OS X V10.4 :: Why Does Install Disc Eject Instead Of Mount

Feb 11, 2012

My G4 tower has needed occasional disc utility repairs but this time there's something strange. The disc won't mount, instead after the normal time for the disc to mount, the disc is ejected.  I've restarted the computer while the disc was being read, and held down the "c" key, and the computer ends up with a question mark folder flashing on the screen. I can put the disc into my G4 laptop and read it fine.  It also looks to have no marks or scratches.  The G4 tower can read other discs including the OS9 install and repair disc.  There is OS9 installed in the tower and not on the laptop.

Info:
G4 Quicksilver Tower, Mac OS 9.2.x, MOTU PCI interface card installed.

Windows On Mac :: Multi Disc Install - Eject Button Not Work

Oct 18, 2009

I would like to install a game for windows on my recently new iMac. And I know how to boot windows and everything from experience with my macbook, but my problem is basically this; When I try to install multi-disc games on the windows OS, whenever I get to the point where I am supposed to "insert disc 2" the eject button on my keyboard will not work, is there any workaround for this, I am running XP... (and leopard on my iMac).

Windows On Mac :: Full Install Leopard / SL Disc To Run Bootcamp / Update Disc?

Oct 13, 2009

Please take pity on a confused newbie. I'm running 10.4.11 (Tiger) on a 2 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo 13" Macbook with 1GB ram. My school requires me to run Bootcamp to take my exams. They told us that we need 10.5 minimum OS and must have our 'original system discs'. The installation dics that I have are for Tiger. If I buy an upgrade disc to Leopard/SL, will that contain the windows drivers I need to install after I install bootcamp? Or do I need to buy a full installation disc of Snow Leopard (since I think you can't buy the Leopard full installation anymore)? Another issue someone mentioned is that both Leopard & SL require 1BG ram minimum, which is what I have. I'm worried the os will run very slow, but I don't really have the money to buy new ram and get it install (and don't want to crack the fragile top case) now that I have to buy the new software too.

MacBook Air :: Ripping Leopard Install Disc Via Remote Disc

Jun 2, 2008

Well, my question is very simple: I have a MBA and this other laptop from work, a crappy HP which is old as hell. I'm planning to use Remote Disc to reinstall my Leopard, since the upgrade to 10.5.3 really screwed things here, and I can't figure out why. Point is: instead of running all Leopard installation thru Remote Disc, I would prefer to share Leopard disc 1 over Remote Disc and restore it to a partition on my external HD, making a clone of it, which would install *much* faster. Has anyone tried anything like this? There's any Windows program which allows me to rip a Mac DVD to a Mac partition?

MacBook Pro :: Install Snow Leopard But It Can't Install And Eject

Sep 4, 2014

I tried to install Snow Leopard on my MacBookPro but it cannot install and cannot be ejected. I need to eject.

The reason for this is a long story. My logic board was replaced and my Mac was wiped clean. I am not trying to recover from back up but could not figure out the next step after the recovery finished. So I tried to install OSX from the disk that came with my Mac. Probably not the right corrective action.

I need to remove the Snow Leopard DVD and finish my recovery.

IMac :: Install New Hard Drive But Missing Leopard Install Disc

Jan 30, 2010

I'm using a iMac PowerPC G5 that I've received from my brother. He gave it to me with a fresh install of Leopard on it, but he unfortunately no longer has the disc that came with the computer that he also used to format it before handing it to me. With that said, I ordered a new internal hard drive. Naturally, I'll need to re-install Leopard, but I don't have an install disc anywhere. How is this going to be possible? Or will it not be? Do I have to buy a new Leopard install disc? If so where and how much?

OS X V10.6 Snow Leopard :: Is It Install DVD Supposed To Auto-eject During Installation

May 8, 2012

I just recently purchased Snow Leopard and everything seemed to be going well. The installer popped up after I put it into my External DVD Drive and the installation was going smoothly but soon my MBP would restart and the installation would continue. The problem is that at around 35% completion, or in my case 32 minutes left, the disc would come out of the drive and any attempts to put it back in would result in the DVD drive promptly spitting the disc back out.

