Mac Pro :: Where To Get Good Picture Quality Monitor
Nov 24, 2010I just have ordered a new Mac Pro. But I'm not sure which display I should go for. The monitor should have the following strenghts:
1. Accurate colours (I love DSLR photography), really good overall picture quality
2. It should also be a good gaming monitor
I've already narrowed down my selection to the Dell U2410, Apple LED cinema 24", Dell U2711 or Apple LED cinemea 27" display.

Jun 18, 2012I am looking to connect my macbook pro to an Acer G24 monitor, but am not sure what best way to do it.The resolution of the monitor is 1920x1200, and it is a 24" screen, with VGA, DVI, and HDMI ports.My macbook pro is the late 2011 entry model. Â
Will there be a difference in the quality of the picture on my external monitor, depending on whether I connect using a HDMI cable or a DVI cable? I will have to buy an adapter for each of these, to plug into the mini DVI port on my mac, will this alter the quality of the picture at all? If I were to buy an Apple Tv, would I be able to plug it straight into my monitor using a HDMI cable? If so, how would I manage the audio, as my monitor does not have speakers. Would using a thunderbolt cable (with HDMI adaptor) increase the quality of the picture of my monitor?   Â

Mar 11, 2010I'm thinking of switching my up coming iMac purchase to a new mac pro. Obviously, I would need to buy a monitor but this site says updates are due soon. Just curious... what do you guys think a new display would offer that a current one doesn't. The biggest one they have now is more then enough and I like the picture quality. What else besides size and resolution could they upgrade?

Oct 16, 2008I picked up a new MacBook yesterday and I noticed a weird issue when coming out of "monitor sleep" mode, not regular sleep mode.
When I move the mouse, the external monitor shows what you see in the picture, kinda like a TV with no signal. The MacBook screen works fine so what I just do is unplug and re-plug in the DVI plug and everything is good again.
My 24 inch Dell monitor worked fine with my M1330 and other computers so I know it's not that. Does anyone have the same issue or maybe give me some light on this?

Aug 5, 2009As said, my current set up is an HDMI - DVI cable (HDMI to monitor and DVI to adapter) and my DVI - mini DisplayPort adapter, everything is connected fine but when I turn on the monitor, it says cable not found... and nothing is displayed on the screen but on the Macbook side of things, it sees the monitor is connected (I can extend the screen and leave the screen) but other than that, it appears I cannot get an image on the monitor, pressing every button on the monitor does not work either.
Any other information that may seem necessary, let me know. I tried clearing my PRAM and clearing the power and such but nothing seems to work.
Mac Mini :: Monitor Rotated 90 Degrees In Portrait - Quality Goes Away
Nov 24, 2010I just picked up a 2010 Mac Mini. Intel 2.4 cpu, installed a OWC SSD and 8gb of RAM. Anyways, using the HDMI to DVI that was included, anytime I switch to have the monitor rotated 90 degrees so it is in portrait, the quality goes away. The text no longer looks clear, the display seems to lag, and if I drag a window, the image tears really bad. Just confirmed this also happens with a mini display port to dvi connection. I have also tried 2 different DVI cables, both a single link and a dual link.

Jan 9, 2010I have a 27" i7. I have a 24" DVI Montior hooked up to it via MDP->DVI adaptor. When the 24" Monitor is on, everything is fine. When I turn the monitor off, the magic mouse tracking on the 27" screen stutters. I am not kidding - it took me ages to figure out that to fix I either need to turn the other monitor on OR disconnect the MDP->DVI adaptor.

Jan 9, 2009Just got a cube and a 17" ADC studio monitor off ebay from different sellers and there is a problem with one of them... when i connect everything and I switch everything on the cube turns on and automatically switches the monitor on but I get no picture. I get the tune that the thing started up but no picture at all
i tried the cube with a very old compaq monitor i had running around that uses vga and still no picture...
I guess it is the cube that is the bad thing... Am I guessing right?
what can I do to solve the problem (apart from getting another cube)

Jan 31, 2010I have a G4 powerbook with an LCD that only displays the top 25% of the screen. I've been using an external monitor with it just fine. Today, I reinstalled the OS and ran into a problem. The main OSX startup menu (you know, where it asks for your location, timezone, personal info, etc) is prompting me for information, and I can't see the forms to fill them in! The external monitor defaults to "extended" as opposed to "mirrored", and the forms are embedded, meaning I can't drag them over to my external monitor. Obviously, if I can't fill out these forms and get to the desktop, the laptop is completely useless.
Does anyone know how to force the external monitor to be "mirrored" from startup? Is there a keycommand?

Jul 30, 2005I have been using the latest macbook pro 13.3" since April 2010. Over the last week the monitor suddenly goes completely white and the external monitor goes black. The laptop becomes unresponsive although the programmes opened continue running (e.g a skype voice call would continue without interruption although the monitor is all white).
The only solution at the moment is to press the turn off button for a few seconds then switch the laptop on again. It will then work normally until for no apparent reason this happens again.

Nov 11, 2005Started archiving all my old photos and creating dvds. started off using iphoto which is great for compiling a quick slideshow to a couple of music tracks. i then imported these to idvd and created my first dvd project which i was pretty pleased with for a first attempt. The only thing i found annoying was that i could not link all the slideshows together in idvd so that they played one after another, instead you had to come back to the menu and start the next one...so i thought i would import these slideshow movies into imovie and create a complete movie with chapters, titles etc. but when i did this i noticed that the quality of the slideshow in imovie was very noticeably worse.
being new to mac i wasnt sure what was up so i thought about importing the photos directly into imovie and working with them there. but once again the quality was really poor compared to the iphoto and idvd slideshows. after this i though maybe its just a preview problem and all will be well when i burn them to dvd and watch them on tv...so i burnt a dvd with one slideshow created in iphoto and imported into idvd and also put on a movie of the same slide show that id imported into imovie and back.
anyway long story short quality still better in slide show created in iphoto.

Dec 1, 2010I have my MacBook Air hooked up to a 46" HDTV so that I can play games on the big screen.
Problem is, I notice a slight lag with the mouse when looking around in the game on the big screen.
When I look at the game from my MacBook Air there is no lag with the mouse.
I heard theres a mode called "clamshell" that would fix this but don't know where to find it or enable it.
Info on fixing the lag from the big screen so that games could be playable when watching from the big screen.
