I have noticed recently that when reviewing my emails, I seem to be getting more advertisements etc, that do not load images etc. There is just an empty box with a small blue question mark within a cube where the picture is supposed to be....even when I hit load images....they don't.
View 7 Replies View RelatedLately I'm having trouble downloading pdf files that are open in the Safari window. I'm using the latest versions of Safari Adobe Reader on an IMac OSX 10.6.8. I used to download them simply with "command s", now it says "the document ... cannot be exported".

In Leopard, I could download any quicktime video with quicktime pro in safari, (looked like the first pic) Now, in Snow Leopard, I get this: (Second pic)
How do I download in Snow Leopard?
This is a major issue for me, as I feel like I'm going to end up damaging my hard drive.
I am downloading a legal torrent to my external hard drive, however when I quit Transmission and try to eject my external drive, nothing happens. Snow Leopard doesn't even say it is in use like it is meant to. It just does nothing to eject the drive.
So I end up having to yank the USB plug out.
What gives? It ejects normally as long as I don't download to it.
Once my computer restarts, I click Software Update to find that nothing actually was installed. If I try again, the same problem persists.
View 1 Replies View RelatedLast night, I downloaded Parallels onto my computer and everything was fine. I then downloaded the Windows 7 files from the Microsoft Store and the download speed was excellent -- took about 30 minutes to download ~300 GB of files. After attempting to click on these files to open them, they wouldn't open, and I realized that I should have purchased through the Parallels online store. Â
Shortly after this, I realized that my Internet speed was very slow, maybe 2-3 KB/sec. I uninstalled Parallels and cleared the Windows files from the Downloads screen, but Internet was still slow. Installing Windows can wait for another time (and maybe I'll just use Boot Camp instead). For now, all I want is to get my fast Internet speed back.Â

I recently did the mobileme to icloud swtich to keep my me.com email.Since Snow Leopard doesn't have an iCloud option and the MobileMe account option no longer works, I had to switch to create a new IMAP account with all of iCloud's server info.Ever since, the mac mail.app has been downloading messages practically non-stop.Every few minutes it will download 5000+ messages and growl notifications will fill up my screen. My mail folder is currently at 20gb and growing. I know there isn't that much mail data on the server as I originally had my mobileme limit set much lower. I tried deleting the account and creating a new one again, however it still happens.Â

I have a Snow Leopard Install Disk for the 13-inch Macbook Pro model.I also have a 21-inch iMac. I have OS X Lion installed on both. I have Snow Leopard installed as a partition on my Macbook Pro, which I installed via the install disk. I want to do the same thing for my iMac but I am unable due to (seemingly) my install disk is for a Macbook Pro and not for an iMac.

I'm running a 2.0 GHz Core Duo MacBook Pro with 1GB of RAM running Mac OS X 10.6.4.
Whenever I try to open the Help window my computer locks up, occasionally requiring a hard restart. It doesn't just lock up the help app, the entire system locks up and I can't do anything, if I'm listening to iTunes even the music stops playing.
I've tried repairing permissions, checking the drive (which came out as ok), and reinstalling the OS.
I just got this game the other day via steam and I've finally found an internet connection good enough to download it on. So it finished downloading today so i decided to play it. Im running windows vista via boot camp on a 17 inch macbook pro with 4gb of ram intel 2 duo core 3.06ghz processor and a 96000m nvidia geforce graphics card. Everything was running fine from when i was born to my birthday to the goat test and then all of a sudden, when it was time for me to leave the vault, it would lock up on me. It locked up on me once and i thought that was just a random occurence and that it wouldn't happen again. It didn't for a while but once I came to the part where the overseer was interrogating his daughter it was guarateed to lock up at any time during that period. When i mean lock up i mean the game would behave as if there is no keyboard or mouse. I can't move the mouse, I can't type anything. What I am able to do is alt tab out of the game. When i try to restore the window of the game after i alt tab it, the bar (I forget what its called) that is on the top of every window with the close restore maximize buttons, would come up but that would be it. The task manager says that the program is responding, but I would have the end the task because I can't get any further. I don't have any other problems with games that i have downloaded on steam such as left 4 dead and I don't have any problems with games that I've installed through a cd like republic commando. This is the first and only game that does this. I know there are alot of people with freezing problems but none of them seem to fit my case especially since im running windows on a macbook.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a 1yr old Macbook Pro running OSX Leopard 10.5.7 and it locks up on me 2-3 times a day. This happens when I am navagating through Entourage, browsing the web or really any program - it just does not matter. It seems that I will type a sentence, type in the search bar ect... then hit "go" and the pinwheel shows up and never goes away Hence lockup - the only way to move along is a hard reset - it wont even let force quit. I have noticed this problem getting progressively worse as the months go by.
I use this for work daily but not doing anything extrodinary - mainly spreadsheets, word, and powerpoint, entourge thats it!.
I have had to hard power down my New Macbook Pro quite a bit. Is this common or is there a simple fix

So I have been having an issue with my MBP 13" since I bought it, about a month now. At first the guy at Bes@ Bu@ attributed it to the fact that I was pressing too hard on the trackpad and sent me on my way. Two weeks later and the same issue is still happening. So I return to the store and they take the drag lock off, which I have tried before and I tell them this is not the problem-I am not an idiot-I actually know a little about computers. Oh well so here it is another two weeks and the same issue is still going. What do I do? A little background-I need a computer to be able to work on-this is not an option.
Best Buy said that if there is something truly wrong with the trackpad then they will have to send it off to "somewhere" and it could be gone for 10-14 days. That is just unacceptable. Is anybody familiar with their "Black Tie" protection plan? would it be easier/better just to run the thing over with my truck? instead of dealing with the headaches of shipping it somewhere? Basically it seems like the mouse is dragging and locking on everything it can. I have to hold and move, or double hold and move, its hard to explain, but there is definitely an issue. But since I mainly work nights, its hard to bring it up to BB when there is an issue.
Since I installed Lion my macbook pro keeps locking up.

