'example' pops back in there automatically and it publishes it accordingly.
I hope I've made my question clear. I definitely have a dangerously low level of understanding when it comes to FTP transfers and domain names, etc.
So I was just thinking it would be cool if we started a thread where everyone posts links to websites they've created in iWeb.

View 12 Replies View Relatedi'm new to the whole we publishing world and I need a little help. I've created a personal page on iWeb, and now I want to publish it, but not on .mac. here is what i want:
i. i want a to be able to have my own domain name; www.(myname).com
ii. i want it cheap! $8/mo or chearper
iii. my own e-mail address that i can maybe link with Web Mail on osx
iv. it needs to be easy......
i've looked into godaddy.com, but i just don't understand how i would get my iWeb site to it.
So I created a portfolio online using iWeb on an iBook. I have it published on .Mac. I am changing jobs and have to turn in my ibook and don't want to lose my work. I need to know how I can get my iWeb created web site into iWeb on my iMac at home?
(How many i's can I type in a paragraph?!?!)
I have searched the online and tried several options. I tried publishing it to a folder on my iBook, copied it to the iMac but can't find a way to import it into my iWeb on my iMac.
i'm trying to make a website with iWeb, and for some reason I can't move that darned menu bar on the top of all the templates. I am using the "modern frame" template.
Really, I just want to put a banner above the menu, but for some reason I can't figure out how to do it. Any ideas?
I'm using iWeb '06 1.1.2 on an Intel iMac.
I moved my iWeb files around to consolidate and discard duplicate files between my Mac's HD, duplicate files on the desktop and an external drive. I just did an update to my site and to my horror, it "couldn't save media files" - and showed a long list of files. I went and found them from the new location on my HD and re-dropped the movie and picture files in. Then, when I tried to save, it listed three new but non-specific files ("movie" "dropped pict image"). I checked the pages and all pictures and videos are visible. Then when I tried to save again, almost the entire previous list of "Missing" files (most of which were visible anyway) came up again as being unable to be saved.
Then, when saving, it doesn't know where iWeb is. Here's the error message:
"The location of the document iWeb cannot be determined. You can specify where to save it."
So it called itself "Domain" and it saved itself to the Desktop. Then it told me that it would be replaced...fine. The thing is, it has never done this before. I looked in the my-name-little house-folder/Library/Application Support/iWeb, and there is a Domain file in there too, and it opens the same iWeb as the one on the desktop.
I have no idea why this is happening. Something has gone screwy - obviously it did not like having its files moved around, but I have replaced those files from the same ones in the new location.
I can't save the files, and can't close the application. I tried again, and now it shows a whole new list of files it "can't save".
My website looks fine after the update I did earlier this summer and I don't want to lose the work I put into it.
there is a way to get rid of the "do you want to use Mobile Me" window that pops up when i open iWeb. I dont have mobile me and it is some what annoying that EVERY time i open iWeb it ask me. you would think that after enough time of saying no it would learn.

It's been a different filename every time I have tried it.
I just had my logic board replaced in my imac g5 (running OSx 10.4.11) and I have been having issues since, most recently the iphoto and iweb not booting. To solve some of my previous issues I had to to a "Archive and Install". I had to reinstall some of my prgms after that because they were not working properly (including iphoto). When I try and run either of the programs the icon bounces once and then nothing. I have also tried creating another user and tried; no luck that way.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm not sure if this is a Mobile Me issue or an iWeb 09 issue
I recently upgraded from iWeb 08 to 09. Made some changes to my website no problem, and published it no problem.
For the last week, however, any changes i've made won't publish to the site. Any time I say "publish" it just opens a dialogue saying "sign into Mobile Me" "Learn More" or "Cancel. so I say sign in, and it opens my system preferences to Mobile Me, where I am already signed in.
So I never had this problem before but recently, my iWeb (09) will not publish any albums. Everything else, works ok but albums are no go. At first, I thought it was the fact of 300 pics so i toned it down to like 50. No go. Then I thought, ok, the pics came from my Sony and my friends Sony and another friends Canon, maybe there was a corrupt file somewhere. So I made an album with just a single photo from an old pic, same thing. And here is what happens, when you create an Album, you can insert the photos in no problem, but when you try to save or publish to MobileMe, it just freezes. You see the bar go across to create the sit and the album and like 1-% in, Arnold dresses up as Mr. Freeze and just blasts my iWeb. Now Freeze
