I only update my web site a few times a year, and since the last time I bought a new computer and have a newer version of iweb. When I try to update my web site (on mobileme), it builds all of the pages and then gives an unknown error and fails. I also can't use the file menu/visit site, which indicates to me that it doesn't recognize my domain as the same site.
I tried the new version (or what is supposed to be the new version of Safari for Tiger, but it loads as Safari 4.1 Tiger, and will not install because it says there is a newer version installed already. What is Apple doing? Did they simply rename version 4.1 as 4.1.2 and expect it to install?
Im trying to update my ITunes on my MAC (laptop) to the newer version so I can then be able to update the latest updates for my Iphone-3G. I don’t require a complete reinstall just need to be able to update my itunes. Â
What I have tried so far is I had my MAC search for update’s and it said that I should update to (ITunes version 10 . 6 . 3 ) So I asked it to do the update but after 2hrs of waiting for it to download/update it then puts up a message saying the following- (In order to continue installation, please close the following application: ITunes). Â
When I tried to do this another message comes up that says- (The update ITunes can’t be installed. The following install step failed: run preupgrade script for Apple mobile device support. Contact the software manufacturer for assistance.) Â
I have also tried to run the update while having closed ITunes before I even start the update but the same problem happens after waiting about 2hrs.
Some one that had the same problem said this might be happening in the older operating systems. But that does not make sense because surely Apple want customers who own a MAC and i-phone to still buy from iTunes.
My MAC is about 4-5years old. I have a i-phone.3G, Â
I'm operating on a MacBook Air that i recently updated to OS X 10.9.2. Along with the update, Java 7 was installed. I need to have Java 6 Update 20 installed to use some programs on this computer for work. I've gotten the files to install that update, but when I attempt to do so I receive a message stating that I cannot install on my disk. A newer version is already installed.Â
I've gone into finder > Go to Folder and deleted the Java folder after uninstalling java in the first place. This has not fixed my issue.
In my app store on version 10.6.8 Mac OS XÂ I am trying to get apps but when I click 'install' it says I need Mac OS X 10.7.2 and I tried to update it in the apple symbol drop down box but it said all my software updates are up to date.
Which version of Image Capture should be in Snow Leopard Mac OS-X 10.6.8 When my wife attempts to run Image Capture 3.0.3 on her system (her Imac cannot be upgraded to Lion unfortunately) is unable to run. The error message is: You cannot use this version of the application Image Capture with this version of Mac OS-X.Â
I have an important database created on my Mac using an old version of Filemaker II. (Version 1.1v2 1989) Since I have gone to OSX, the old program will not work on my newer Intel Mac. I am trying to find out how to convert the old files to a newer version of FileMaker that will allow me to read and add to the file.
I have a version 6.0 and 9.0 of Filemaker Pro, but neither will allow me to read the old database. Might have to step up from version to version and convert. We are at wits end and desperately need some expert help! Can anyone tell me how to do this. Files are a listing of 20+ years of articles and photos connected with a small magazine my wife and I publish.
I still have my older Mac OsXv10.4 Tiger software. I wasn't exactly happy with Safari browser as it would block many sites and were considered incompatible so I downloaded the free Firefox browser (the 2.0 version) of which I still have. I'm aware that there is a much newer version and would like to download that, but I've heard a lot of people saying they have been having severe problems with it, but then they have PCs and not Macs. So my question is for you Mac users that use Firefox, have you had major problems with the newer version? I'm real hesitant to download if I'm going to have the same problem PC users are having...like constantly crashing. Also would my old Tiger software be compatible? I don't want to upgrade to Leopard.
I've been a Mac user for a few years now, and really love the apps on the Mac, and 99% of the time, never need anything thats on Windows. However, the time has come that I need to open a windows app via Darwin. Its asking me to install x11.app - which I've tried to do, but when I download it, it says there is already a newer version installed. I've never heard of, let alone installed x11.app before, so this confused me a little.
I've come onto these forums, and had a little search, to which I found out that you need to do something with the original OS disks to install x11.app via the install disk. I no longer have the install disks - I moved house 6 months ago, and had 3 boxes lost in transit, (Including my PS3, nearly 50 games a DVD player and all CD's / DVD's ) - and have never recovered them.
Is there any other way I can get this app to install?
I have QB 4 for Mac and works just fine. Does anyone know how to move date to a newer version of QB for a PC? I used to be able to back-up data to a QB for PC (2001 version) but I am no longer able to accomplish this. QB tech support is of "0" help.
