Applications :: Entourage Databases Keep Crashing - How To Prevent It
Feb 11, 2009
what causes them to crash? and how do i prevent it? i tried setting up a secondary identity that duplicates itself from the original. But when the Main one crashed it said the secondary one is corrupted too! and now its taking hours to rebuild...
Ever since I installed the latest Office 2008 update (moving Entourage up to v12.2.7), Entourage has crashed at least once a day when I open an unread e-mail. Seems like it happens more often when there are images embedded in the e-mail, like when someone has one in their signature, but I honestly can't tell what the rhyme or reason is for it.
I've been looking for a nice way to synchronize MySQL databases in a quick and easy way on the Mac, but so far I haven't found any good options.
Since I'm doing my development locally on both my iMac and my MacBook I'd like to be able to sync the site I'm working on with a click of a button. There are very nice file syncing tools available (I'm currently using Synk Standard), but as far as MySQL syncing (two-way) goes the only one I've found is Navicat.
While Navicat works great they have for some reason not made it possible to access from the command line in the mac version, which means that I can't run the db sync automatically when I run the file sync. I've tried UI scripting but it just won't work reliably (it clicks in the wrong places all of the time).
So do you know about any good MySQL syncing tools, that sync in both directions and are scriptable?
I just started using iTunes as my music database. For that reason I started to rip all my CDs. Much to my surprise iTunes doesn't find the metadata (for tagging) for a lot of my CDs. I know the data is on discogs and sometimes even on amazon. Is there a way to automatically retrieve the data from those alternative sources. Just like media monkey does? It is really annoying to manually tag all those CDs.
I currently have a 2013 MacBook pro which is running on Maverick 10.9.3 and through out the last few months it kept freezing and crashing and making these weird screen during the freeze, like a bunch of parallel lines. Per day when ever I turn on my MacBook to do my homework or anything else, the Mac kept craning at least 7 times a day. I looked at every possible thing that could cause it and all the results were disappointing. I check if my storage space was almost full or I'm using too much ram at one and my Mac kept getting worse and worse. Is there any tips on what I should do to prevent my Mac from Crashing ?
My MacBook specs:
-2.9 Ghz Intel core i7 -8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3 -749.3 GB of storage (638.19 GB is free )
When I open some specific mails and then I try to click on another Entourage just crashes and appears this. [URL]
Its really weird. I was thinking to reinstall it, but I'm just afraid of loosing any email or configuration. Is there any way to backup EVERYTHING (Email configuration, emails, adresses etc)
I've seen lots of threads go by about importing e-mail from one program to another, and my case is seemingly simpler, but I have had no luck so far.
I want to import into Entourage the e-mail from a backup of the disk. I know how to import mail into Entourage from other e-mail programs and I know how to import mail into Entourage from an archive created by exporting from Entourage, but I cannot figure out how to import from a backup of the folders under the "/Users/(username)/Documents/Microsoft User Data" folder, under which is where Entourage stores mail.
Recently, in the middle of working with applications in iPhoto09 they simply crash. I get a message stating no harm was done but it's getting annoying as it's happening more often than not. I am new to mac, have had it now for maybe two weeks, but wouldnt expect apps to crash this often. Any thoughts?
Is there any way to bring up multiple instances of Safari, each one with a completely independent cookie database? I have several Gmail accounts, and I want to simultaneously log in to all of them in different browser windows. However, since Safari manages a central cookie database, I can't log into one of these Gmail accounts without signing out from another. With separate Safari instances that maintain separate cookie databases, I could simultaneously keep multiple Gmail windows open.
I have saved the document as a Word doc, and a PDF. I was just going to copy and paste the entire document into a big text box but I want to prevent other people copying and pasting bits from it - is this possible?
By default aperture wants to import all my photos and MOV files into aperture. By default imovie wants to import all AVCDH lite files from my panasonic LX5 into imovie. I want to import my photos into Aperture and my videos into imovie. Currently I am doing the following:
1. import photos only into aperture by deselecting all MOV files and hitting apply. 2. import MOV files into aperture by deselecting JPGs, selecting a different directory for my movies and hitting apply. 3. in imovie import MOV files directly from hard drive
I wish there was a way to force aperture to only touch raw/jpg and imovie to handle MOV/AVCHD lite.
When opening a PowerPoint file, Keynote often gives you warnings about changes that happened when the file was converted from ppt to keynote. Can someone please let me know how to prevent these warnings?
I'd like to stop certain folders being downloaded via IMAP from Gmail. The most important is the Spam folder, as this clogs up my dock with unnecessary email counts. Anyone know how to do this?
I have a G4 and recently gone over to OSX and upgraded all my software. When I send an email using entourage everytime I attach a file and send it the recipient does not receieve the file whether its a pdf, jpg, eps or stuffed files. All they get is a load of coding.
Just purchased new 17" MBP and am wondering what e-mail program you all prefer??? We are coming off many years with Outlook.
I set up Mail and it seems "OK" but I then discovered that Office 2008 has Entourage (I thought it was only in the Business version) and I am contemplating moving to Entourage before I invesnt more time in Mail.
