Safari keeps slowing down, freezing, and unfreezing. Intermittant. Computer seems to be fine otherwise. Can I reinstall Safari? Can i do it from Safari or do I need to use another browser?

I'm running a Macbook with 4 gb of RAM.
My FireFox is constantly "hiccupping" with video playback - for instance, YouTube videos. The video freezes up every 10 seconds or so for about 2-3 seconds as the audio continues, then the video unfreezes. Even as I type this, things I'm entering in this box aren't showing up for a second or two.
Additionally, I have certain Flash videos that won't play. I have the newest Flash player and Adobe Flash's website test says my Flash Player is working.
I don't have any of these problems in Safari, but I like FireFox a lot more (Add-ins, NORMALLY a faster browser, better GUI, etc.).
I've tried reinstalling Flash and disabling Adblock (I hear it's the cause for stuff a lot of times) but nothing has worked.
I am having issues with Safari freezing on my mac. I am running Safari 4.1.2 and running operating system 10.4.11. I am not sure if this is correct but i managed to sample the page by going on the Activity monitor.

My Safari browser keeps freezing up, and does nothing but show the OSX Lollipop. I can temporary fix this by copieing the CONTENT folder from another MAC to mine and restarting, but everytime there is an update to Safari, Java, Flash etc. the same thing happens again.I am running Lion 10.7.3 on an Intel Mac and everything is updated. This has been happening on and off for weeks. Sometimes it even seems like only search engine sites like Yahoo! and Google aren't working. I click on a site and it does nothing. Then after a long time it says Safari can't connect to the internet. What can I do to find out what is wrong? It's taking me forever just to post this question because Safari is hardly working for me at all right now.

I have a new 13" MBP and recently a problem arose and it is annoying the hell out of me. Pretty often(i'd say once every 30 minutes of web browsing)while doing simple web browing, everything will lock up and I will get the beachball for a solid minute. If iTunes is open and playing when this is going to happen, the music pauses like 3 seconds before everything else freezes. Has anyone ever seen this, and if so do you have a solution?
View 8 Replies View RelatedAs the thread title states, ever since I updated to snow leopard, both safari and firefox freeze up when I access the ESPN home page and occasionally a few other sites that I have never experienced problems with before on leopard. However, if i turn off the enable plug-ins button in the safari preferences pane, most of the sites work just fine. I thought it may be flash related but i have since updated the programs it it continues to freeze up on the ESPN page. side note, this happens on both my work and home computers (very different specs between the two).
View 19 Replies View RelatedI run a MBP early 2008 2.5 Penryn. I have 6GB OWC RAM and a 500GB Hitachi HDD. I run SL 10.6.2. From time to time, Safari freezes my computer for a time between a few seconds up to about 15 seconds, when I open a new tab with "CMD+T" or a new window with "CMD+N". As the whole computer freezes during this time, it is pretty annoying.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm having serious issues with Safari 4. It's extremely glitchy and laggy, freezing for seconds when I open new tabs, or even when I scroll down. Many times I'm forced to force quit because it remains frozen. I have a Black Macbook with Leopard on it. The computer still performs excellently, so perfomance isn't an issue. When Safari freezes and I have to quit, I'm typically on flash heavy sites (which I'm sure adds fuel to the fire). But Safari almost always lags for me.

For some reason safari is acting weird. It will let me log onto gmail but as soon as i try to click an email it freezes up. Also when i click a link in vimeo it freezes up as well. I have to force quit and then re open the broswer. I use firefox to get around it but sometimes that acts up too. Do they need to release a new patch or something? I jsut want to know why did this start acting this way. All my software is up to date jsut to let you know and accessing safari on my ipad works jsut fine as well. I am using a imac to try to access my email and thats where the problems seem to be.

