I went onto my mac and was going to look through my photos when I realized iphoto wasn't on my dock, so I went to my finder and checked the applications and it wasn't there either. I even checked on spotlight and I can't find it, it's not in my trash either. How do I find it again?

I know by the title you may be saying... here comes yet another post on iPhoto. But I have a suspicion it is much more than that. thus the post in the OSX category.Here is the short version...
I use to have a MacBook Pro (17" if that matters) with OSX 10.5 on it. Back in August '08 I bought a iMac (24") because I had to give the MacBook Back. When I set up the iMac I did the install that allows you to transfer your settings and files to your new computer before I erased everything on the MacBook.Some how I lost a bunch of Pictures I took and had on the MacBook. I just can't find them... i didn't have iPhoto on the MacBook but do on the iMac.
I thought I had lost the photos until one day I pointed the screen saver to my photo folder. Now I can see my photos in the screen saver slide show... but can not see them in iPhoto or in the Photo Folder.I have hope that they are somewhere on my computer but where and how can I get them into iPhoto?
All of the photos in my iphoto library have disappeared.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have had a wide collection of photos and videos for the past two years on my mac book pro and today i tried to plug in my iphone onto my laptop to transfer more photos onto my library. usually iphoto pops up and asks me which photos i want to add to the library but, this time it asked me which library i wanted to choose. It didnt show the iphoto library whatso ever. the only other option was to 'create new library' ( or something along those lines.. all i remember were the words create) so i clicked that option and it finally showed my iphoto library but none of my photos or videos were there !

Tried to delete an email off my iPhone. In doing so, not only did I delete that email, but I also deleted my inbox as well.
Looked for my deleted emails in the trash but they weren't there.
They are also not in any other folder I have. Odd thing is that the original email I wanted to delete does show up in my trash but all the other older emails do not.
I've sent myself a few emails and deleted to see if they ended up in the trash as well and they do. But my other emails are gone.
This is on my Yahoo account and done on my iPhone.
I recently upgraded to 10.6.4 but stupidly did not create a back up immediately afterwards. Now, a couple of weeks on, after some music software crashed I appear to have lost all my system utilities files in the Utilities folder inside the Applications folder. This includes my disk Ulity File. I cannot locate them via finder and although I have certainly not deleted them, they have gone. I can't repair my permissions etc. I tried restoring the Utility folder contents from the previous OX version via Time Machine, however ( as expected) I got a message declaring the Utilities file was not the correct version.

He recently had his computer freeze up on him and it was hard booted. After it was hard booted, he logged back in, but noticed he had to setup his entourage account again. All of the shortcuts he had put in his dock were gone. when he tried to log into photoshop it asked him to setup his fonts as if this were a new account. It seems as if his profile on the computer is corrupt. Is there anyway for us to check this and recover all of the settings he had previously?
I tried to open my mac app store a few days ago but a question mark showed up on top of the icon, than the icon just disappeared and now I can't find it anywhere. How do I get it back?

A question. I have a client who thinks that photos might have been exported out of his iPhoto on his Snow Leopard iMac. Now, there is no parental controls set on his computer so thats not an option to trace back. Is there any other methods that I can attempt to see if anybody has tampered with his iPhoto account?

I have googled and searched. I know it is probably right in front of me too.
I purchased photoshop elements and installed it on my iMac. In photoshop, I opened a photo that was in iPhoto, edited the photo, then saved it with a new name (to preserve the original photo - I simply added the letter "a" at the end of the file name).
Now I can't find the edited photo - it's not in iPhoto in the event that the original was in. I can locate the photo using the search magnifying glass in the top right of the screen, but I don't know where it's actually located to find directly. If I right-click the file name it appears to show a hierarchy of paths that seems to indicate it's in the same "event" (June 14, 2010) in iPhoto. But it's not. When I open finder and go to iPhoto library, it doesn't show the contents.
Is there a way to find all the duplicate photos at once so that they can be deleted from iPhoto, thus creating more space??

