I've tried to get Remobo to work on Leopard and Snow Leopard, and after the initial 'Create an Account' screen comes up, I fill in the form, and hit the 'Create' button, it freezes, then quits. I try again, and it just crashes before even getting started. Anyone had this issue and overcome it successfully? I"m looking for a good replacement to LogMeIn (no longer supported for Mac).

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy 2.33gh intel core 2 is acting erratic. The finder quits, stalls and freezes...it turns off and then reappears. Programs fail. adobe will not run. It was on during the huge electrical storm last weekend. It started acting like this after. It was on a surge protector, but those are not 100%.
I can get a ways into backing up files. I am attempting to install Lion, but I did not journal the partition. And It looks like I have to clean install and erase the HD. If power surge did damage, software will not work. Does the finder issue look like electrical damage?

The Thread topic says it all - does anyone know if the new Finder is now fully Cocoa based or is it still using Carbon? I am sick and tired of network hangs and such stuff which happens with the current Finder (Which seems to only work single-threadedly) and am looking forward to Leopard and hoping that it has been rewritten.
Somehow I have this gutfeeling, that they put this "Eyecandy"-Feature Coverflow on top of the old finder and changed nothing underneath.
I'm finally ready to upgrade from my Tiger OS to the new Lion. I have the disc, from Apple, to upgrade first to Snow Leopard and from there I'll immediately download Lion. I'm assuming there's no reason, and it's best not to open any files while I'm in Snow Leopard.Â
I have my Home folder backed up to an external hard drive. Is there anything else I should know or be aware of? Is there any special way to do this? I read something once about maybe doing a "clean install" of the new OS (Snow Leopard or Lion?). I don't really know what that is. Will that be necessary?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI finally got my mid 2011 MBA to connect to my preferred network when waking from sleep. It is something you may have read elsewhere but I can confirm it worked for me. You have to disable the "deep sleep mode". When a Air goes into deep sleep is when (for me) it failed to wake my network back up. I switched off deep sleep and not only does it wake up faster it wakes up connected to the Wi-fi network. How do you turn off deep sleep? Using the terminal commandÂ

If you are like me you may say what is a terminal command? Go to spotlight (that magnifying glass icon top right corner of your screen) and type terminal. Click the Terminal next to Applications. Copy paste the command I posted above and supply your password if you have one. What this does is disables the deep sleep mode that the Air's use for maximum battery life while left sleeping and on battery. This is why my Air always connected to wi-fi when it was plugged in to power, because it never enters deep sleep when on external power. Now the computer goes to sleep and wakes up as intended and no more turning airport on and off to start wi-fi back up. Try for yourself and if it does not work...your Air is broken (I guess). Â
If it did not work and you want to put the computer back to the way it was go back to terminal as above and then copy and paste this command back in.Â

In case you worried your computer now does not sleep, it does. It goes into plain sleep mode as the old Macbooks that awoke just fine used to do.

After many unsuccessful rounds of burning to DL DVDs and flash drives, I settled on making my iPod bootable and running it from there.So I'm excited and running my startup disk on my MBP as the iPod and I've connected my MBP to my iMac G5 PowerPC through firewire and enabled target mode. After booting into the iPod, it gave me the option to install to the new hard drive from the iMac G5 (which is currently connected to my MBP). I installed it through my MBP, and assumed it had installed to my G5.

I tried everything that has been suggested for these cases: removed beta version of Safari, remove Growl and any other third parties, remove the preferences file (.plist) and the user/Library/Mail folder. Nothing works! I set up another account on my Mac and Mail works there! I tried to use the new files that Mail generated for this new account for the old account but I couldn't make Mail to run.

iChat runs fine within another user account on the same machine.

I use iChat primarily to video chat with my girlfriend who's currently away for nursing school and prior to upgrading to SL, it worked fine. I don't know if upgrading had to do anything with it, but it's really become more prominent after the upgrade. Before posting this thread, it quit 4 times while using the video chat.
I would post the error details to see if anyone can decipher something out of it, but I don't want to unless it's needed.
But yeah, has anyone experienced it and if you have, would you happen to know a fix or if a fix is on the way from Apple?
Mac version 5.4 with iPhone app. Up to now the desktop version has worked flawlessly but now it will not launch - the password window flashes, then quits immediately. Downloaded the latest DMG and reinstalled, but the problem remains.
I am using Microsoft Word 2008 version 12.2.0 (last updated 12.2.1) and every time I try to switch to Notebook Layout View it just quits and tells me "Microsoft has encountered a problem and needs to quit."

Since yesterday when I open iWeb and click on the "Welcome" name to select the page (to modify or just look at it), iWeb immediatelly quits. The same happens when I follow a link to "Welcome" from another page.
I can access all other pages with no problems.
I tried deleting iWeb's preferences file, restoring an older copy of my domain.site2 file, overwriting iWeb with another copy of iWeb (same version), nothing changed.
This concerns iWeb 3.0 (build 301) on Mac OS X 10.6.2 (Darwin 10.2).
I am Using a new Intel Core 2 Duo MacBook. After having used, and been pleased with Firefox for years now, I find that it just isn't up to snuff on this system. It's super slow most of the time (whereas Safari isn't). It isn't optimized for some websites, like eBay.. Can't upload photos using Firefox. And each time I try to quit Firefox, I have to go in and manually "Force Quit" Because it freezes and won't quit on its own.