We have two e-mail addresses and two different homes that we use our laptop at...with different ISPs...thus need a couple of different configurations.
From past reading I have heard not too positive comments on both Mail and Entourage...what are the issues with each
I have the Student ed of Mac Office 2008. The only thing I can't do with Entourage is Exchange right? Every time I try to send an attachments. It lets me pick the file(s), no problem here. Then I tell it to send it. Once the mail has been sent, the attachments don't open on the original or the sent copy. If I try to open it though Entourage I get "Entourage Error Unknown". If I save the file and try to open it that way. It will launch the right app to open the file correctly. But the App will tell me this file is corrupted or incomplete. Now it's not allowing my to save the attachments. I get some "Entourage Error Unknown". I get this on both sides with the original post and with the sent file.
On my powermac G4 I have my contacts in Entourage. There are like a total of 1200 and I really don't need all of them on my new iBook so I've limited it to 200 of close contacts and saved them as vcf. Then I emailed myself the vcf file and try opening it on my new iBook which happily imports them into Address Book instead of Entourage (it also seemed to lose alot of the details, like categories).
I look for option in Entourage to import a VCF and it doesn't seem to have it. How do I import a VCF into Entourage? Or how can I these select contacts onto my laptop installation of Entourage?
I'm a switcher so sorry if this is a dumb Q (and yes I searched first) but Entourage keeps getting the same emails from my POP account. I have it set to leave messages on the server for a few days (3 I think) before deleting b/c my Blackberry pings the account for emails and if I leave for a weekend I want the BB to find the emails.
But whether I sort the emails into folders, delete them from Entourage, or leave them in the inbox, Entourage retrieves them - again. And I then have to delete them all.
ALso somewhat strangely, it doesn't retrieve them every time it checks the POP account (which it does every minute), only every once in a while.
I'm running Entourage 2004 on OS X 10.3.9 (iMac G3, for at least a few more weeks). I've never had problems with Entourage until we had a brief power-out the other day. Since I restarted, Entourage won't open. It says the database is corrupted, and I need to rebuild it. But I can't rebuild it -- the Entourage Database runs into an error almost as soon as it starts, and says it has an I/O error with a bad block. However, Apple's Disk Utility and Hardware Test both say everything's fine.
Anyone have any clues what to do next? Is it believable that Microsoft would find a bad block that Apple can't?
I've been trying to figure out how to set up the Entourage Mail app to auto-reply emails sent to my account. I'm going on vacation in like, a day, and want the app to automatically send a "out-of-office" reply. Anyone know how to do this?
I am having trouble converting my Mac (not PC) Outlook Express messages to Entourage (eventually I would like to move them to Mac Mail as well). On my old iMac I ran System 8.6 and Outlook Express. The messages on my old iMac were mostly saved as a single file named "Messages" in my "Main Identity" folder - this is how Outlook Express seemed to save the messages. I now have a PowerMac G5 running 10.5.6 and running Mac Mail as well as Entourage. I need to have a look at my old backed-up messages for business purposes, but I am unable to do so. I have given away my old iMac and so now I am stuck with System X and Entourage/Mac Mail.
I have downloaded the PST Import Tool but it does not seem to recognise my Mac Outlook Express files. I tried to open the files with Entourage; my old Outlook Express "Messages file" is recognised (or labelled) as an "Entourage database" but it does not open. I did have some individual messages saved that I was able to simply copy and paste as messages on to Entourage. But 99% of the old messages are stored in this single, large "Messages" file. And it is this file which I need to convert/import and am unable to do so. How do I convert this mac file into something that Entourage or MS Mail is able to understands seems to be the key question. All of this is very disconcerting to me - I have been a Mac person all my life and given that I am not changing computer platforms, I did not expect to encounter such problems. And there are some important e-mails I really do need to retrieve.
At work we use Entourage with exchange access to our work email. My coworker would like to be able to back up all his emails in entourage, and transplant them to his home PC which is using Outlook, and have them be all in his inbox and whatnot...what do I have to do?
I just wanted to know if it is possible to ad inboxes in MS Entourage? At the moment I have 2 accounts in 1 inbox, and I don't like the mess. I would like 1 inbox pro account. Possible? or not? If not, which emailprogram can do this? Can Macmail? or Mozilla Thunderbird?
well I'm about to start using either Mail or Entourage for my yahoo and Gmail accounts. I know that for Yahoo you need to pay $19.99/year or so to get it work on Mail/Entourage so I guess I got no choice but to do so. This will be my first time ever using a mail app because for years I've used the website-based e-mail only, so I'm still not so familiar with these apps. I've tried both Mail and Entourage and so far I like Entourage better. It just looks neater and seems to have more options than Mail (I might be wrong). Are there any downsides of Entourage I should be aware of? Is it possible to import all the birthday etc. alerts that I have on Yahoo mail calendar to Entourage calendar? Also, is it possible for Entourage to notify you when you receive an e-mail the way Mail does? Another thing: I heard that next year Outlook for Mac will be available with the release of Office 2010. Anybody know when MS plans to release it? Should I wait till then and just get Outlook instead or is the release date still quite remote?
