A few of the thousands of songs I have loaded into iTunes don't have track numbers embedded in their tags.Â
I've just migrated from PC to Mac and have a nice new MBP and am discovering a few differences between the two platforms. grrrÂ
I want control of tags - is this possible. When I get "info" for a particular song their is no reference to track numbering available?Â
There are other things I'd like to be able to tweak as well. Like just pulling up a particular genre - I used Media Centre on my PCs and had amazing control of everything. It behaved like a well constructed database.Â

I was trying to change the info on all the songs in my iTunes library yesturday to try and get all the songs from some albums to be together rather than seperated when different artists were performing by changing them all to 'Various'. Unfortunatly I typed 'Various' into the Album box by mistake and now all my songs have the same album name. Is there any way of undoing my mistake or am I going to have to go through all 17 days worth of somgs and change them individually? I haven't got a recent back up off my computer, but I do have quite alot of the music stored on either my iPad or my iPhone
Just recently out of the blue I noticed that some of the songs in my library were not in the correct order as they appear on the album. I went under "Get Info" to make sure that the track listing was correct (i.e. Track 2 of 10) and everything was correct, yet it still showed up in the wrong order. I even re-typed everything hoping it would reset but it did not. It appears to be only on albums that I purchased through iTunes (and yes, each song was purchased at the same time).
I have 2500 songs I have accumulated over years. Many have improper names, some are not capitalized and some have no Genre or the wrong Genre. My question is, can I select all songs and have itunes somehow retrieve the proper info from the web? Or do I have to manually edit each song myself. Would the CDDB database come in here somehow?

I just bought a new mac book air and i have a lot of music that Itunes cannot find the album art for. On my windows PC i was able to just copy and paste the art into the "get info" tab and the art will show in itunes when the song plays. When i find the art on my Mac i can copy and paste, however the art does not save to itunes. Â
Also, whenever i changed the artist or album artist information, the change does not save either.
iTunes is showing me bizarre dates in the "Date Added" column. Examples are "6/29/14180", "1/5/145", and "12/29/12364". I should note that I'm running the latest version of iTunes and the latest version of Mavericks, but the iTunes library that I'm using is the library on my Snow Leopard drive (because I don't know a simple way of importing all of that music--25,000+ songs--into the Maverick side).Â
I just moved back from USA to Norway and I need to change my country and billing information. iTunes is denying me this because I still have store credit on my american account. It's just $0.28 left and there is really nothing I can buy. My american visa is terminated so I can't buy anything with greater value that the credit I have left.
The Get Info functionality is completely gone from the command-click menu! Now I can't manually change my song info? Did they change it or completely remove it?
I recently purchased a macbook air. All my music files and mp3s are stored on my partners cloud drive (WD Mycloud) I have tried changing my permissions, but they are all read/write. my little padlocks are all unlocked and as far as I can tell none of my music files are protected. Â
So WHY can I not change any of my track infos that state the whole album/artist/track as the track name and everything else as unknown and i cannot change this!Â

I know *how* to do this, by going to "get info", and I have done it before. But, for some reason I *can't* actually do it anymore. When I select a group of songs to change info on, it acts like its going to work but then does nothing. When I select a single item, the get info tab is completely grayed out, nothing can be clicked on or changed. I have tried checking the song outside of iTunes to make sure it isn't read only or anything and I haven't found any issues with that. None of these should have any copy protection, they've all been ripped from cd or downloaded.
The only way I have been able to change anything so far is to convert the mp3 to AAC. I really don't want to have to convert the whole library. What is wrong with this?? How do I fix it?
I have my media on a NAS (Qnap 451) and have added my existing videos to my library (without copying them locally to my library), and of course they show up as home videos. I know how you are supposed to change theinfo for multiple files, I select them all and choose get info and change the options tab to Movie. When I do that nothing happens at all, I can do the files one at a time and they change fine, but if I even select just two files it doesn't work.