I have a 2009 13 inch MBP with 4G of RAM. Its loaded with the current version of Snow Leopard, version 5.1.5 of Safari and version 4.5 0f the Mail App. The screen of the MBP freezes up 3 - 4 times per day. Ninety percent of the time Safari is open when this happens (some of the time, the Mail App is open as well. The remainder of the time I may have another browser open, but the Mail app is open. I can move the cursor around the screen and "force quit" any open applications except Mail and Safari when this happens. The icons for Safari and the Mail App in my Dock turn grey if I click on them. Otherwise the spinning pizza wheel shows up. I have to use the power button to turn off and restart the machine.
I have tried resetting the PRAM. I also got a couple of error messages concerning Hazel (v3.1.1) via Growl on one occasion. Simply stated that there was an error when Hazel started to run, checking .docx files for Music and video. (Hazel runs from startup and I have rules set up to remove partial and duplicate downloads and clear all Trash files within a set period). I uninstalled Hazel, but the freezing still occurs. The apps I have running most of the day are Mail, a browser, Omnifocus, Preview and either Pages or Word in Office for Mac 2011. I back up a couple of times a day using Time Machine and every couple of days update a copy of my hard drive using Carbon Copy Cloner.

I have the 2013 15 inch retina Macbook Pro and I have been having a problem with it lately. Whenever I use safari, my browser is freezing constantly. Its is only when I use safari, not any other applications, such as Microsoft word. Normally, I wouldn't consider this a big issue, but it gets worse. When I don't navigate on my computer and let it rest for a minute or so (while running safari and sometimes other applications) this screen pops up:

My safari browser is slow (MacBook Pro 10.6.8). I often have to shut down my computer because it freezes with the spinning color wheel. Sometimes the browser will not be slow when I switch to the chrome browser, but sometimes it is. I may have a logic board problem so I am wondering if that could have anything to do with my slow browser. When I click on Software Update, it shows no software updates (for safari). when i was on my laptop and i forgot to put it on charge so it went flat while i was watching a movie (not on the internet). I couldn't be bothered charging it so i just put it down and went to sleep. The next morning i turned it on and tried opening safari and it went extremely slow, i got the beach ball and when i clicked the apple on top left to try to force quit, after 2 seconds of clicking that froze. When i tried to force quit it from my dock i would click force quit and then my dock would freeze. At this point my mac was just about completely frozen. The brightness didn't change, sound nothing but only the mouse could move. I reset and the exact same thing happened. Google Chrome works so i am using this and i get no freezing problems. It is just when i use Safari.

Does anyone have problems with Mac Pros and freezing BT Mice? Every so often, my BT mouse freezes on me for a few seconds. It's more than frustrating. What's the suggestion? Switch to plain old wireless mouse?

I restart and it loads up all fine but as soon as I open something (Finder window, Mail, Safari etc) it will remain usable for about 30 more seconds until it just freezes with a blank screen (sometimes black, red or white) OR the screen image will freeze but I can still move the mouse except nothing is clickable anymore. I've resorted to starting up in safe mode to post this but has anyone had this issue before?
View 3 Replies View RelatedThis has happened about three or four times now in which I'll wake my MacBook (unibody) from sleep (ie. open it up), and it'll have a frozen clock at some random time, renders spotlight unable to function, freezes battery status (even says it's plugged in at 100% even though it's sitting in my lap unplugged (has been unplugged since las night).
Even a weird wifi indicator next to the CPU menu Meters. I dunno what's going on. Has happened randomly when I leave it off over night. Just a minor inconvenience since it requires a restart. Just wondering if you guys know what's going on and/or how to fix it.
My mac keeps freezing for several minutes at a time and I've even had to resort to holding down the power button a few times just to reboot the computer. I really only use iTunes, surf the web, and play World of Warcraft on it and I've never had any issues until about a month ago. I'm pretty computer illiterate so I don't really know how to fix or diagnose whatever the problem is, but come this September I'll have had this particular iMac for 2 years. I've downloaded every update I can, iTunes or otherwise and nothing is working.
View 12 Replies View RelatedAfter login, or a few minutes after login, my 17" macbook running 10.6.4 seems to just freeze up. The weird thing is, the whole computer works via keyboard, and the mouse CURSOR works, but when I highlight over items (i.e dock) nothing appears, and I can't click on anything. I can still use the keyboard, so I just hit the power button on my MBP and push enter to shut down and restart again, but everytime I login this freezing keeps occurring. It occurs either as soon as I log in, or several minutes after. Never in between, or never after that time. Is this some kind of kernel panic? Will re-installing OSX and/or repairing the disc (disc utility) help this issue.
