View 6 Replies View RelatedBefore you ask...NOT the custom dictionary...it doesn't contain the words I'm having trouble with.
How can I remove "incorrect" words from the basic Mac Dictionary? E.g. when I type the word "internet" anywhere in an application, browser, Google, etc. it auto-corrects to "Internet" (capitalized). The word "internet" doesn't need to be capitalized.
Same thing when I type "website"...it auto-corrects to "Web site" which is really dumb. Neither of these are in my custom dictionary, so where the heck are they and how can I remove them?
I would like to be able to remove the word "basically" from the OS X spellchecker's default dictionary. The only wordlists that I can find are /usr/share/dict/words and /usr/share/dict/web2, and the spellchecker doesn't notice when I remove it from them. Is there somewhere else I could be looking, or is this an impossible task?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have somehow added the word "indadvertedly" to my dictionary. This is not a word in any known language. I have tried opening in TextEdit, Mail, and Word. I have tried right-clicking and choosing "Unlearn." Unlearn is not an option. I have tried opening Library-Spelling and editing the contained file (dynamic-text.dat) but this is not the spelling dictionary file and only contains a jumble of almost random letters. It is the only file in that folder. How to remove a custom word from the dictionary? I feel like it really shouldn't be this hard.
I am running OS 10.7.3, Word for Mac 2011, TextEdit 1.7.
does it have a tool like word art on ms word ?

It's still showing up in my Address Book because it has a little tab off to the right that clickable. I did a search thru spotlight for any instances of Plaxo and nothing shows up but its still there.
View 1 Replies View Relateddoes anybody know how to uninstall Divx? (or disable it temporarily)
i installed Divx on my MP to watch movies. then i installed WC3, but it keeps crashing. it seems that divx is the reason.
(i figure WC3 plays a small clip when we run it for the first time, and there might be some sort of conflict in the video codec, so WC3 crashes)
I deleted PS cs3 and wanted to reinstall it but when I go to install it it tells me to use a different installer. It also says that photoshop is intalled which it isnt. I have all the other applications like illustrator and stuff. How do I completely get rid of photoshop? I also dont have the original installer because im traveling.
View 8 Replies View RelatedMy woe started after the 10.5.3 update, Mail would crash basically every step of the way and I can't get my...well mail. Despite efforts to fix it, no luck. So, I know I can reinstall the entire app from scratch with my Leopard disk. My question is, how do I completely and utterly remove any traces of Maill.app on my computer...err?
I don't care about preferences, e-mails, none of it. I just want the app gone.
there is no uninstall option and i don't want the icon there if i'm not going to use it.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a question, which may seem lame, but I was just curious about something I'm going to be getting a new Mac soon and I was looking into backup applications and uninstall programs. I'm going to be installing about fifteen to twenty applications as demos just so I can see which ones suit my work best. Then I was planning to delete the applications I won't be using, and pay to unlock the ones that I will. My problem, though, is that I cant stand left over garbage left by applications that no longer exist! (pet peeve)
So I was thinking, maybe Ill use a good program to make a back up image of the hard disk, and when I'm done figuring out which apps to keep and which ones to uninstall, I can simply restore the entire drive from the image. Then Ill have a clean slate all over again. I was thinking maybe I should use SuperDuper to do this? What do you think?
I also looked into uninstall applications that seem pretty good. I found one called Clean-App and another called AppCleaner. After reading about them, it seems either they are too over zealous as in the case of Clean-App, or too passive like AppCleaner, which may leave files behind.
Anyway, after all of this back and forth, I was wondering what about Time Machine? Wouldnt this work? Couldnt I just attach a new drive, let it make the initial backup, and then detach it. Here I can go about installing everything under the sun to test drive it all, and when I finally make my decision on which apps to use, I can restore the entire disk to the way it was before I began?
Doesnt time machine work like system restore in Vista? Where anything installed after the restore point disappears cleanly as if by magic? (I hate comparing anything Mac to Windows, but its the only comparison I know.) Will this work? Do you think this is the best way to go about it (using Time Machine)? Should I use SuperDuper instead? Or should I just use a uninstall application and stop being so damn anal?
Ok I've tried to completely uninstall Adobe CS4 Suite with no success. I've uninstalled using the Adobe Uninstaller, then deleted every Adobe folder off my hard drive. I've also tried using the clean uninstall script from Adobe.
View 5 Replies View RelatedHow do you uninstall a program without having to purchase a third party software? I ran a search for the word "uninstall" in the whole application but there was no search results.
View 5 Replies View Relatedi cannot get the program to uninstall , it seems there is no such function ...
i deleted some of it thru the library , but its still on sys pref and other locations i'm sure...
and no 2nd 3rd party apps , i won't spend as much as divx would have cost me to remove it...
Could it be as simple as dragging an icon to the trash or how do you remove/uninstall an application?

I tried to install Aperture, after I have done a complete uninstall, but the install process does not go any further than hitting the ok button after entering Name/Company/Serial. The rainbow colored circle remains on forever, so I have to force quit every time.
I wonder, if I deleted any important install files form OSX accidently?
What I did was uninstalling Aperture: I searched for 'Aperture' in the Finder window, and deleted all files which showed up!
I have been attempting to uninstall office 2008. I open the supplied uninstaller (RemoveOffice.app) and let it run for a couple of hours but it never completes it's search for versions of Office to uninstall. I searched around but I have been unable to come up with any answers.

View 20 Replies View RelatedI was installing a driver for an Epson printer I'll be using, and a software called Arcsoft Print Creations was installed along with it.I didn't know what this program was, and now I'm a little annoyed with it. I've tried using AppZapper but it's not finding all the files. It took care of Print Creations, but I still can't get the Arcsoft logo out of the corner of my screen (see attached photo)
This logo is faded out most of the time, but it becomes solid when you mouse near it. It wants me to register my software, but I want it to go away. Right clicking brings an option to make the window never show again, but I want the program totally gone.Does anyone have any experience with removing software like this? Can anyone help me remove these files?
