I seem to have a jpeg file which is locked and I cannot unlock it. I went to Get Info and I cannot uncheck the Locked box.Under Sharing and Permission it says "Fetching"Â

I have been a fairly happy OS X Lion and Mail 5.2 user for some time now. Gmail worked finde (IMAP) - have followed all instrucitons and recommendations.A few days ago, Mail stopped fetching mails from the gmail server.While this contines to work fine on my iPad (and obviously directly in gmail via Safari), it no loger seems to work on the iMac I have. Tried restarting, repairing disk permissions, running Captcha on gmail (via Safari).Â

I am taking a logo and trying to attach a hyperlink to it's web address.I created the letter in Pages and then copied it to mac email. Pages will only let me embed hyperlink into text.So I made a line "click here" next to the logo and linked it to that. It works fine but when emailing it the logos don't arrive on the receiving end. I see them in the email when I send it, but not the receiver.
View 3 Replies View RelatedWhen I edit a photograph in photoshop (cs3/cs4 etc, it doesn't matter which version) the preview of that image goes blurry after its saved. The image is the full res still and hasn't lost any quality but when I have the icons that are of a large size they appear really blurry and 'low-res'. I know its a small gripe but it makes things difficult as a photographer when I am trying to organize images that perhaps look similar or I want to see as a whole set.

I am having a problem when attempting to forward email messages in Mail. If the message has jpeg photos I can view, but when forwarding the jpeg is deleted and the message "missing plug-in" appears in its place. How or where to correct this problem and have not seen similar discussions posted.

I was wondering if there were any applications that would fetch album art for albums not currently in the iTunes Store (the album art is usually posted on [URL])? I had been using a tool called Fetch Art for several years, but it appears that the software no longer does anything, nor has it been in development since 2010, so I'm wondering what would be a better alternitive...?

How can I send a series of photos as jpeg attachments so they are displayed as individual jpeg filenames, just as with "doc" files? Some recipients have trouble in isolating individual photos when my Mac only sends them as pictures.

The last time I used Mail to manage my emails was in mid last year. Now, after a long time I plan to use it again but I seem to be running into problems. But before that let me give an idea of my setup: I have MacBook running Mac OS X 10.5.6, I have setup wifi over my isp's broadband connection. My router is Airlink101 Super G Wireless Router AR430W. I have MobileMe subscription. I setup Mail with my MobileMe and Gmail IDs over my wifi, both as IMAP accounts. Gmail is sluggish but received all my emails but MobileMe doesn't receive my emails at all. I want to assure you that I have set it up properly. I reported this problem to MobileMe chat support, they concluded that there was some problem with my network. They suggested me to port forward the following ports 25, 587, 143, 443 and 993. I tried that but still Mail was unable to fetch emails. I could send and receive emails via Safari i.e. web interface. I had setup security in my wifi, I disabled every thing by reseting the router and used the non-secure default setup. Still Mail doesn't fetch emails. I removed the wifi set up and connected to internet directly via ethernet. Now Mail works perfectly and fetches my emails at blazing speeds. Now the question is why doesn't Mail work in wifi setup. I need wifi setup by all means. I'd like to know what could be the problem?
View 7 Replies View RelatedThis is on a MacBook Air (mid-2011) using OS 10.9.4  and for the past 6 days the Mail program has stopped fetching new mail.  The messages come thru on my phone but I have to restart the computer, check the connection doctor, restart a few more times & then finally the mail will start coming through again on the computer. The log is consistently showing these errors:Â

Ever since installing Lion, my MBP has been very slow and I cannot make any admin changes. In any event where admin privileges are needed, I hit the padlock on the bottom left of the window. It asks for my password. I enter it and it accepts, but the padlock is still locked. . . My username is listed as "Admin" in the users list. I can't add another user because I cant unlock that privilege. I've verified and repaired disk permissions and verified disk with no errors. The installation of Lion was on a clean Hard drive, not an upgrade. Considering going back to SL at this point.Â

This is the third time I've had this problem. After an interruption in internet connection, the email for my Mail program hangs up on fetching 12 of xx, but always on 12. When this happens I can't quit out of Mail and have to use Force quit. I've tried letting it run for a whole day but it makes no progress. I've tried deleting the number 12 email from the server with no luck. How can I solve this please?

So I accidentally saved the wrong files to my start up disc. It appears that mac is seeking direction and isn't getting it. All I get is the white screen with the spinning ball. Things I've tried already, 1. (Shift Key) Booting in Safe-Mode. result is: Mac starts to enter safe mode, the little power meter starts to build on the screen, after about 20 seconds the meter stops and the fan speed increases until it gets pretty loud. Eventually the fan speed mellows out, but it never actually boots up. 2. (Option key) This gives me a choice of two drives to choose from, MAC HD & Mac Recovery. I've tried clicking on both drives multiple times by themselves with no luck. I've tried clicking on them seperately and then went right into safe mode with no luck. 3. I've even tried downloading a recovery file from apple and put it on a disc. result: It reads the disc and the goes back to that wonderful white screen and spinning ball.

I just got a new macbook pro, and when I popped my old secondary hard drive in, I notice that half of my mp3 files are now shown with a little lock next to them. I can manually un lock them one at a time, but I'm a professional DJ, and I have thousands of files. how to unlock an entire directory in one fell swoop? I didn't lock them to begin with, so this is aggravating.Â
I cannot save bpm or cue points to files while they're locked. My serato scratch live software will also not save overviews while they're locked.Â

After upgrading to an SSD, i was having problems with restoring files from Timemachine. i fiexed that by naming my ssd drive the same as the drive that was backedup using time machine. now, i can't seem to edite any of the files restored in Documents from the backup. not can i edit or add content inside the folders withing documents. i dont know whats going on. they appear lock and there is no way to unlock them. it says i will need to duplicate the items!Â

Awhile back I installed a wonderfully speedy SSD in my mid-2009 MBP. I used Time Machine to "restore" my stuff. I thought it odd that after that, song files would come up as "locked"...after awhile I realized that EVERY song file in the iTunes Library was now "locked". The FOLDERS are NOT locked, but all the mp3 files within each folder ARE locked.Â
I know, of course, that "command-i" and uncheck the locked box works on each individual file, but how do I do this on the entire library? Is that even possible? The tedium of opening every single folder and unlocking every file individually would be insane. Is there any way to select the iTunes Music folder and have all the files in all subfolders "unlocked" at once?

i accidentally set permissions in the Mac HD Info window for Everyone to "No Access". of course it locked up. i have an external drive plugged in running Time Machine. i understand i can use that to restore...?
I ran disk utility - it failed because it could not locate the clip art folder in word (?wha?) repair disk permissions ran for 24 hours and couldn't complete. anyway - I know there is an easy solution here - i just want to be sure i'm doing it correctly so i dont make it worse than it already is...would some kind soul please provide me step-by-step instructions to either use Time Machine to repair - or something.
