I am hoping that I can get an answer to my question. I have a G4 Powerbook and when I play movies in iTunes, the playback is absolutely sluggish. I have the same problem when playing video online. What could my problem be?Specs:

I have a MacBook Pro and when I play movies in itunes, the movie keeps freezing. It runs for a few minutes and then stops for a while then starts again. What can i do to correct this?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI left my MBA over at my girlfriends house the past couple days so she could use it for some miscellaneous stuff. Well after renting a movie on Itunes last night, it started out fine and dandy but then started freezing and skipping. I tried most everything I could think of to no avail.
The movies will play fine for about 10 to 15 minutes at max and then will continue to start freezing and skipping again, everything else also runs pretty slow in general. I'm not sure if there is a heat problem as the AC at her place is on the crapper and she uses it mostly on her bed, though it looks like the CPU temp never really gets much hotter than 160F.
Im thinking about just doing a clean sweep and reinstalling OS X, I never know what she does sometimes and you never know if there is a hidden problem. Any other ideas? I'm very new to Macs in general and am not sure what the common problems are with MBAs
Today I rented and downloaded a movie from the iTunes store. Got about 5 minutes into it and the playback froze.... I tried to fast forward... Nothing. Tried to rewind. Nothing. So I closed iTunes completely and reopened. Now when I try to play the rental, I just get a black screen. I don't want to waste $4.

I get a "stutter" (for lack of better description) every minute and a half to two minutes during playback; very annoying. I am not sure if this affects anything but I increased streaming buffer size to large under advanced options with no positive effect.

My TV (connected to my Macbook for watching films) doesn't do this, and I was wondering if there's any software etc that can emulate this effect. I have Macpro 8 core, 2.8ghz/ati2600xt/6gb ram/640gb and when I play a MKV movie files in full screen (2560*1600 ON 30 " Monitor) I see movie in frames. I try on vista x64 ultimate - VLC, mediaplayer clasic - frames. OSX - VLC, QuickTime, frames. When I see the movie only in window. All is Ok.

I was wondering why and how I can stop the fact that when I watch the DVD back, if I have used any slow motion in the movie that it goes all shaky and doesn't run smoothly at all. How I can stop it happening and make it so that slow motion runs smoothly once burnt on to the dvd? It plays fine during playback on the computer before I have burnt it on to dvd.

When I play a streamed movie or tv programme off the net (ie from iplayer or 4OD) firstly the mouse doesn't disappear after 3-4 seconds and is always visible on screen and secondly on some occasions the screen just goes white! I have to quit playback and then go back to full screen to get rid of it.
View 1 Replies View Relatedmy G4 tower (specs in sig) and 15" PowerBook G4 1.33Ghz to iTunes 9.0.1 and the tower is giving me very slow performance. clicking to different play lists is accompanied by a delay of a second or more and sometimes a beach ball, and even switching between songs within a play list will sometimes involve a brief spinning beach ball. I've never had any version of iTunes, tight from the dawn of the application up to today, ever run this slow....
The PowerBook runs it better, though it definitely doesn't run quite as fast as the previous version. But nowhere near as bad as the on the tower. I just did a little cleanup on the tower with Onyx and it has not altered the poor performance.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI downloaded a huge 700mb .AVI file the other day and it wont play in WMP or QT. I'm assuming because of the size and .AVI tag on the end its encoded in DiVX. DiVX doesnt have a player or whatever for the mac and when I had winblows, there was software you could use to identify the proper codec and where to download it. Id really like to watch my Arnold Schwartzenegger video!

I have a powerbook g4 which has a screen resolution of 1280x854. Does that mean I can watch 720p content? Because adobe in terms of coding for mac is a big fail and won't let me watch anything above 480p with a steady frame rate, is this the same for non flash content?

I love the computer but the video playback on it is terrible. Even youtube videos are choppy. I can watch standard definition video files but not 720p. It there anything I can do or it is just a limitation of the G4 chip and time to upgrade to an intel?
View 11 Replies View RelatedMy Mac goes to sleep even when iTunes is playing. This is pretty ludicrous. Is there anyway to prevent this other than changing my power savings settings to never let my Mac go to sleep? I don't want to do that, I want my computer to go to sleep when I am not using it. This sure seems like a bug. I am running the newest version of iTunes as well as Lion.
My current energy saver settings are:
Computer Sleep: 15 min
Display Sleep: 15 min
Put hard disks to sleep when possible - yes
Wake for network access - yes
Allow power button to put the computer to sleep - yes
Start up automatically after a power failure - no
Restart automatically if the computer freezes - no
Again, I would rather not have to change these settings in order to keep iTunes playing.

I've got mac 10.6.8 and iTunes 10. I used to be able (on previous computer) to playback music as I imported from the same cd but I have never been able to do so since I upgraded. I have tried all the settings in itunes preferences for when you import a cd but whatever option I choose I cannot play and import at the same time and I know you are meant to be able to. If I start off by playing the cd and then hitting the import cd button it immediatley stops playing. If I start by hitting the import cd button (or change the preference to import when cd is inserted) then the play button is greyed out.

it basically appeared today, and I haven't changed anything, to my knowledge. Playback is choppy, with some stuttering and static noises...It does this even when playing straight to the computer speakers...I've disconnected my router to make it isn't the culprit (it slows down my internet connection quite a lot).Â

More and more I have this issue both during playback on any iMac or Mac mini or even iPOD where as the volume just goes up and comes down. From blasting my ears to a whisper, and all throughout songs from ACDC, Pink Floyd, classical, Samsh Mounth, etc. Most of the songs are in MP3 from my CDs that I ripped through iTunes. I tried AAC and it does the same thing, and AAC will not playback from my Amazon music account, so AAC is a no-go.
Even so I never had issues in the past when ripping my music through other applications, just seems for the last couple of years I have had intermittent issues ripping through iTunes. Any settings or other adjustments I should or should not have made? These are huge fluctuations that vary (on a scale of 0-10) from 2 to 8. Its that bad. All Systems are 10.6 or 10.7 and intel based.

I seem to be having problems either with hardware or iTunes. First, I notice a delayed response with iTunes when pressing play. It didn't used to take so long to start a track, or even unpause a track. This is with only one other program open, Firefox. Also, with mutiple files from different albums, there are pops, dropouts, and clicks when listening to music. It sounds like I'm moving the 1/8th jack around in the headphone output. This would lead me to believe I'm having a hardware issue. It happens with headphones or speakers.

I just purchased a new iMac with the latest iTunes (12.)Â
I'd transferred my iTunes off the old Mac Mini onto an external HD. During the setup of the new iMac, I imported to library from the external HD. Now my music list includes songs from the iMac HD AND the cloud purchases. When I play the songs, iTunes will play both those copies on the Mac as well as DOWNLOAD the song from the cloud.Â
i'm on a limited data plan & I don't want songs downloaded which already exist on my HD. Where's the "stopper" for this?Â
