IMac :: New 10.6.3 Snow Leopard Update Fixes ISight Dead / Stuck Pixels
Mar 29, 2010I just confirmed it myself. I had a myriad of colorful "blobs" all over my iSight. I only noticed them really when I put my hand over the iSight so the image was BLACK. But, like the patch notes said, this update fixes them! They are ALL GONE. So for people complaining about stuck/dead pixels etc with your iSight, update to 10.6.3! I'm guessing the update maps them out, somehow. Very cool stuff.

Sep 4, 2009After updating, seems that my iSight camera no longer functions. In iChat, the user on the other end had no video from me, nor did I have a preview. In Photo Booth I get nothing but a black screen. The green LED indicator still functions as if the camera was on, but no image at all. I tried zapping the PRAM and resetting the SMU or PMU as well, but with no luck. It acts as if it's functioning properly with the light activating and system profiler recognizes the iSight cam in USB devices.

Jul 11, 2009Is there something about the hardware on this iMac that will not let SL run in full 64 bit glory? It loads 64 bit kernel, but did that in Leopard as well. SL loads the 64 bit kernel but not the rest of it... of course holding the 6 and 4 keys results in no joy. So now I suspect it is not just the CPU that must be a 64 bit ready chip but the rest of the hardware must be like wise optimized.

IMac :: OSX Start Up - Blue Screen Takes Forever
Dec 16, 2010-Got the iMac refurbished in mid-2010 (2009 iMac i5)
-Originally planned on mainly using Windows, so I partitioned the drive to 750gb for Windows and the rest for OSX
I eventually got fed-up with certain things about both Windows and certain limitations/glitches within Bootcamp itself and decided it was time to go OSX, and use the machine properly in all it's Apple glory.
I removed the 750gb of the Windows 7 partition, restoring the whole thing back to OSX. At this point, my computer seemed to be working fine still- OSX would boot up in about a minute or so, nothing that seemed out of the ordinary. After that, I still wanted a small partition with Windows 7; so I partitioned 100gb of my drive and proceeded to install Windows 7. During the Windows 7 installation, as had happened the first time I installed Windows 7 with Boot Camp, I got the "Black Screen" issue. IMac (Intel) :: Keeps Restarting / Finder Takes Forever To Display Files
Jun 26, 2014my work computer (Windows), but my 2012 iMac that I've had for 2 years has worked flawlessly up until recently. A few days ago it started taking forever to display files in finder. I had to keep relaunching, and it would freeze. I tried the workaround that was posted here but that didn't work either. It went away for a few days, but last night it really came back with a vengeance. The relaunch finder trick only showed the current folder, while navigating to other folders would simply show the loading icon forever.
Also, my iMac was shutdown for over an entire day yesterday, and when I turned it on the " Your computer restarted because of a problem". came up. I've never experienced this problem before, but after 3-4 tries it finally logged in to the Home screen. This is when I noticed the above (finder problems) returning from a few days ago after being absent. The finder issues continued, so I restarted the mac, and it just kept cycling over and over (reboot, try to load, auto-reboot, etc.).
Is this an issue with the HDD? I did a disk utility check the other day and it said everything was in great shape.

Sep 1, 2014I have a 20inch early 2009 iMac running OS X 10.9.4.
I have been having crippling WiFi problems were I am forced to reload webpages 20-30 times before the page loads fully. I have tried many things and even upgraded the RAM to 8gb, and I still have the same problem. I have also tried resseting the WiFi, router, and iMac and it seems my problem is more complicated than that. I have run a test too and I had no lost packets. The strange thing is after a webpage not loading, if I refresh the page 20-30 times it finally loads!

IMac :: Using Gradient With IMac ISight Intel 2006?
May 8, 2009Recently my iMac had been experiencing problems, I took apart and checked everything and put back together. Problems were gone but the screen suddenly started gradienting from brighter on the top to darker on the bottom. Brightness overall is also lower now.
My question is what can be creating this? The black tape that was around was ripped, I've heard it's creating static isolation, can that be it? Also I possibly pulled power cord too hard, can it be possible that display is not getting enough power?

Sep 25, 2009If you think Snow Leopard needs an update to fix all all these problems post something here. My biggest problem is that my imac won't wake up and I am forced to shut it down by holding the power button, it happens about once every two days and it is quite annoying. Also (I don't know if this happened before or not) the apple symbol in the menu bar changes every two seconds, not a big deal but just weird.

May 8, 2012It seems that prior updates worked. However, when I update to 10.6.8 my system will freeze. The only that that moves is my cursor.I can be on the web, scrolling. It will happem when new email is being down loaded. I can be working on th PC side and will experence it. I ran the "Disk" repair. But even after the run is done the system will work for a short while and the freeze. Now I can reinstall 10.5 "Snow Lepoard" and not update to the latest "Package" update and all works well. So the main question is "What gives?". Its very troublesome. Is there any soulition to this?

Whenever I install the update and restart my computer, I get the apple logo loading screen and then it locks up on the infamous blank gray screen. I have been able to get back to 10.6 with the install CD, and can then update all the way to 10.6.7 I have tried everything listed here:[URL]To no avail . including a clean install When I start up in verbose mode the last line of text I get is the following, after this it's the gray screen:

Sep 6, 2009Even though my MacBook has a built-in iSight, I still use my old external FireWire iSight since I run my MacBook in clamshell mode, and my external monitor doesn't have a built-in webcam. All in all, I love it - it works well, looks good, and I use a nifty gooseneck stand with it that can be repositioned just about anywhere. It was perfect for my needs, and I was never interested in changing webcams. However, after upgrading to 10.6, my external iSight no longer works. I have no idea how to fix this. I know they're old, but has anyone heard whether or not Apple was making them obsolete?

My external iSight (firewire) has stopped working, its been ages since it worked i think about 2 updates ago. But I have lived with out it.
I now want to use it again.
I cannot find any drivers to get the thing working with Leopard. I am assuming its a leopard thing.
If i can not use the iSight Cam with my iMac does anyone know if any other external cam works with leopard?
Since my iMac is still in good condition and runs very well and fast I dont want to upgrade it just because it does not have the inbuilt cam.
