My track pad doesn't work right, it is very jumpy moves even with out me using it.acts like there is two fingers on it.But if i hook up a cheap mouse and turn the tracpad off it works fine.Sometime the cruser won't even move, or right click and bring up the little short cut window.

I observed it works in other apps including Safari. Thought of taking it to the Genius Bar then gave up because of the hassle of going through the replacement as I already put in full body zagg on my MBA.

When I move my finger across the pad the pointer is not moving and when it does move there seems to be a lag. The gestures are not working properly etc and the pointer would move on its own not by much but a little bit. I have tried SMC and PRAM and that has not helped. I attached an external mouse and was having problems with moving the pointer, however when I selected disable trackpad when external mouse is attached the external mouse worked just fine. All of my software is up todate I am running OSX 10.6.8. I hope I do not have to get another track pad the laptop is about 7 months old and I have an apple care plan but I am out of the US for the next couple of months so I am looking for fix I can do myself.

i just ordered the macbook air 11 inch. but i was just looking around and seen that sony also has a great 11 inch laptop. the vaio x. it has 10 HOUR BATTERY for an 11 inch laptop and weighs in at 1.6 pounds. Now dont get me wrong i would not get it because i dont like windows, but it seems like this laptop doesn't get the recognition it deserves.
View 24 Replies View RelatedI have an inch wide white stripe that runs from the top to the bottom of my screen. This is on an Imac. The cursor disappears when going through it but pops out on the other side. It doesn't move but I can drag my window back and forth to view the part the stripe covers.

I've had my 13inch MBP back in August and for the past few weeks have noticed a change in the behavior of my trackpad. I took my MBP to the Apple store 2 weeks ago simply for them to check if there was any liquid damage on the laptop because I was considering purchasing AppleCare before the 1 year deadline is up this coming August.....At the Apple Store the employee took it to the back, came back 10 minutes later and said everything was fine, no problems at all.
However since about 2 weeks ago i've noticed my tackpad isn't as responsive when i'm browsing the web, or anything for that matter. Whether i'm actually pressing on the trackpad as a button or am just tapping the trackpad to open a new tab or w/e, it's either not as responsive as it once was or not at all anymore.
Should I call AppleCare and deal with this? What would they do? I'm wondering if its worth it or not...especially considering that the trackpad still works fully/completely, just not as great as it once was and/or not good at all. I guess my case may be considered a subjective so am wondering if they would even do anything about it......of course I doubt this would call for a macbook replacement and since its a unibody my thinking is that they can't just replace the keyboard/trackpad like they did with the old white macbooks...
hey my friend is having a problem with his imac when he turns it on he gets a grey screen and stops there. there is also a grinding noise near the back maybe the hd or disc drive? it grinds 10 times then stops then continues for a couple minutes and then he gets a question mark on the screen.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI've heard that Macbook Pro's have this issue, but it seems like my white Macbook is exhibiting this sometimes. It's not a lot but I've encountered it about 3-5 times now. When I just close the lid, the little white light at the front should glow and unglow. It seems like the light stayed lit so when I open the lid the screen wouldn't turn on and there is no response and I would be forced to cold boot. My Macbook is up to date, with no problem in diagnostic.

I checked the battery, it was at full. The power cable was also green when i plugged it into the Macbook. However, it still wouldn't turn on.
Just a general comment, I use the Macbook as a printer server and to browse the internet, so nothing intensive is forced onto the Macbook.So then I tried resetting the SMU, didn't work. I tried turning it on with only battery , and then with only power source, both didn't work either.I have never spilled anything on this macbook, never dropped it, smashed it, or abused it in any way. However, it is 2 years old and I never bought Applecare (Usually, if something is defective, it will show within the first 30 days). I assume it's a logic board failure, and it's going to cost around 700 to fix (which i'd rather just get a new macbook).
I was wondering if anybody know of a reason why the logic board broke, or if there is any remedies that i haven't tried yet?Also, I'm thinking of pawning it off on ebay and then save up and wait for the Macbook Pro refresh. My university has a Wifi all other the grounds but i can only use it occasionally with my macbook for some reason. It sometimes loads things like google reader or google searches but i cant look at google images or anything. Everyone else just loads safari or the equivalent and enters an email address and they can browse. Mine does that but then stops and starts working every so often.
View 15 Replies View RelatedI told myself not to do it. Don't update the Safari software to 4.0, you know how they always mess up these things. And yet, per accident I did. Of course Safari 4.0 doesn't work. Every time I open it, it shuts down. iChat also doesn't work anymore, and even the Dashboard shuts down every now and then. In addition, the computer feels incredibly slow. I can't download rapidshare links on iGetter anymore and everything just feels wrong. Countless threads have been opened on this matter with a variety of different problems for different people. Yet I have not read a proper solution. I have seen all kinds of technical solutions being offered but I'm not a computer wiz and I do not know the terms they use. I just want to go back to Safari 3.2 or at least the one before the 4.0 But I read that deleting Safari 4 and reinstalling 3.2 won't work because of a certain webkit that got installed with it, making it impossible to go back.

When I start up my 2010 Macbook Pro now, the fan starts running as soon as the spinning gear appears below the apple logo, the boot up is insanely slow, the mouse doesn't track well with my trackpad movements, and trying to open programs often leads to a non-responsive program with the pinwheel of death spinning for minutes at a time. I try to shut it down (takes approx. 20 min. now) and when the screen goes black, the fan continues full blast. After that I can boot up the computer and it runs normally, but the whole process takes about 50 minutes longer than it should, especially with a relatively new SSD (~ 8 months old).
It loads well enough in safe boot, and I've tried cutting out most of the apps that launch at startup with poor results. I've also tried resetting the SMC with equally poor results.

I experience this problem for 2 days now. The wi fi says it is connected and all the bars are full but id doesn't load a single page!
The internet i've got is vergin so normally is very fast.Downstairs where we have a desktop computer connected to the D-link is working as normal.
When I open the network diagnostics in mac it shows : wi fi is green , wi-fi settings is green, network settings is failed(red), ISP failed(red), Internet failed (red), server failed red.