I accidently deleted Safari and now I can't reinstall because it keeps telling me there is a newer version on my computer. The issue is my system does not support the newer version.
Looking for some advice as to how to find my iTunes library as I just installed iLife 08 with iTunes in the package but when I click on iTunes to load it up it comes back with this message "The file iTunes Library cannot be read because it was created with by a newer version of iTunes". Don't understand this. Now when I go into iDVD to create a new DVD and click on 'audio' I can see my old list of iTunes.
Anyone know how I could go about finding this and bringing this into the new iTunes 8 which was loaded with iLife 8. I'm almost 70 years old and not quite up to speed you might say. My problem re this is a lot of the library songs which were on iLIfe 6 version of iTunes belong to my daughter who does not have the internet so she comes over and uses mine for her iTunes downloads.

... long time reader, first time poster!! So I'm doing it. I'm switching from PC to Mac. I've been waiting for a while now and the new MacBook Pro's have convinced me. I'm buying the 13 inch this week.
However I'm slightly worried about the upgrade to Snow Leopard in September.
My question is if I buy a new MacBook Pro this week and upgrade from the current version of Leopard to Snow Leopard will it be the EXACT same as the version of Snow Leopard that ships with new MacBooks after September?
Is the upgrade just the same as the full software version available post September? Does the upgrade it just detect if you have the previous software and installs as if it were the full? Or does it just "patch" things depending on what's different from previous versions?
I can wait till after Snow Leopard is released in September 09 if it is different to Leopard upgraded to Snow Leopard.
Anyone have any idea of a feature that was originally going to be in Boot Camp, allowing it to switch very quickly between a hibernated version of Windows and a sleeping version of Leopard, is gonna be back for Snow Leopard?
Apparently the feature was dropped before the final version...
This would've been awesome, would love to see it back...
I have the the older black macbook. I am currently running Mac OS X version 10.5.8 and I was wondering if it would be poosible to update to the newest OS X.
Today I performed a clean install of Snow Leopard on my late 2009 Mac Mini. After completing the installation, I began running software update to bring everything up-to-date.While software update did find and install a number of updates (10.6.8v1.1 Combo update, Security Update 2012-002, Apple Software Installer Update, iLife Support 9.0.4, Remote Desktop Client Update 3.5.3, Airport Utility, Java, Safari) it did not find an update for iTunes (which starts at version 9.x, I believe, in a SL clean install).I assumed that this was some sort of random glitch and manually downloaded and installed iTunes 10.6.3.After that, I re-installed iLife '11 (from a retail DVD, not the App Store). When I ran Software Update again, it found updates for Garage Band, iDVD, and iWeb, but it did not show the updates for iPhoto and iMovie.I found this to be unnerving, as I performed a clean install when I first obtained this Mini a few months ago and didn't experience any of these problems - all of my Apple software updated automatically through Software Update without a hitch.
I began researching this problem online and found that other people have been experiencing this same problem (or some variation of it), and it seems like it began appearing around the time Apple updated some of its security certificates in March. In particular, I've found several references to the missing iPhoto update. This one is especially noticeable because an iPhoto library created in iPhoto 9.2.3 will not open in iPhoto 9.0, and this generates an error upon opening the program (i.e., a user backs up their iPhoto library created in 9.2.3, performs a SL clean install, reinstalls iLife, goes through the Software Update process until it shows that no more updates are available, and are shocked to find that they are unable to open their backed up iPhoto library because they have an out of date version of iPhoto). The most common (and admittedly logical) solution proposed in the threads I've read is to download any necessary updates directly from the Apple website. However, I am curious as to why this previously functional feature now appears to be broken.Has anyone else been struggling with this? Does it indeed have something to do with the new security certificates? Is Apple aware of the problem?
I recently received a copy of the latest build of Snow Leopard (10A354 i believe). Now when i upgraded the first time GeekTool was working fine. Then i was working on changing the MenuBar to black and the whole system just crashed on me. I had to do a complete reinstall of regular Leopard and then upgrade again to Snow Leopard. Last night was rough. Sooo im not going to try that again for a little while.
I want to have both options of doing a Clean Install or an Upgrade of leopard to snow leopard.Which DVD on Amazon should I buy?Can you point me to a link/info ? And I also bought my macbook pro in late june 2009.
I have a Mac OS X Snow Leopard version and my fan keeps coming on. I have been away for a week so it has not been used and yet when I started it up the fan started straight away. Is there anything I can do?
