All of a sudden I am getting an error message when printing to an HP 1320 N. I am using Mac OS X 10.4.11 The error message is "The process "hppostprocessing" terminated unexpectedly on signal 5"
I have reinstalled the drivers. Reset the printing Queue. It was working fine two days ago, then we had a loose network cable and now, everyone in the office can print (cable now intact) but me.
However when I close it and open it again I get a JVM termination error. I think it has something to do with 'permissions' as when I run the disk utility and repair the permissions it reports that the JVM location permissions are fixed. It then lauches the first time, but not a second time?
FWIW, I'm running eclipse in a user/Applications folder and the user account permissions are for just a user.
So, I have a working eclipse install providing I run the disk repair utility each time before launching it, but it is a little tedious.
I have a little problem with one of my applications. The application is very important for me and I need it nearly every day. But now it shows my an error message. 'JVM terminated. Exit code=-1' [...]
I'm using Mac OS X 10.6.4 and my system is up to date.
We have a Mac here running 10.5 and users are complaining about how long it takes to print (by comparison to Windows) and if there's any way to speed it up. Unlike the Windows machines which go to a print server, OS X prints directly to the printer. The types of documents they're printing are large, so either big graphics or multiple copies consisting of lots of text/pictures.
By my understanding what's happening is the printer waits until the entire job has spooled before it starts to print. Which makes me wonder if there's a OS X equivalent to the Windows option "start printing immediately". I've been looking around Google etc but haven't found much. Having said that I'm a Windows admin so I could be heading down the wrong track.
All applications quit suddenly when I click on print or press command+P. I tried everything to solve the problem including:
1) Uninstalled and reinstalled printer driver software.
2) Removed and readded the printer in printer setup utility
3) Reinstalled the whole operating system (Tiger) and installed all the updates.
4) Then it occured to me to test the printer using other user accounts in my computer and it works fine on other accounts! So the problem is just in my user account!
This is left over from a WD backup process that I deleted. Keeps trying to run, but can't find the file. View 2 Replies View RelatedI wanted to do a clean install of Lion and change the name of my disc so I booted in Recovery Mode and erased my disc. When I install lion, it goes through everything and I wait the full 2 hours or so for it to download and install but right at the very end it says an error occurred while installing the mac os x and then I get the rainbow pinwheel and am required to shut down my mac by holding the power button. I am currently booted from an external hard drive as this is my only connection to the internet. I really want to get Lion to work on my internal drive. I just partitioned out my internal into 2 partitions (I read something about that?) and I'm going to give the install another go.

I have followed the appropiate steps to transfer data from a PC to my iMac (with Migration Assistant). The transfer has been going on for 2 days now and I'm getting frustrated with the long wait. I think I must have asked to transfer too much data but when I try to cancel the transfer, I get a message saying that it is not recommended to terminate the process. What happens if I cancel the transfer now, despite the recommendation not to? Will either or both my computers suffer irreparable damage? Will I loose the data in my PC? Will I not be able to try again?

I have an alu iMac with a 500GB HDD. There is about 200GB free. Every time I run the Bootcamp Assistant, choose a Windows partition (doesn't matter what size), it sits with the progress bar spinning for ages before it gives me the error "Disk could not be partitioned as some files cannot be moved. Please reformat the disk and try again". There is no way I can back the disk up, reformat, reinstall and re-update everything. No other apps are running when I run the Bootcamp Assistant.

The weird thing is that I get no kernel panic or crashes or anything.If you recommend reinstalling Leopard, why don't I just rather wait for Snow Leopard

Got a iMac running OS 10.6, and am wanting to print from a Samsung ML-1710P printer connected via serial port to a XP PC. Everything seems to all be communicating with each other, except I eventually get a print error on the XP machine in the print manager. Can anyone help with this?
Notes:
- the computer and printer can be seen by the mac.
- when a print job is sent, the mac spools and sends it "ok"
- the XP print manager status changes to "printing" then after about 1 min changes to an error.
- the latest driver for that printer is installed on the XP machine.
- I have tried to use the Generic Postscript Printer driver, the Generic PCL Laser Printer driver and an old Mac OS10.3 driver from the Mac end. There are no newer drivers available. I have shared this successfully printer before, but only from another windows machine.
I am trying to connect to a windows network printer through my MacBook Air. I can connect to the printer via the windows network and can send documents to print. The document goes through to print but at the last second it says there is an error. When looking on the network windows computer, in which the printer is installed, I can see the document has gone through to print using the printer dialogue box for microsoft, but it details there is an error and the document doesn't print.
It seems that they are connected but there is still an error.Both Windows and Mac computers are up to date currently and the printer is a HP Deskjet F4180.
I can't get Safari to launch. I keep getting the error message that Safari unexpectedly quit. I am using OS X 10.4.11 and Safari 3.1.2. Firefox works. I tried launching Safari with another user and the same thing happens. Do you know what the problem might be?

Apple did not have anything for this model listed under the popup menu selection "Select Printer Software". The driver for printer was written for classic so I can't install it from the CD.
Everything prints, but an extra page is also printed with the following message:

I've been trying to get it to work for the last 10 hours and I am so frustrated. Taking another route (not USB Bonjour) I tried setting up IP with LPD. I get that my IP address is "valid and complete". Leaving Queue blank as instructed on the "Add Printer" pane, I choose "Print Using" C511 then I get "Unable to connect due to an error. Would you still like to create the queue?". Neither Continue or Cancel lets me print. I read somewhere to put "lp" in the queue instead of leaving it blank and that does not work either. I tried selecting a generic printer instead of my installed driver 511 but no success. Is there some other way that I can print wirelessly from this printer?

Upon restart, I am able to boot back into Mac OS X, but sometimes one, or both of the raid arrays will not mount.However, after a period of 0.5 - 2 hours, the array would magically re-appear again. Sometimes this might even happen to internal drives that I had mounted inside the chassis of the Mac Pro.
