OS X V10.7 Lion :: Porting Downloaded 10.7 To USB Drive?
Apr 17, 2012
I am currently on OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard, and I have just I purchased Lion 10.7 from the App Store. The issue is that I my current Snow Leopard is having some issues and I prefer a fresh install from 10.7 through USB. How do I go about porting the downloaded 10.7 apps to a 8GB USB stick so that I could boot up from the USB stick and installed it to my MacBook?

I have a milky white iMac and the LCD went bad. It's not worth spending a grand to replace the LCD but the rest of the computer is fine so I thought I would put it to good use. So, I ported out the video to an external monitor. All I'm seeing is the wallpaper. No icons. No Menu Bar. Nothing except the wallpaper. I'm pretty sure it's a resolution issue but I can't get to anything to change it. I can right-click on the desktop but the options are limited and certainly don't let me change the resolution.
1)On my G4 mini, I have iTunes 9.0.3 which houses my current music library (not music files)
2)On an external drive, I have all my music files, organized by iTunes.
3)My new iMac - has exactly the same iTunes 9.03 installed. I have no music on my new iMac and in fact have not even opened iTunes as yet.
Can I:
a)Copy the entire iTunes Folder (located inside the Music folder) on the mini, and paste it into the iMac Music folder, replacing the iMac iTunes Folder.
b)Disconnect from the mini the external drive on which I have all my music files organized by iTunes, and hook it up to the new iMac.
Will my new iMac now play the music through iTunes just like the mini did? And after that, can I simply switch the external music hard drive between the iMac and mini as I please as long as I don't add/modify music in one and not the other library?
where on the hard drive to place the Quicktime update once it has downloaded onto a Mac? I can't seem to find the right location, and now cannot operate iTunes. I am using Firefox. My husband uses Safari, and I think I may have to download for his ID, as well.
About a month ago, a friend who had just purchased his first Mac emailed me and asked why his Dock DownLoad file disappeared. I had no idea why. He still hasn't been able to reestablish it.
Yesterday, I downloaded something and my Dock DownLoad file vanished. I have tried rebooting, using (useless) Help, Spotlight, Search, and several other things. NO JOY. NO DownLoad file.
1. Does anyone know where to find DownLoad or how to bring it back?
I have experienced several idiosyncrasies with Snow Leopard, but when I call Apple support, they are very nice, but haven't a clue as to why it's happening.
2. Another problem is that the Highlight gets anchored on something in Mail, Word, and some other Apps. When I click somewhere else, the whole area between the "anchor" and what I click on is lit up. Apple doesn't know what causes it. I have to go through multiple machinations to shake it loose. I don't know what it is that causes it or specifically how to "shake it loose". Neither does Apple.
3. When typing in Word or an editor, there are times when the type changes to UpperCase and won;t let go.
Another problem is that, at times, when I click on a file, it fills the screen. Apple is aware of this problem and is trying to find an answer. Nothing, to date.
Apple support can't tell me why the MacMail Inbox spinner disappeared or how to get it back.
There are times when I can't access the hidden Dock. After rebooting and trying other things, the Dock finally shows up but any additions that I have put on the Dock are no longer there.
When I put a DVD in the slot, for the first few seconds, it grinds but does smooth out.
I thought that SL was supposed to get rid of the "foibles". "What happened on the way to the Forum"?
Is anyone finding other SL idiosyncrasies? What are they?
If anyone can help with items 1., 2, and/or 3. I'd be grateful.
BTW, Apple says that items 2 and 3 MAY be caused by the wireless Magic Mouse and/or the wireless keyboard; however, when I use alternates, it still happens.
I have been trying since friday to download lion to save my mobileme. My hard drive was failing and i had to backup everything up but I didn't know it was failing til it failed last night. I got it replaced today and restored my drive. Now it's after hours at apple and i finally got to where i was trying to redownload Lion and it won't LET ME!!!!
it says I have to log in from the account i downloaded it from and won't let me download. I also can't get my system prefs to show i have my mobileme name. How am i going to get my account moved? I was told by apple care i had a few days grace period and i can't get this thing moved and can't afford to lose my email addresses
i just want to download my lion thing -- and it shows in purchases but i can't get it to download now that i've restored from time machine on the replacement drive i had put in today after SMART errors caused my hard drive to fail earlier.
I'm trying to dowload a lion upgrade and the lion icon drops down to the icon bar, and the download begins, but after 18 hours it is only 25% of the way through. I pause and resume every few hours in case the process is stuck, but nothing speeds this up. My wifi connection has been fast enough to download big installs like this before in a few hours, so I can't figure out what I need to be doing differently.
I was just having a browse through my purchased Apps on the Mac App Store. As you can see I am running Lion 10.7.3, however Lion appears in my purchased items but gives me the option to "Download" instead of "Downloaded".
I know its months away but I am concerned about this possibly interfering with the Mountain Lion update.

