View 1 RepliesI am on a 2008 Mac Pro. My computer was on and after being in another room for about 5 minutes, I start hearing my music playing on the Mac. My iTunes wasn't even on, how is this possible??? No one here but me, so it's not like the keyboard was pressed or anything the music just started playing. It was a random song too, in the middle of one of my albums. First: has anyone ever heard of such a weird thing? Second: is this of concern security wise? Is someone hacked into my machine?

View 3 Replies View RelatedFor the past few days, my i-mac (10.4.11) has been playing music randomly. I'm not sure what the cause is, but I assumed it could be limewire, so I deleted it. I'm currently using Macscan to look for spyware, but no spyware files have been detected. I know what program it plays through-- Safari. and as far as I can tell it always plays my ITunes songs.

I purchased a 24" iMac in fall of '07 and up until have had no problems at all. Let me describe the problems I'm having now and maybe someone can tell me what to do to remedy them.
A couple weeks ago it started freezing randomly. The mouse will switch to the beach ball and just spins endlessly. I can move it around but can't really do anything other than that. I have to do a hard reset to get it back to normal. Sometimes a couple programs are open, and sometimes none. It seems like it happens often when I quick switch from one user to another. It will switch, work for awhile, then freeze.
Now, no big deal, annoying, but whatever. But, the other day after doing a hard reset it revolted into a white screen with a flashing folder with a question mark. I did some research and found that I needed to repair the startup disc using the snow leopard disc. I did that and it allowed me to boot it back up normaly but didn't really solve the freeze up issue.
So, that just happened again, so I'll have to boot it up with the disc again and repair the startup disc when I get a chance. It's really beyond frustrating now.
I have repaired all permissions, updated all firmware, made sure the drive isn't full, pretty much everything short of backing up and wiping the drive and reinstalling the OS. Is that what I need ro do now? I mean, I know I need to, but is there something I can do to remedy until I can get around to doing that?
I looked into my issue a little but recently my IMac G5 started randomly shutting down when left unused for a bit but that seems to have stopped as far as I have noted. Now occasionally when it goes into sleep mode it will freeze on the black screen and the fan will go crazy. I plan on buying a MBP, if the update ever comes out, and then ill just completely wipe the IMac and give it to my parents, who still use the original I mac, G3 or something. I read a certain series of I Macs were having motherboard problems, W950 or something, but mine wasn't that serial code.
View 2 Replies View RelatedMy mac is 6 months old has the latest OS. When I leave it playing music either in Itunes or on u tube. It shuts down to login after 15 minutes. If I am using it it does not. I have disabled all energy saving options and all "never shut down" options selected. But everytime I leave it religiously shuts down after 15 minutes.

I've got a late 2009 Core i5 iMac that I got on release. I'm not sure if somethings up with the HDD, but for the past couple of months iTunes has to pause music to rebuffer it so to say when playing it from the local disc.

Also for no apparent reason it started saying "you have logged in" every time I wake it up. Any clue how to make these annoying sounds go away and or what may have started them?

It started slowing down, and so I put more ram into it... a few years later, Applecare told me my hard drive was failing because it took so long to boot up. I wiped the computer, which got rid of many of the start up items, and sped it up... I upgraded the OS to Snow Leopard (which I immediately downgraded). Then I got the mouse fixed.
By this time, the computer was slow, hot, the mouse was erratic, and programs took a long time to upgrade. My Windows 7 netbook would run better.
When I connected my sony mp3 player to mac for first time, all music deleted. Why? and where did it go?

I have transferred my itunes music on to my external HD. The music is there and that is fine. I then deleted the old itunes folder from my actual HD. I have now wanted to access the music on the external HD, and have attempted to select the new music file location on the external HD via the itunes/preferences/advanced window,selected the new file path and it will just not show in itunes!

I unpaused it and went on my way, but a few seconds later it paused again, then unpaused. I dealt with it for a little while, then I decided to close iTunes and listen to Pandora. Now iTunes is opening and playing music by itself, no matter how many times I quit it.