I have an uncompressed FLAC audio file that I want to add album art and lyrics to in iTunes. But when I go to get info, the album art and lyrics tab is gray and it won't let me click on it. I then tried to change the genre of the audio file. When I change it and then replay the song, the genre changes to it's original setting? How do I change this? I'm using a mac.
All of my movies on my hard drive have crazy file names. I just rename the info from within itunes. I am wondering if there is a way to apply the info in itunes to change the original file names. So that I don't have to change them all manually on my hard drive if I want them in some sort of order. Something like 'apply itunes info to original filename'. I am pretty sure it isn't possible but thought it might be worth a try.
I had an external hard drive that started to act wonky and wouldn't mount. I was able to get to mount one last time and transfer the contents over to a new hard drive. Now every time I start iTunes there is a message about checking for gapless playback. I believe there are 82 tracks. It goes by rather fast so it is hard to read each and every title. The ones I have read upon checking I find that the songs have no content. They just don't exist. When you go to control I instead of the track showing the length it shows Not Available.
I know that I used to be able to drag songs to a different order in my iTunes playlists, but tonight, no matter the order that I add the songs to the playlist, or Smart Playlist, the order of the songs is alphabetically arranged, and the only other option is to click on "name" but then it just does reverse alphabetical order. Is something different, in a recent iTunes upgrade? I'm a music teacher and I am trying to put the songs in the order that my students will be performing them next week?
Info: iTunes, Mac OS X (10.6.8), using Time Machine external hard dr
I am trying to copy some songs from my playlist to a CD but it changes the order of the songs during the conversion. I want the songs in alphabetical by name but iTunes arranges them alphabetically by artist.
I am unable to get into my account info on the iTunes store to check my account info. I keep getting a message that it is unavailable and try later, but this has been going on for weeks.
just ordered my iMac 27" yesterday with the education discount. however, I got the name wrong and I am afraid that I can't get the iPod touch rebate. The status is put to "prepared for shipment" and i cannot edit the billing info.Do u guys think that the Apple call center can help me change the billing info??i am in Singapore now so the service line will not open until 5hrs later.
So over the past few months I have noticed this small bug/glitch in iTunes... and it is very annoying.
I cannot drag songs from playlists into different order. iTunes just doesn't let me drag at all.
I have to quit iTunes, then restart it. It will work for one time, but as soon as I got back to "Library" and then try to go back and edit a playlist, I have to exit iTunes.
I have a lot of CD's that are compilations made in my friend's iTunes, but for some reason my ITunes is not reading any of the track info. My buddy says this is a very rare event for him and no suggestions as why I am not getting the track info. I've already tried unchecking the "search the internet for info" option.
I transferred all my itunes library to an external hard drive.I had all my songs in itunes and then went to "preferences" and set itunes to look on my external hard drive for my itunes. Then I went to "library" and then "consolidate", and it moved all my library over to my external. I can verify that my songs are all there on my externalHowever, now, itunes won't play any songs of mine. I double click on the song in itunes and it just wont play. There's no error message, there's no exclamation point, it just won't play. Any idea what is goign on? Preferences still shows that my library is directing to the external
I have a Macbook with about 5,000 songs on it, all of which are burned from actual hard copies of CDs that I own. Rather than re-burning each CD to my new Windows computer, I would like to see if there's a way to transfer all these songs from Mac to PC using an external hard drive.Â
The real question is how can I format my external hard drive to be recognized on both a Macbook running Snow Leopard and a PC running Windows 7?
OS 10.6.8 with iTunes 10 I have been importing my CD collection into iTunes for about the past month. i have already imported over 500 CD's with no problems. This morning I have a new problem, I insert the CD, iTunes accesses Gracenotes to get the CD info. If there's only one choice of CD info the CD immediately disappears from iTunes and the desktop. If there is more than one choice of CD info as soon as I pick one the CD disappears from iTunes and the desktop.
In either case I can eject the CD with the eject button on my keyboard and when I reinsert it it comes up in iTunes with all the CD and track info I previously selected and then I can import. Why does the CD disappear the first time? I have unchecked and checked preferences in iTunes to "show CD when inserted" as it has always been. One thing I should mention is that right before this behavior started happening I checked and repaired disc permissions for my HD, could this have anything to do with it?
