View 11 Replies View RelatedI want to reinstall OSX for the first time because I mainly want to have a clean system, to get rid of all the files that have not been deleted when I remove some applications. Basically I want all apps removed when reinstalled complete. I've read OSX reinstall its different then windows, but I want to make sure I can do this clean reinstall. I want to know if the other documents and files will remain on my hdd as I don't have an external disc to back up. Also the system/the internet does not run as fast as those in apple store, this may be because of little snitch, hard drive space, or others.

Whenever I lift up my Macbook Pro on a tilt angle the screen falls backwards. Does this happen to you? I hold it on an angle and the screen just falls back. Obviously this only happens if the screen is not completely back in the first place.

It could be done using either Vista 32bit or WinXP 64bit the conversion under XP Pro SP3 32bit was not possible maybe because diskpart was still an older version and not updated to a newer version. My work on the Mac is done now and I want to convert my drive back to MBR so I can use it with windows. I've erased and then deleted all the partitions I had created on the drive. Using WinXP 32bit and Disk Management I see only one big partition (465.76 GB Healthy (GPT Protective Partition)) Using WinXP 64bit and Disk Management I can see there is a 200Mb EFI Systems Partition followed by 464.44 Gb of Unallocated space. How do I get rid of this EFI Systems Partition that is stopping me when using diskpart to convert to MBR?
My sister bought a second hand Mac Book Pro. According to Mac Book Pro specs. this unit should have had a 250G - 320G Hard Drive but someone had replaced with a 120G before she got her hands on it. I have an Iomega UltraMax 750Gb External Hard Drive set up to back up my MacBook Pro. Time Machine uses this hard drive perfectly with no problems. However whenever I want to use the drive to move files around with XP the drive does not show up in my computer. XP recognizes the connection of the hard drive and shows the name of the hard drive connected to the computer when you look at the USB BUSes but still it is not in My Computer. I have everything up to date. I have even partitioned the External Hard Drive so part of it wasn't even touched by Time Machine. View 6 Replies View RelatedI leave my imac on at night, from screensaver it goes to a black screen but I have selected that the hard drive never goes to sleep. In the morning when I click the mouse or a button on the keyboard it shows me a frozen screensaver screen and the imac is totally unresponsive. Have run disk utility and everything seems totally fine there. It is impossible to use the force quit option so have to resort to switching the whole thing off from the power button.
The software is all up to date and since disk utility shows everything in perfect working order I am puzzled what this is. A corrupt file or app? I am not a heavy user so no games installed - only software installed is the caffeine app, microsoft office for mac which is compatible with my imac, skype and that's all. Lots of free space on the hard drive too. I am not an expert on macs so I don't know how to look in case something in specific causes this that I can uninstall.

I have just purchased a new MacBook Pro, however i was never issued with any recovery DVD's. In the event of a full re-instillation how would i be able to restore my system back to original state? When i spoke to the assistant in the apple shop, he told me that they were not required, is this correct? Can i purchase the recovery DVD's from Apple?

I use Time Machine for backing up my iMac hard drive I am into photography and have a large number of photo files that take up a lot of space. The originals I burn to a DVD but the pictures I put on an external hard drive 1 tb so they are readily accessible. Is there any way I can use Time Machine to automatically back up this hard drive onto another external along with my iMac hard drive, or do I need to store the files in duplicate manually on 2 different external hard drives?

However, that was when I was a Windows user. I have tried repairing permissions on my hard drive, repairing disk on the external disk. Still the same.
I have a 20" intel-based dual core Mac which i have had for about since early 2006, i haven't had any big issues with it until a few days ago when it suddenly shut itself down and refused to power back up. I ran through the checklist that Apple Support provides, including resetting the SMC by unplugging everything and waiting 15 seconds or so but none of it worked. Eventually I just left the power cord unplugged overnight and in the morning I plugged it back in.
After having the power cord plugged in for a few hours and the machine turned off, i tried pressing the power button again and to my amazement it powered back on! Immediately i ran the TechTool Deluxe software that came with my extended protection plan (now expired) and everything was fine. Later that night however, I had left my computer on for a few hours before returning to it and realizing it had shut itself off again. Now I am back to where I started, going through the checklist provided by Apple and am really starting to get concerned. Does anyone know of anything else I can do, short of taking it in to an Apple store? Or is something needed to be replaced?

Ok so i loaded on snow leopard and days later my hard drive crashed. so to be safe when i got a new hard drive i loaded my computer to normal leopard. i want to fully try snow leopard again to see if some of the up dates fixed some of my programs working but if not i want to be able to go back to leopard. and i know you cant down grade. but if i were to time machine right before i put on snow, if i wanted to go back would it work to wipe my hard drive and reload everything from that time machine back up that had leopard on it? or no? what is the easiest way for me to try snow and if i dont fully like it then go back?

Unfortunately the issue is still present and I am wondering what to do as I've already blown my budget to fix it. I'm hoping someone here can help.
I use the Vienna Symphonic Library through ESX24 in Logic 9, on a 2008 Mac Pro (2.8 Ghz octocore). When I attempt to play back some of my compositions, Logic hits a wall with certain sections, indicating "System Overload. The audio engine was not able to process all required data in time. (-10011)" I did check System Profiler, and all the RAM is being recognized.Is there any way to solve this without new hardware? As a side note, I was wondering how I can add more than 255 ESX24 tracks as Logic seems to cap out at that. Please let me know anything I can try.

Now it gives me a slide sorter and I have to click on each slide to move on in the presentation! The very first thing I noticed is that I can no longer active Spaces and then choose which Space I want with a number key. For example, in Leopard I had F19 mapped to display the Spaces view and then click '2' on the numberpad to display the second space. I used this A LOT and it was extremely fast and useful for me. But now with Snow Leopard, F19 will display the Spaces view, but clicking any numbers on the keypad doesn't do anything. I checked the preferences, but the only option is to select a key combination (ex: ^ Number Keys). I want to be able to hit *just* the number key.