View 24 Replies View RelatedMy iMac sometimes will just randomly start playing music. This just recently started and I haven't made any hardware/software changes at all, last thing I did was update it for printer drivers and that was it. It usually plays at night when I'm sleeping and it starts with the song that's on the top of the list. I've restarted it and everything and can't figure it out. I always leave iTunes running because I have my iPad and iPhones set up for wireless syncing. So I usually just keep the sound off to prevent any random music playing. Oh and there is no remotes connected to it either....

View 1 Replies View RelatedSometimes one song in the middle of a cd is missing, and sometimes a single just disappears. The weird thing is that the name and albumcover is still there, but the music file is not. The original file in the music library is gone, and a lot of it is music i bought in itunes.
Also, i keep getting less and less space on my harddrive. It's like it's automatically filling up, allthough I'm not filling it with anything.
Could it be the solid state drive that's dying?

I have noticed that iTunes has deleted a random selection of music from my library. There is a useful little exclamation mark next to the track it has removed the data of. I have used spotlight to search to try to find the missing file, but without fail it opens my college notes from ten years ago. That's interesting. I suppose it is gone for good and I have to buy it again, preferably from the i-apple-store??

I have noticed a slight slowing down in the responsive of my imac (surfing net / carrying out tasks). I have plenty of storage space and the only changes made recently are installing Citrix and MS office.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI don't know why, but iTunes entirely too often on my computer. I use a 15" MBP running 10.6.4 (The latest version of SL). I'm using iTunes 10, but I was having this issue prior to the update. It crashes seemingly randomly sometimes when I finish an album, sometimes between songs, and sometimes just mid-song. Restarting seemed to help once, but it eventually started crashing again, and all subsequent reboots have had no effect. I have about 21 GB of music, mostly pirated (though let's not get into that debate); I listen to music by the album. My library is completely music (no TV shows, podcasts, etc.). Am I the only one sending them 20 enraged error messages a day?

iTunes 10 is playing my .mp4 music, of whcih I rip from FLAC to .mp4 using Media Monkey, and now play in a window, blacking out my screen as if it were a movie. This didn't occur in any iTunes version before this (the songs played fine in iTunes as if it were an mp3 or aac files) and has been my setup for YEARS.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI imported several cd's and tracks into iTunes last night and there were no problems while importing. I was able to listen to my music in the iTunes library up until this evening. When I click on a song, a box pops up saying "Connection Failed: The server may not exist or it is not operational at this time. Check the server name of IP addres and your network connections and try again." So I press "OK" and another box pops up saying "The song "(name)-(artist)" could not be used because the original file could not be found.
Would you like to locate it?" I click on "Yes" and see all my songs listed under iTunes/music but all of the songs I have listed in the library are gray and I cannot click on them. I have checked that I am connected to my home network/internet because I am able to share/listen to my iTunes library located on my Windows desktop as well as browse the internet. The only other thing I could think of doing was downloading the new iTunes 8 which I did, and nothing has changed.
It doesn't matter what I do- It's not the iTunes dashboard widget because I removed it, I turned off the iTunes helper app so it doesn't start up with the computer, and it keeps opening up and playing music for no reason.

Some problems with iTunes, that appeared currently. When playing music suddenly the rendering stops for several seconds and then it continues without any action from my side. Maybe the problem only shows up when my MacBook comes to the standby mode, but nevertheless, I never had this problem before and it really restricts the possibilities of enjoying music played by iTunes.

I don't get any spinning wheel of death or anything it just freezes & won't do a thing but the mouse still moves?! I'm having to turn it off at the wall 3 or 4 times a day which I'm sure can't be good for it but I don't understand what's caused it to start, the only thing iv installed lately was adobe reader but it does seem to occur more when I'm using an Internet application (either safari or connecting for software updates). Iv just sat for over an hour on logic with all manner of plugins going off without any issue
