View 4 Repliesi installed the airport extreme card from my G5 cos she wants it in her bedroom but it's not connecting to the router,
my router is a Thomson TG585 V7
i never had this problem with old airport, it only seems to be with extreme although the card was connecting to the network from my g5 was basically inches away from it, the Emac is on the floor about 2ft away i goto connect and it just keeps timing out, i've made sure the wpa key is correct and even tried manually entering the network config details.
which AirPort card would i install to my eMac?

My eMac is the 1ghz model and is running OS 10.4
Right recently I took my airport card out of my emac to see if it was normal or extreme (it be extreme). I took the antenna off it then examined it then I put it back in the same way it said on apples website. It seemed simple enough .But no! It didn't work! now my emac does not even pick up the card, it said its not installed! Seriously I've tried everything! even forcing it in and even acupuncture (not really just thought it was funny) right so my airport cards not working.
View 5 Replies View RelatedMy university was tossing an eMac so I decided to take it. I put Leopard on it (10.5) and purchased an Airport Extreme PCI Card (A1026). I followed the instructions here: [URL] to a T, and no luck. System Profiler doesn't recognize the card. So, I decided to take the card out and put it back in while the computer was on. The computer came up with the black screen that says I need to restart the computer; however, upon restart it still doesn't recognize the card.

View 14 Replies View RelatedI bought an eMac off Craigslist. I really really love it. Its the 1GHz model, it does everything I want it to.
I needed it to have wireless for when I bring it home over the summer (Im at school now and we have ethernet cables) so I bought an airport extreme off ebay for about $20.
I followed the instructions (Held the door down, turned it off, installed it and plugged the antenna in) and turned it back on. No Airport symbol appeared at the top.
I searched a little bit, its running 10.3.9 and so i found it requires a driver (it didnt come with a CD).
I installed the Driver, restarted it and still nothing. I even made sure it was installed properly, and as far as I can tell everything is hooked in ok.
The guy who sold it to me is supposedly sending me an install of Tiger, would that help it recognize it? Im not really placing all my eggs in one basket either that he'll send it to me, any suggestions?

View 2 Replies View RelatedJust today my eMac stopped recognizing the Airport Extreme Card. I tried restarting, reseting PRAM and the PMU, and pulling the card in and out.
View 11 Replies View RelatedI just installed the Airport extreme wireless card on my emac, but I have run into some problems:
1)after installing the card, the mac took a very long time to start up, I tested to make sure it was the card: everytime I started it up without the card, it did the normal thing, but with the card, it took a long time
2)after finally starting up, nowhere can i find where/how to configure the wireless. When I go to configure the network, it has all options, but the airport card option is not usable.
So: how can i access the airport card settings to get wireless connectivity?

Does anyone know the settings I need to input or where I would find them? I'm at a loss for what to do because usually it all works when initially connecting.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a regular USB keyboard, not a mac one, so is there a button I can press to open my CD drive? I clicked F1-12 and nothing. Airport extreme card - Ive been reading posts on forums about the eMac and they said the regular Airport card isn't made anymore but the extreme is. Naturally, I was hoping my mac would require the latter so I could easily run out and buy one at an apple store. Unfortunately I found out they don't make the airport extreme anymore either. It's available on amazon and ebay, I know. BUT....does anyone know anything else I can use besides the airport extreme? I want to get hooked up to the internet before Monday so I can use AIM in my room and do some work over the weekend. Anything that I could find at Best Buy or some other store? Or even any alternative ways of getting the internet to work wirelessly (even just temporarily while I wait for the card to come in)? I've been googling a lot but google always want to change my "emac" to "imac" .

Has ANYONE had the following problem: Original titanium PowerBook G4, fully up-to-date AirPort software and Mac OS X 10.4.8, which will not communicate with a new AirPort Express wireless router in WPA Personal (neither WPA nor WPA2), but which WILL communicate quite happily with any wireless router, anywhere, including aforementioned nice new AirPort, in WEP? Access control is NOT active.

I have used my airport extreme for several years. It now will only allow one computer to be connected to wireless at a time. When the new computer signs in shows disconnected. I am able to connect but then the original user is bumped off when they try to switch pages. Talked to provider and everything seems to be OK on their end. Modem works when plugged directly into computer using ethernet cable.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am trying to install an airport card into my eMac ATI graphics machine. I bought the airport card (product number 630-2883/C) recommended for my model number. i was able to take apart the machine to find the slot I was supposed to insert the card into, but the width of the empty slot is just a tad to narrow; and I don't know why I can't insert the airport card when I bought the recommended version.

I have an aiport extreme card in my emac. It was installed around a year and a half ago and has workd fine until yesterday. it suddenly says that it is not configured. It also says the antenna cable is unplugged and that it is turned off. I tried to trouble shoot it with internet connection assistant which says cable is unplugged and aiport is off. I have taken the card out and reinstalled it and reattached the cable mutiple times to no avail. And yes, I know how hard it is to push in.

I need more ram for my eMac 1ghz. It has 512mb and its a little slow during some things. Like IMovie. What type of ram do I need?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a 1.25 ghz eMac with 1 512 stick currently in. What's the max amount of ram that I can put in? And, do I have to look for anything else except for "DDR SDRAM?" Do I need a certain PC number?
View 2 Replies View RelatedIm purchasing an eMac in a couple days, but am a little confused about performance. Its a 1 GHZ PowerPC G4 with 256MB of Ram but my last pc blew up (literaly) However the 1GB of RAM that was in still works and will fit in it.
Besides that my Questions pertain to Leopard and Time Machine. I Know that Leopard will run on this Mac, But what about performance? and I heard that the eMacs cant experience the i candy Time Machine offers.
How So? is it true? I really want the Ability to use Time Machine. (Right now i'm just using Genie Timeline for my Windows 7 PC)
So yeah I need 2 gigs of ram for my eMac 1.42ghz model. I found this but I don't know if there is anywhere to get it for less $.

I just got a USB 2.0 emac for nothing that was going to the recycler. The door specs are: 1.25 ghz/256/40GB/Combo "About this mac" shows that it has 512mb RAM installed in one slot, and it is running 10.4.11 Anyways, it seems to be working great so far. I was able to get one stick of 256mb supported RAM from the only other 1.25 ghz machine in the lot - the rest were 700 - 800mhz emacs. Is it OK to mix the 256 with the 512? I've read many places that it is fine, but will it actually boost the speed of apps and things, or should I just leave it as is? I read somewhere that it might slow down the speed between the two RAM capacities. I don't want to spend any money to buy more RAM.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have an EMac g4-255mb(just got 2 (256mb chips) never put in yet)-60gig running 10.4 (just got it) and now just got iLife 06) and then I have an 80gig external hard drive. So its like 140gig of room. But I only have a cd burner and dvd drive. Would it be cheaper to install an new internal drive? Or pay more for the external(cause there is no hard installation). What drives would work? And I have a $200 dollar gift card to bestbuy or futureshop.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have just got an excellent condition eMac 1.42GHz with the Radeon 9600 Card every transition is so smooth! Smoother than my MacBook!
Everything is standard, but it has an Airport Card in it as well which is cool
However, standard also means only 256MB of DDR3200 Memory.
Tiger is installed and everything updated.
Now I am planning to move this thing to Leopard alongside my MacBook. How much RAM shall I get for it? 512MB or 1GB? (bringing it to 768/1.25 respectively) Also what do I need to look out for brand-wise or type wise?
