Applications :: IWork 09 Install - Asks For Serial?
Nov 30, 2009
I purchased iWork 09 Retail Box from the Apple Store on Black Friday. It arrived today (excellent speed from the Store!) but it keeps prompting me for a serial number so that I can use it. I previously had the trial installed which has since expired a few days ago (although I could still use it for some reason) so I thought it may be something to do with that. I then uninstalled all three and re-installed but it still asks me for a serial number and doesn't seem to give me another other choice other than back out and not enter the program. I've tried to Google the problem and all I get are dodgy sites trying to tell me the serial and others saying that the serial system has been removed from iWork retail boxes.
I have a quick question about the iWork '09 Retail box (for those of you who bought it). I downloaded the iWork '09 trial from Apple's website. When I launched Pages I was greeted with the Buy or Try screen. I bought myself a serial number. I have noticed now, that when I go into any iWork app if I click Pages/Keynote/Numbers in the menubar next to the Apple logo, I get the menu for About, Preferences, Register iWork, Quit, etc. I know that the retial box copies no longer require a serial number. My question is this: does the retail iWork disc still show "Try iWork..." as a greyed out menu option under the Pages/Keynote/Numbers menu? For the trial (that was bought with a legit serial, it does) So I was wondering if the retial box version does also? Like this:
I have macbook pro 10.4 with iWork '08. I plan to get the serial number key to fully activate it. I went through the apple store but couldn't locate anything helpful to help me get the serial number key for the iWork '08, i only found the serial number key for iWork '09. Would the keys for '09 works with '08?
I bought iWork09 (family) and I have installed it but when I open any apps it asks for a serial number. I have checked on the box and online and looks like it doesn't come with a serial number, I mean you don't need it.
I downloaded the trial of iWork '09 and I really like it. It complements Office 2008 really well, better in some ways. Anyway, I want to purchase it from the Apple Store. I can either purchase a serial number that is emailed to me to enter into the trial version or a boxed version that is shipped to me. Which way should I go? I guess if I get the boxed, I have to install the trial and reinstall from the DVD or something? Is getting the serial number just as good?
I installed a trial of iWork 09 yesterday to get a feel for it, liked it so went out today and purchased the box from my local Apple Store. I know about the whole not needing a serial number now however it is asking me for one since the install on all three applications. I removed the trial and all evidence of it and restarted my macbook before installing the box.
So I used the iWork '09 trial for 30 days now and now I have a box version and I want to simply use the buy function from the trial to upgrade to the full non-trial version. It has: Quote: If you've purchased an iWork '09 box, you'll find the serial number on the Installing iWork '09 booklet. There's only one problem, there's no serial number on the booklet! How do I install using the buy function or do I have to install the full iWork suite again on my computer? Seems kind of silly. If so, do I need to then uninstalling one of my versions of iWork '09? And if so, which one? How do I tell the difference at that point?
Some of you might be wondering and about to comment on the fact that I should have just bought the online version and saved the hassle. The reason why I bought the box is because I could get it for $39 at my girlfriend's campus computer store.
I bought a mac that came installed with Adobe CS4 but I had to reinstall the OS due to issues - I was given the CS4 installation disks but no serial number, and now Photoshop is asking for it.
do I have any options or am I up ***** creek? Considering I have the actual disks I thought it was worth asking
I got a MacBook with Microsoft Office 2008. When I try to install it on my wifes Mac it warns me "the license is only for one machine". I uninstalled it and tried with a new Office 2008 software with new serial but when I try to do so, it always says that the serial number is the previous one, so the machine kept the original serial number and does not let me install the new office. I tried almos everything, unsuccessfullly. How to install a new Office 2008 serial? How do I uninstall completely the previous version?
My 2006 iMac died a couple of months ago and I got a 13" MBP for Christmas. Yesterday I was working on installing everything on it and started to install FCE, which yes I did buy perfectly legally ;-)
Anyway I seem to have misplaced the booklet with the serial number on it so I can't complete the install. If I call Apple support will they be able to give me another serial? I'd hate to think I've wasted $200 just because I lost a $.50 booklet that came with it. I have a full backup of my iMac on an external drive so I don't know if maybe there is a library file or something that I could use to recover my password? I just thought I'd pose the question here before calling them because I'm sure their hold times are crazy this time of year.
I have a: Macbook Pro running Mac OSX 10.5.8 (Office 2008) Word, Exel, PowerPoint, (Iwork 2009) Numbers, Pages will not save:. I tossed the Word Plist file and that did not work. I have run Virus Barrier X5 and found a about 10 files with Virus 'W97M/Pinky.B' "Quarantened" them and still have the problem.
The problem started -- I think -- when I was doing heavy editing between Numbers and Word. But I don't think it is related (though who knows at this point). Without these programs I'm rendered pretty useless.
props to Stuipdboy1000 on the heads up under Quick Links you can see iWork '11

I need to update iWork on my Mac cos iWork 08 docs don't work on my new iPad. But iWork 09 is about 18 months old now so surely will be updated soon. Would anyone who is learned in the product cycle of Mac apps care to hazard an educated guess on an update?
Is there any talk of an update of iwork '08 during Macworld '09? I am a switcher to Mac as of last month and I really like pages instead of word. I've been using a trial version and I'm going to buy it, but I was wondering if I should stick it out by using google docs in the event that they release iwork '09. By the way, in case any admins are reading this post, why don't they include Apple software in the Buyers Guide?
Does anyone else notice that their is no serial key when you install SL? I know with Windows their always is, but I couldn't find it on my upgrade box just making sure there isn't one.
I just got the new 27" iMac and want to install my copy of iWork '09 on it. Do I need to somehow "deauthorize" it on my old Mac for it to install? It's a single user license so how does Apple regulate it from being installed on multiple Macs?
I bought last month an iWork and installed in my mini. I sold my mini to buy a macbook pro, but I did formatted the hard drive. Can I install the iWork on my new mp, if its registered in my name?
I have downloaded iWork '09, tried it and registered it, and am using it on a Mini. So far, no problem.
Being an honest fellow, I had bought the "family" license, so that my wife can use it on her laptop. I copied the entire iWork folder (Keynote, Numbers & Pages) into the Applications folder on the laptop and, of course, gave her the registration key.
When she tries to launch one of the applications, she never reaches the stage of being asked to enter the key. The only thing she gets is a message saying that there is a problem, and she should check with the developer to see whether the software is compatible with her version of OS X, and it may be necessary to reinstall the software.
The OS X version is the same on both computers (10.6.5).
I have parallels 4 installed and I want to install windows XP. My school gives us legal copies of windows 98 and a windows xp upgrade. However, neither of these comes in the form of a CD image. They are both .exe files. Parellels asks for a CD or CD image. Is there a way to install windows 98 from an .exe in parallels?
And if so will I be able to use the windows xp upgrade once i have windows 98 installed? I haven't yet tried creating a CD image with the exe file on it. I don't know if this would work because it's all in one file and not a typical windows install disk.
16Gb ST Lab SSD drive - I was wondering if anyone knew if it was a benefit to install the OS / ilife 09 / iWork in here, would I see an improvement in terms of performance in comparison to my 320Gb 5400 (which I will soon be upgrading to a scorpioblack 500Gb)
Install a memorycard reader in here as at the moment I am transferring my digital pictures either via usb from camera or via an adaptor.
Ideally I would like to go with option one, but only if that actually improves the performance of my system.
