View 3 RepliesI am a new mac user (total convert--am on my second iMac in a month and am about to buy a macbook), and am having trouble with my itunes service. My first 24" iMac developed a clicking HDD, so I was lucky enough to be able to bring it back to the shop for a replacement iMac. I made a time machine backup of the first Mac and copied directly to the second one (which was flawless....how come I haven't been using macs prior to now? I've lost dozens of backups on PC). The only issue I've had is with iTunes--I keep getting an error that the iTunes library is newer than the version of iTunes on the computer. Is there anyway to fix this without losing my entire library of songs? I did make up a physical copy of the iTunes folder on my first Mac, just in case, so I assume that I could delete iTunes and reinstall a fresh copy, update it, and then copy the iTunes folder over to the new version. But this is a Windows approach to the issue and there is probably a simpler way of fixing this. Alternately, I could do the same but sync my iPod and copy everything to my library that way.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a batch of HD video downloads in my iTunes Store queue that I can't delete. Before it was annoying, having to purchase both the regular video and HD video, then delete the unwanted HD download from my queue list, but now it's a problem. I can't empty the unwanted HD downloads, and for me to download them all will tie up my connection for a week or more.
I do not have the bandwidth
I loved the Genius Recommendation Panel on iTunes 9 and found lots of new songs and artists when using itI cannot believe Apple removed it from iTunes 10 and replaced it with a social networking site with the awful title "Ping"
So I replaced iTunes 9 last night, only to find that it wouldn't accept my iTunes library. I managed to reload the songs, but I have lost all my playlists, star ratings, play counts, etc. Its all gone.
Brand new convert to Mac here: After receiving an iPod Touch from my boss when he upgraded to an iPhone, I have fallen in love with the Mac hardware and OS. I just got a new macbook and would like to transfer my iTunes from my old PC laptop. I am also a neophyte to iTunes so forgive me if there is a very simplistic answer to this issue.
The physical music is located on my external drive connected to the PC with the iTunes original music locations pointed to it . My specific question is, if I backup iTunes, restore to the Mac, plug in the external drive to the Mac, will it work seamlessly? I'm not sure if the existing iTunes music locations will re-synch since the music locations on the laptop iTunes are mapped to the "G:" drive. If it won't work that way, what do you recommend as the best way to go about it? I want to make sure I don't waste as much time as when I initially set up my iTunes/iPod touch (simply stuck in "PC" mindset).
I think I found a bug in iTunes, because I can find no other explanation. Every once in a while (like once every three weeks) my iTunes window goes down. By this I mean everytime i click a different playlist, view, category, iTunes store, the window moves down a bit leaving this gap at the top. It randomly comes and goes, and its not really a big deal, but it does get really annoying. Is anyone else getting this? and no, im not just moving the window down
Heres a before and after:

I have an AOL iTunes account and would like to convert it into a regular iTunes account. I know how to do this but I used my AIM screen name and I don't have a credit card so I can't use the method from Apple Knowledge Base. Is there any other way to do this?

View 3 Replies View RelatedOkay, I know that when iTunes LPs and iTunes Extras first came out, iTunes could not play them full screen.
I don't know when it happened, but I just noticed that I *CAN* play them full screen now. (Either by selecting "View" -> "Full Screen"; hitting Command-F, or clicking a new "Full screen" widget at the upper-right on the "title bar" for the LP/Extra within the content pane of iTunes.)
But, strangely, this only appears on one of my computers, even though both are running the same version of OS X (10.6.2,) and the same version of iTunes (9.0.2.)
Does anyone know the secret to enabling this? I have checked every single setting in iTunes, both menus and preferences, and they are all perfectly matched between the two computers.
i use to be able for example take a .mp3 that is on my desktop and drag it into itunes and it would then be in the music list on itunes, now i cant do it, i have updated to the latest version and still nothing... i have reinstalled itunes it worked i restarted the computer and i open itunes and i can
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have 2 macs with two completely independent iTunes databases. They are used for differnt purposes and contain different music. I really do not want to merge these two databases.
From time to time I need to selectively transfer some few songs from the one computer to the other one. Is there a clever way I can achieve this? I would like to transfer the files including the metadata.
