Jun 3, 2012I am running a network using a Time Machine as my DHCP server and Verizon wireless router. I use Microsoft Exchange for email, etc. For hours at a time, my Intel iMac (OS 10.7.4) will not connect to my Exchange Server using Outlook 2012, and I can not connect to the Exchange server using my browsers-Google Chrome or Safari (Outlook web access).I get errors that the server is not available. If I use another computer on my network, like my MacBook, it connects both through Outlook or Web Access in a browser window.
I have the same problem on my iMac whether I connect via ethernet or wireless. Firewall is disabled, using no proxies, etc... The problem may persist for a few hours or a day at a time and will spontaneously resolve-I have tried changing DHCP settings, etc... The problem occurs for all user accounts, and does not seem to differ if multiple users are logged or just one. The Exchange server address is the only web address I seem to have this problem with.

Even with these changes my In has once again gone corrupt.
Removing the .toc and "forcing Eu to rebuild did nothing at all.
I tossed the In and the .toc and reset the server (my messages are left on the server for 15 days under Eu prefs.) to show all messages unread, thinking that and a new In box, and Eudora would download all the messages on the server.
So is there a way to tell Eudora to download from the server anything that's there?

May 4, 2012I've always been as safe as I know how to be with my mac. In case it is relevant, I run sophos security through my school and don't have any pirated software or files. That being said, Safari has been quitting very frequently. Many programs crash for no reason but none as often as safari. The reason it always offers is that something about the microsoft office genuine plugin. I think it's called microsoftofficegenuine.so I don't even run microsoft office... I had a legal 2004 edition a few months ago but it refused to open so I deleted it and now run openoffice. I do have silverlight though, because of netflix.
So far to fix the problem I have run software updates & installed those and repaired disk permissions via disk utility. I deleted the "microsoft updates" file (might have been a bad idea) and also, when I try to open this plugin it mentions, or search it on my system, it doesn't show anything, so I can't delete that. I've checked for this new flashback trojan but that website to check your UUID says mine is not reported as being infected...whatever that means. Also, something that has been gradually getting worse over the last few months:
I've noticed that some of my right click options have changed from names such as "open" and "open with" to numbers like N160. Most recently some of my finder options in the left tool bar have changed to S5, S6, S7, etc. Perhaps in my angst to fix things I deleted an important file... There is no problem connecting to my server/provider online, so the server is working ok. My guess is that I am missing some crucial ticked or unticked box in the mail set up.

Apr 9, 2009I've got a real odd problem with safari 4. For some reason it is cutting my download speeds in about 1/2 from my server and many other places.
If I restart safari I will be able to download close to my 18 Mbps for a little bit but then it will just start to slow down and after about 30 minutes it will be down to about 6 - 8 Mbps.

Oct 2, 2009Does anybody know when Microsoft plans on releasing a newer version of Microsoft Office for Mac? One of my co-workers currently own the 2008 version and he's really unhappy with it. He has an excel file that's around 4MB in filesize, containing some 11,000 rows and a bunch of columns too and it's really slow to work with (he has a 1 year old MacBook Pro) and some times excel also "runs out of memory" it says and the application just freezes. It should be updated properly etc, but I wonder if maybe a newer version more suited for Snow Leopard, might be released soon?

I have read that if you only uninstall part of Microsoft Office, it'll create problems with the other programs in the suite. How can I go about safely uninstalling these programs? Do I need to fully uninstall and then re-install? I made sure while installing Office to opt for a custom installation so I could un-check Entourage and Messenger. However, I didn't see those specific programs on the custom installation list. Are they maybe under a different name (like, for example, "Microsoft Essentials")? I don't know what to do. Help is much appreciated!