Within a short space of time of booting up my main software that I am using (e.g. Mail, iTunes) hangs with the spinning beachball. If I reboot into Safe Mode then all works OK, if slowly. I have reparied disk permissions but the problem recurrs once I reboot. What else can I try to do?Â

After the screen saver starts (set to go on after 1 hour), my MacBook locks up 90% of the time when I attempt to wake it up. I sometimes hit the trackpad and sometimes I hit command. It is hit or miss on which one will work.
I have to hold the power button to restart it.
I have it plugged in all the time when it's at home. Under energy saver I have both settings set to go asleep after 2.5 hours.
I have no issues when I close the lid to put it to sleep.
My trackpad keeps freezing and keys keep locking up. I have a Mac Book Pro 2.5 Ghz intel core 2 duo.

I have an 11"air running 10.9.3. I want it to stay on all the time until I switch it off. BUT it keeps 'going to sleep' reverting to the password login screen after a few hours unused.
I have unchecked the 'password after x hours' box in 'Security'
I have set the power/battery sliders to 'Never go to sleep'
I have 'Zap Pramed'
I have 'repaired disk permissions'Â
....Nothing has worked.
HOW to I stop my air from 'switching off' like this?Â
The updates can't be installed after downloading

... long time reader, first time poster!! So I'm doing it. I'm switching from PC to Mac. I've been waiting for a while now and the new MacBook Pro's have convinced me. I'm buying the 13 inch this week.
However I'm slightly worried about the upgrade to Snow Leopard in September.
My question is if I buy a new MacBook Pro this week and upgrade from the current version of Leopard to Snow Leopard will it be the EXACT same as the version of Snow Leopard that ships with new MacBooks after September?
Is the upgrade just the same as the full software version available post September? Does the upgrade it just detect if you have the previous software and installs as if it were the full? Or does it just "patch" things depending on what's different from previous versions?
I can wait till after Snow Leopard is released in September 09 if it is different to Leopard upgraded to Snow Leopard.
In the dropdown, I have QLM WiFi (which I have no idea what that is), National Access - Broadband Access (which is my wireless card) and Automatic. Whenever I make a change and hit the "Apply" button, my MBP freezes.

View 2 Replies View Related"Photoshop CS" and "Acrobat 6.0 Standard" suddenly stopped working in my iMac, apparently after I upgraded it to MacOS 10.6.8 (the latest version of Snow Leopard). Both programs had worked normally until that OS upgrade. I deleted Photoshop CS and tried to re-install it from the original CD, but the installation never proceeds because I get an error message entitled: "Install Adobe Photoshop CS quit unexpectedly". This is the full error message:Â

Today I performed a clean install of Snow Leopard on my late 2009 Mac Mini. After completing the installation, I began running software update to bring everything up-to-date.While software update did find and install a number of updates (10.6.8v1.1 Combo update, Security Update 2012-002, Apple Software Installer Update, iLife Support 9.0.4, Remote Desktop Client Update 3.5.3, Airport Utility, Java, Safari) it did not find an update for iTunes (which starts at version 9.x, I believe, in a SL clean install).I assumed that this was some sort of random glitch and manually downloaded and installed iTunes 10.6.3.After that, I re-installed iLife '11 (from a retail DVD, not the App Store). When I ran Software Update again, it found updates for Garage Band, iDVD, and iWeb, but it did not show the updates for iPhoto and iMovie.I found this to be unnerving, as I performed a clean install when I first obtained this Mini a few months ago and didn't experience any of these problems - all of my Apple software updated automatically through Software Update without a hitch.
I began researching this problem online and found that other people have been experiencing this same problem (or some variation of it), and it seems like it began appearing around the time Apple updated some of its security certificates in March. In particular, I've found several references to the missing iPhoto update. This one is especially noticeable because an iPhoto library created in iPhoto 9.2.3 will not open in iPhoto 9.0, and this generates an error upon opening the program (i.e., a user backs up their iPhoto library created in 9.2.3, performs a SL clean install, reinstalls iLife, goes through the Software Update process until it shows that no more updates are available, and are shocked to find that they are unable to open their backed up iPhoto library because they have an out of date version of iPhoto). The most common (and admittedly logical) solution proposed in the threads I've read is to download any necessary updates directly from the Apple website. However, I am curious as to why this previously functional feature now appears to be broken.Has anyone else been struggling with this? Does it indeed have something to do with the new security certificates? Is Apple aware of the problem?

I'm currently using a MBP 13 inch and am running Leopard on it.
I just bought a copy of snow leopard today but i don't know if I should do a direct upgrade from leopard to snow leopard, or wipe my MBP and do a fresh install so i have snow leopard on a clean slate.
Have any of you tried the second option before? Or do any of you have advice on which path I should take?
I have my drive partitioned between Tiger and Snow Leopard. I am trying to move myself over to Snow Leopard so I don't have to keep switching. The problem is that my old apps that alledgedly will work in SL, give me an error box when I launch them. It happens with Appleworks 6 and Quicken 2007. I've installed Rosetta but don't know what else to do.When I launch either application, it says it unexpectedly quit and gives this info:Â Process: [code]
View 13 Replies View RelatedI have an imac with leopard OS and a macbook pro with snow leopard on it, and I can't seem to connect the two computers. Even when they are directly connected with ethernet cable, I can see the imac but not connect with it. I can connect to the macbook from the imac, but not vice-versa. My network is ethernet through linksys WRT610 router. Repeated attempts to connect from the macbook result in "connection failed" message and "imac may not exist or is not available."
