I tried using it, but it changes my theme and song. I want to know it there's a way I can put it up as screensaver without the my selected song and theme changed.

Jan 27, 2008Using 10.5.1, no problem up until now (new 2.8 iMac). Working all day with Adobe Lightroom 1.3.1, again, no prior problems.The computer froze, which I noted when the screensaver when I left to go eat dinner stayed static without fading out to a new picture. After force quitting and restarting, I went to the System Prefs and when I went to the Desktop/Screensaver section, I got a blank window. I confirmed all the other System Prefs icons work fine. It's as if the Desktop/Screensaver settings are erased/gone/whatever.

Dec 19, 2009My new i5 iMac has been really slow after I get out of its screensaver or take it out of sleep. Even if its on the screensaver for a minute, moving the mouse causes it to freeze and try to load the desktop. This takes about a minute before my computer is fully functional again. Also, I don't know if this is just me thinking this or if its actually a problem, but the computer seems a lot slower than my previous, a 24" 3.06Ghz iMac.
Another thing, the fans seem to spin a lot more with this computer. Watching a YouTube or Hulu video makes the fans spin a ton. I've never had that happen with a Mac before. The computer also gets literally too hot to touch. Anybody else have this?
Also, on a (kind of) unrelated note, Windows performance with this is horrible. I've tried Windows 7 and Vista, and both run... adequately. The fans also spin a ton in Vista (what I currently have installed due to there being no 27" drivers for 7 yet).

Jul 17, 2008So my friend and I played a trick on an intern here at work who just got a new MBP. We swapped his background out for a vista one - real simple, right.
Well, he got back and had a good chuckle about it UNTIL - the system preferences panel crashed after he tried to switch it back.
So here is the only symptom:
Open system preferences
Click "backgrounds and screensaver"
window opens, looks ok
window closes and error screen pops up saying "system preferences unexpectedly closed"

Feb 4, 2009When I choose the Desktop/screensaver option in the system pane, it unexpectedly quits. I can see that my screensaver is set to "Never". It will not let me click on "Desktop". To help trouble shoot the issue, I made another login account with the default settings - and the system pane works. I am able to test the screen savers, ect.Is there a way to copy the files/setting from the new login in to the old?

Intel Mac :: Dock Spaces Desktop Picture Screensaver All Crashed And Won't Work
May 21, 2012The Dock doesn't appear. Spaces is greyed out and won't stay enabled. Desktop picture cannot be selected (stays standard blue screen). Screensaver does not work and cannot set hot corner.
I have deleted the dock plists, restarted, repaired permissions, updated to 10.6.8, restarted again. Still no dock, no Spaces, no desktop picture change, no screensaver.
How did this begin? I had lots of large-memory apps running (eg. Photoshop, Garageband, Pages, Audacity, etc) and then there was a freeze, I can't remember which app – probably Photoshop) and I had to shutdown using the on/off button.
After that startup, all the problems were present. :-( (I've looked at related Dock-crash posts here: I do not have installed: Parallels; Fusion.)

OS X :: Old Mac Documents And System Software Work With New System
Dec 11, 2009I have a g5 with sys 10.5.8 , that I just bought and old mac documents from 10 years ago.
For some reason it will not read them. How does one get old documents translated into something usable.
Secondly, the old system software and applications no longer seem to work with the new machine, is there a way to use those. The mac was always great about being able to use several system folders and their applications.

Is there any point in moving later versions of the named files listed in the Apple web page into the System Folder of the G3, or is that just asking for trouble? Improved performance of 9.2.2, or disaster?

Also bought additional 4gb ram.Reasons for this configuration are statements that quad is very fast, and Barefeats tests showing 2600 card faster than NVIDEA 8800 card for programs based on Apple graphics core. Jun 26, 2012I have a set of fonts that I need to use for a client's logo design. When I switched over from my MBP to this newer iMac, not all of the fonts in the font book are working. I've gone to several tech blogs and inquired about the issue and have gotten good advice but none seems to be the answer to my dilemma. In the FontBook, I can see the following:

But, when I try to engage them in either Photoshop or Illustrator, nothing but blank boxes seems to come up.

I really need Classic Environment to work. how to fix this without reinstalling anything?