I don't think it's the MBP that is at fault since I would have received an error message or something of the like. My only guess is that either the Installation DVD is faulty or the External DVD Drive is causing the issue. I'm leaning towards the DVD Drive especially since it suddenly stopped reading the disc entirely while I'm typing this. I'm using an AmazonBasics USB 2.0 8x DVD Writer External Optical Drive which should be fully compatible with Macs.

Mac Pro :: Install Leopard Install Disc For MacBook Pro?

May 23, 2008

I'm new to Mac. I feel I have been suitably rehabilitated from my former ways. I bought a MacBook Pro. It came with an installation disc for Leopard. I'm not sure if it's an image or if it's the OS install DVD. I bought a Mac Pro, quad Xeon 64 bit monster. The guy I bought it from had to retain the HDD for legal reasons. So, I bought a couple of drives that I'll slot in. Question: Can I use the install disc from my MacBook Pro to install Leopard on my Mac Pro?

Apr 10, 2012

I bought my mac a few years ago, and i recently swiped it and wiped it clean again, to make it faster, which it has. When i was installing the CD's, the install dic 1 was fine, but when it said to insert disc 2 to continue the installation my mac wasn't reading it. Therefore i just did not install it. Yesterday i downloaded the disc 2 online, but i wanted to know what the contents were of disc 2?

I've just ordered a Mac Pro and have been thinking of inserting a SSD-disc to install Leopard and some often used programs. Have anyone tried this? I got a suggestion to just buy a (much cheaper) 10k-rpm disc instead, which is a viable option, but I'm really interested in this "new" ssd-stuff I know, it ain't that new, but it's almost affordable now...So, have anyone tried this and did you see a rise in performance?

OS X :: Windows Support On Leopard Install Disc?

Dec 20, 2009

Could anyone tell me how to access or view the Windows support (boot camp) files on the Leopard installation disc, whilst in leopard. That is when you put the leopard install disc in the mac it shows you the leopard stucture or thereabouts, but I want to know what programs that are available for the mac. That will let me see whether or not there is Windows support also on the install DVD. I know the easy option is to boot up into windows & put the install dvd in & wait to see if it boots up. That isn't an option at the minute.

MacBook Pro :: Cannot Boot From Leopard Install Disc

I have a uMBP 2.26GHz with 4GB and 500GB HDD. I usually do the Disk Utility every once in a while and it recommended me to use the MAC OS X disk and repair the disk. I inserted the disk, restarted and held "C" and the disc was running and everything. Like 1 minute later my display went black but I can still hear the disc running. But that's all it happens. Everything runs but my display went black. This is a 3month old uMBP. This is the log from the Disk Utility

Mac Pro :: Older 8800GT Won't Boot From Leopard Install Disc

Oct 15, 2008

So i have a mac Pro octo from May 2007. I upgraded to the 8800GT when they came out and not have any problems since. Today I encountered some problems with my hard drive and am trying to boot from either my Mac Pro Install disc or my Leopard Install disc and get an error everytime. When I try and boot from the disc it gives me an error and tells me i need to reboot. I have found out through the apple discussion forums that Leopard Discs before 10.5.2 do not have the drivers for the 8800GT, and therefore will not let you boot. What am I to do here. Is there any way I can get a newer leopard install disc? It seems I am going to have to reinstall an Ati X1900 to get my own install discs to work. This is really annoying to me, this is an awful design flaw. How do they expect you to upgrade your mac pro and not have problems like this.

OS X :: Install Snow Leopard From Dead Finder Disc

Jul 29, 2010

After getting the message that Finder had an error -10801 (or something similar, i can't remember...) I forced my macbook pro to shut down. Afterwards I can log-in but non of the finder windows appear on the desktop. Also I cannot open any other application or shut down the Computer. when I put in my Leopard Install disc and turn on the Computer holding down the C I only get a grey screen. I have done that for 10 minutes. When I do the same with Snow Leopard "CPU Drop-in DVD" I get a menu: 'Choosing language' and then MAC OS X Installer asks 'To set up the installation of Snow Leopard, click continue". However, I am afraid of doing that if it erases all my documents. I have the possibility of choosing a UTILITY menu, but down know what to do with this (e.g. Go to Disk Utility or Terminal). Does anyone have a clue of how to help the Danish student?