I just switched from PC to Macbook pro. How can i transfer music in itunes in my PC to itunes in my new mac. Is there any free sofware i could use to transfer all the music? I used one software, but it is not free and i tried the unregistered version which only enabled me to transfer 500 songs, but i have 800-ish songs.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI recently adjusted International in my System Preferences to British English so that I wouldn't keep getting prompts to spell in the US fashion.
However, I preferred the US version of iTunes with Movies/TV Shows instead of Films/TV Programmes and Seasons instead of Series.
Is there any way to change iTunes without affecting anything else?
Is the there a way to force iTunes to store my mobile applications on my external drive automatically?I have my library set to an external and all my music, movies, etc goes onto the proper location except the mobile applications. I know I can use the consolidate library command, which will move the apps to the external. But as soon as I d/l another app iTunes begins saving them to the default folder again.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI was grabbing the iTunes 8 icon from its .app, and found the icon remains unchanged since iTunes 7.
It says "Apple 2006", "iTunes 7", "?20806". (Attached)
It's not that important by the way, because I don't see icons in full 512x512. Even in 512x512 it's not noticeable. (That's why this is a trivia.)
does anyone know of a straight forward way of ripping a DVD to iTunes, with artwork and film information all in one go? I want to get my DVD collection digital.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm just wondering why we can't rip DVDs using iTunes? Why doesn't Apple enable such a feature?
It seems to me a lot of the early popularity of iTunes and iPods came from people ripping their CDs and uploading the music to their iPods. I would think having the ability to rip DVDs using iTunes would help to do for digital video what ripping CDs did for digital audio(i.e. mp3s).
I think the ability to rip DVDs would give the TV a real boost.
I think an TV would be cool to have, but I have no interest in buying videos from the iTunes store. I would rather rip my own DVDs and be able to watch them with the convenience of an TV. I know there are work arounds and hacks to get other video on the TV, but I don't really like them, they are so un-Apple. I just want to pop in a DVD, pick my bitrate(or DVD equivalent), and rip away. (I'm sure there are others with the same feelings as me.)
I think if Apple wants to get more people onboard with digital/streaming video with iTunes and the TV they should include DVD ripping as a feature.
What is stopping Apple? Is it a legal issue? Does Apple not want anything competing with its iTunes store?
I have my itunes account set up on my external hard drive due to a lot of pics and video on my itunes. I want to set up another itunes with just my music on my laptop. Is this possible. If so, how?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI started iTunes this evening and as it opened a "thermometer"-type dialog appeared that said something about "converting" and "xml". (I didn't pay much attention as I was doing something else while it opened.) Once it opened, iTunes started going through all my music resetting volume. By this time I knew something was not normal. Then I noticed that, while my music appeared to be there, none of my Apps are, nor are any of the podcasts I had subscribed to. I had just synced my iPhone this a.m. with no discernible problem. I had deleted some duplicate episodes of one podcast (which are still in my trash), but that was the only thing that I had done out of the ordinary. Can anyone tell me:
1) What happened (and how do I prevent it from happening again)?
2) How do I get my apps and my podcasts back?
3) If I have to restore from my latest Time Machine backup (which is more than 10 days old, I'm afraid), how would I do that
How come this feature has never been released? How many times have you been listening to music with friends through a stereo, or simply enjoying a good shuffle list, and all of a sudden you're struck with an urging to hear a different song. Problem is, you don't want to leave the one you're on, you only want to listen to it next. And even after you finish listening to it, you want to be able to resume your previous shuffle list. Seems common enough right?
Then why has Apple never released this feature? I understand the ability to make customizable playlists, but we're not talking about lots of songs. Just one single song. And it could be designed to only allow one song to be qued. Not too challenging I would think.
And it would be so easy to implement. Add a button next to the genius button on the bottom of iTunes with a big Q on it. Highlight the song you want, press that button, and BAM. Done. On an iPod touch/iPhone, just swipe over the song you want to que up (like in email), and a red button will pop up saying "que" and done. And on an iPod with a click wheel, maybe hold down the center button and the fast-foward button when you're highlighted over the song you want to que and done.
When I hit ⌘+t to turn on the visualizer, it looks like the attached pic. It only uses the bottom left corner of the screen. But, when I hit escape and then select Full Screen/hit ⌘+f it works properly.