I'm trying to find my original photos that I think are stored somewhere in Iphoto. Whenever I go to my user in finder, then to pictures, I see the photo library option, but when I hope it, it takes me to the IPhoto application, and I still can't find my unmodified originals.

I currently have iPhoto, but it doesn't seem to create folders in the "Pictures" directory, so I doubt switching to another program from iPhoto will be simple. View 3 Replies View RelatedI do a home photo editing business. One of a my clients sent me a disc that she zipped to compress because there were a lot of pictures on it. When I try to open it on my Mac Book Pro I keep getting an error message that it cannot find alias and what program do I want to use to open it. It also gives me an option to "fix alias" but it doesn't seem to work. What am I doing wrong? Why can't I open zip files on my Mac Book Pro? I should probably mention that the client also uses a Mac Book Pro and her pictures were in her iPhoto before she zipped them on a disc.

I'm sure it's not a virus but I'd like to prevent this episode again.
-About 10 minutes ago I inserted my memory stick into my keyboard, and then connected to Cisco.
-I then tried to connect to my school's server and while the progress bar was loading I opened InDesign.
-The Indesign icon started doing it's little jumping thing but nothing was happening. I minimized my browser to look at the progress bar and it was still trying to connect to server. I waited about 2 minutes and when nothing happened I tried a force quit.
-It said that InDesign was not responding so I Force Quit it and nothing happened.
-I then tried to shut down the progress bar but I had that infuriating pinwheel going.
-I decided on a manual shutdown.
-I then turned the computer back on.
-Repeated the same steps except that this time Force Quit said my Safari AND Finder was not responding.
-I Force Quit Finder first. Then Force Quit Connecting to server but all of a sudden my desktop items disappeared as well as my toolbar at the top.
-I tried another manual shutdown because I couldn't call up my Force Quit with my shortcut keys and waited a minute.
-Turned my computer back on but the screen hadn't changed it was as if I had merely put my computer to sleep. I tried this twice.
-Then I turned it off again and this time unplugged my computer and waited a couple seconds.
-I am now on my third try and am afraid to connect to my school's server. I have only opened Safari to type this. I have an assignment due tomorrow!

I installed a copy of Windows Vista on my 15in Macbook Pro. I did this in order to play Pro Evolution Soccer 2009 and some other games on my laptop. The machine is more than capable of running the game and I've read forum posts that had said that it works perfectly fine through boot camp. I installed the game and was playing it just fine for about 1-2 months until one day the game began to lag really bad and the sound also disappeared.

I used iphoto to import them. After over 9 hours there was still 4500 pics left to be imported.
The total size of all the pics is 1.5 gigs. I can't imagine why it would take this long.

Last night I was in the process of backing up my files because my Mac has so much on it, I was transferring older stuff to my external hard drive to open up some space. In the process my computer started acting slow. So I thought I deleted the photos I had already transferred over, instead I deleted all Of my photos from 08-09. They aren't in the the trash can because I emptied it right there...trying to get more space.
Please, is there any way I can recover those files?
I downloaded a program last night, and thought it was free, but once it was done finding all my pictures, it asked for a registration code in order to actually save the photos. I don't have the money to spend a hundred dollars on a program.
Installed Yosemite a couple of weeks ago. No problems. Yesterday unable to download photos from SD card. First I was able to download the old photos from the card but not the newer images. Now nothing will download into Aperture or iPhoto. I turned off the computer and tried again.

I have a recuuring problem with my Macbook. I have taken it into the mac store on countless occasion because of faulty Disc drives/optical drives. I am trying to burn a disc of photos and have done all the correct steps but this message continually appears. I am not able to get 20 pictures off my digital Kodak EasyShare DX4530 to my computer using a USB cable and ImageCapture or iPhoto. The photos appear (I can see all the photos and files) but I am unable to transfer them or even open them and get information off. I think that this is because the pictures are saved on the Kodak camera's internal memory. What can I do to get around this problem?