Everything seems to work fine *except* that everything hangs the moment I do something that opens a dialog box. For example, if I try to Save As or Open a document, the window will become unresponsive and I have to kill the process using the command line. View 1 Replies View RelatedI've just installed the whole iLife 09 package on a MacBook Pro 2.4 Ghz, 2 Gb RAM, 200 Gb disk (with 112 free Gb), and I have an issue I can't figure out how to fix it. Every time I try to change the "project settings", the program freezes and most of the times I have to shut it down using "alt+command+esc". It makes me feel like using a darn PC. It's the same if I try to acceed to the settings by clicking on the "LCD display" or by pressing "ctrl+command+F". The program just freezes without even letting me see the project settings (Tempo, Key, etc.). And I think that my computer settings shouldn't be a problem. A friend of mine had just the same trouble with a MacBook Pro just like mine. Meanwhile, I've been using GarageBand with a white MacBook with 1,83 Ghz and I've always used this feature without any problem!
View 3 Replies View RelatedI've been having a problem with iTunes that is driving me nuts. I'm not able to pinpoint exactly when it happened, but I think it was around the time v.8 came out.
iTunes freezes every time I start it up for around 7-8 minutes, then runs OK. This happens every time I start up, without fail.
It also freezes after (sometimes during) syncing with both my iPod Nano and iPhone 3G. It does this every time also, but it's inconsistent...sometimes it freezes during the sync, and sometimes it freezes afterward. Sometimes it takes me doing something like playing a song, but it always happens, regardless of whether I disconnect the device or leave it connected. It only does it after the initial sync; if I leave it connected and resync during the same connection it will not freeze again. The devices themselves are unaffected.
My iTunes library is 147gb. The actual library XML file is 69mb. I'd guess this has something to do with it, but if that is the case...what might be the cutoff size where this wouldn't happen any more? I used to have almost 350gb of stuff in iTunes...I've whittled it down this far and it still isn't helping!
I'm running the 1st gen MacBook Pro with 2gb RAM and a 320gb hard drive. I have approximately 30gb free on the drive, so I don't think hard drive space or RAM is the issue (although I have no way of knowing for sure).
Is there anyone else with libraries this size who are or aren't having the same problem? Can I do anything besides delete more music? And if so, how much do I need to delete? Can the XML file be optimized in any way?
ETA: I did the 8.2 update that came out today and it hasn't changed anything.
I'm new to iMac, with a brand new 21.5" and Snow Leopard OS, current version of iDVD. I saved a slide show (approx 240 pics, with audio tracks ripped from CD) from "Photo to Movie 4.2.7" twice, once as a DV movie, again as a Quicktime movie...both around 3.5 GB. In both instances, after dragging the the movies into iDVD and setting up, the resulting movie plays on the iMac, using iDVD preview or Quicktime player, but when I burn on a DVD, the movie "freezes" at approx. the midpoint..that is, the DVD continues to play but the image freezes on the last picture from the movie that burned successfully. There is no music transition at that point, so that is not the issue, and there is no file size warning in iDVD.

"Rosetta Stone[73642] Warning once: This application, or a library it uses, is using

I tried to repair permissions but it changed nothing.
Late this morning on my iMac 24" with 10.6.2 it didn't matter whether I was using Safari or Foxfire the would both freeze and I get the maddening beach ball and have to force quit. Any ideas why this would suddenly start happening? I haven't done any thing special to the iMac as far as memory or anything. My laptop isn't doing it, just the iMac.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am using Entourage 2008 on Snow Leopard. I deleted folders in Entourage and when I tried to delete them from the "deleted items" folder, Entourage crashed. I force quit and then tried to rebuild the database, but that also froze. Restarted the computer and was able to open the "rebuild database" window but it keeps freezing at step 5 when I try to rebuild database.

Every time I would go to ESPN or gmail it would freeze up, the spinning rainbow would come up and I would have to force quite the app. I thought it may just be a problem with Safari so I downloaded the latest FireFox and Chrome and to my surprise they began freezing up too doing the same thing. I've got a 13" MBP w/ the 2.53 GHz Core 2 duo and 4GB RAM. I ran a software update yesterday afternoon/evening when prompted to, but didn't check to see what it was. I do know it was one that didn't force me to do a restart.

View 8 Replies View RelatedSo macrumors peeps, as the title reads, whenever i open a web browser and go to either espn or youtube or anything that flash associates itself with, the windows hangs or freezes and the beachball cursor comes up forcing me to force quit. I am currently using a Macbook 10.5.8 and Firefox 3.6.3 and Safari 4.0.5. Also i have restarted my macbook, updated it completely, tried reinstalling Adobe Flash Plug-in, done the disk utility repair disk (even though idk if i did it right) and i have been surfing the web for two days to find a solution.