i just downloaded Mac OS X Lion but i can't install it. I click on the install Mac OS X image and it opens but then it hangs and finder says it's not responding. I'm currently running 10.6.8?
Is it possible to reinstall Lion like the following?
Download os x lion from app store Burn the .dmg to a disc Insert disc into Mac Boot, holding down C (?)
There are several types of dvd's. One i found is dvd +r, the other one was dvd -r.Whats the difference? How do i boot up with the dvd which contains the os x? Holding down C, like the real disc? My original disc is broken after moving my computer while the disc was spinning. It got scratches from it. My computer won't boot for some random problems I know.

I downloaded Lion when it first came out. Any ideas why my apps is not showing it as installed? I know it is as I have been using it for months. I don't want to be charged again.
i just saw a screenshot of a Lion desktop which had the user's memory usage, data being downloaded and uploaded and CPU usage at the top right near the clock. i was just wondering how i could get this on my desktop.
Has anyone had trouble with a Samsung ML1660 printer and OS Lion? Mine was working perfectly before the upgrade to Lion. i have downloaded new software but the MAc won't recognise it's there.
Normally/Before, when i download an app, i click to open, it will pop up a windows to ask me if i want to open it, for it's downloaded from the internet, i will allow it.
But now, nothing pop up, and if i launch no matter which app downloaded from the net, the icon in the dock keep jumping and nothing happen.
ive been using my mac to unzip zip arhcive files ive downloaded from the internet and for the past few months ive had to troubles at all. but more recently my mac wouldnt actuallty zip the files. so i started using a free application in the app store called stuffit expander. but now even stuffit expander wont unzip my files. what is happening? the stuffit expander just says it is unable to recognize the file type which makes no sense, and when i use the default unzip application already on my mac it just turns the zip file into a file with the extension .cpgz

I've run into an unusual problem recently. I think it it related to two recent software installs. The problem only started after i installed the new application loader.
My issue : I'm unable to open application I downloaded from the web. I get the following error message below.
P.S I haven't tried rolling back the lastest softwarte installs yet. I'm hoping I can avoid that.

Safari 5.1.4 update downloaded into Lion 10.7.3 on a Mac mini earlier today. Won't launch. Creates a report saying it is 5.1.2."Reopen" just repeats a report (many sent from different accounts!)As far as I can see other apps still work including Adobe CS4 and Firefox.Cannot enter safe mode to try it there by using shift on reboot as suggested for Lion. Not sure what extensions I have for Safari but very few. Definitely Ghostery (wouldn't be without it).Have looked at "get info" and it is running (or, to be more precise, not running) in 64 bit mode. Tried 32 but that didn't work either so have restored to 64. I have run out of ideas, short of abandoning Safari and waiting for the next update.
I have a new macbook pro and was wondering where my lion osx is or if I have to go downlaod it? If i have to go downlaod it, what software did my computer come with then?
I downloaded latest version of iTunes but cannot run it. When I try to start iTunes it asks to 'restore /don't restore' windows then quits unexpectedly and I get an alert telling me iTunes quit....
I get a pop-up: This Item Cannot Be Downloaded on This Network You must connect to a Wi-Fi network or download it on your computer.yet I am on wi-fi using a macbook pro, trying to purchase a movie from iTunes to download onto my computer.Macbook Wi-fi to linksys to DSL to AT&T 3Mb service. I don't know if this is a hardware, OS, iTunes issue or other.
I just downloaded Lion. I open up my Firefox Browser and the display is not correct. I went to my Yahoo mail and the tool bar which always appears is not there and I can't see how to make it appear. All the buttons for deleteting, moving, trash. how to correct the view in Firefox and the Yahoo tool bar thats missing?
I just purchased a Macbook and immediately upgraded to Lion. As a result, my laptop now says that the startup disk is full...it's 95% full of "other." I don't have anything else on this computer yet beside Microsoft Office. How do I get my memory and storage back?
It has been months now. I click on "download" after hours it gets it is ready to install. I do install. Everythings seems ok. Then I go back to my purchases and there it is OS X Lion (Download)
