OS X :: Unable To Sync To Google In Address Book
Jan 12, 2009I'm reading online that the 10.5.3 update added a 'synchronize to google' option in Address Book
Did 10.5.6 take this option away ? I do not have it.

With Leopard and Snow Leopard I could sync my Address Book with Google Contacts (in google apps). Now with Lion I can't find a way to sync those contacts. I have an iCloud acount for my personal contacst but our company uses Google Apps for sharing the contacts

I am having a issue with Address Book where I enter my Google login info, it seems to connect just fine, but when I close out of preferences and then the app and relaunch it will no longer be connected. The checkmark box for Google syncing becomes unchecked and everything. It was working fine for a while but I recently opened a new Gmail account and have wanted to sync with that one instead. For some reason now neither of the accounts will stay connected.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI would like to use google's exchange sync tool for my address book and calendar. My concern is that just turning on the exchange sync will completely mess up my address book. What is the best way to begin syncing the address book through google exchange while avoiding address book chaos?
View 1 Replies View RelatedAs I do not have any AT&T service and I am stuck on "The Big Red" I am more than likely going to make the jump to the Android bandwagon. So, in preparation I am attempting to set up my Address Book to sync with my Google Contacts and I am not having any luck. I am running Snow Leopard with full updates. I go into the Address Book preferences and check "Synchronize With Google" and enter in my information. And...nothing happens. I found a thread saying you can force sync by clicking on the sync arrows at the top of the screen and going to sync now. This managed to sync about half of my contacts on the first try. I then tried a second time and it synced another quarter of my contacts, leaving about 30 to go. For the contacts it did sync, this system worked perfectly.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have set up my Mac Address Book to sync with my Google Contacts. I have created some groups in my Google Contacts and I have created some groups in my Mac Address Book. These groups are not identical. After a period of time shouldn't they be?? What should happen in such a situation? How is the best way to manage Contact groups? I have an iPhone, and was looking at apps to create contact groups on it, but held back as I seem to be in a mess with my Mac and Google syncing, without adding to the confusion.

Does it only work with Gmail?
I've been having a problem trying to Synch my Address Book with Google. At some point in the past it worked but it doesnt anymore.Â
I have tried "rebuilding it" by cleaning up the ~/Library/Application Support/AddressBook/
I have tried cleaning up the ~/Library/Caches and /Library/Caches I have tried cleaning the /Library/Preferences/com.apple.AddressBook.*Â
Nothing has worked.Â
I can export the Google Contacts in Vcard and Import fully.Â

Cannot sync address book. There is phantom data preventing the sync program from gathering information from the address book.
View 1 Replies View RelatedIs this possible? I've created some contacts in Adress Book on my Mac (yes, under the "iCLoud" header), and they don't show on the iCloud website. If it's a one-way path from iCloud to Adress Book, then I guess that for anyone using iCloud for contacts, it renders Adress Book useless, doesn't it?Â
Btw, somehow the newly created contacts just vanished, so unless you good people provide me with a solution, I just won't use Adress Book again, because that was at least 30 minutes of my life straight to the trash bin.

How to get my iPhone contacts into Address Book again?

Am I the only MobileMe user that suffers from the issue of not being able to sync my address book with MobileMe contacts? I have an 18month old 24" iMac and a 12month old MacBook Pro. As suggested, I synced everything prior to MobileMe going live. When MobileMe kicked off I tried to sync everything up. I constantly had problems with contacts, being told to check that the data on my computer was valid and then re-syncing. I tried all the suggested articles from MobileMe Support but none helped. I became very frustrated with the whole thing and decided to re-install Leopard on my MacBook Pro. After installation I installed all the software updates and then atempted to sync with MobileMe.
With a fresh OS X installation I selected the option to "replace all data on my mac" - YET AGAIN I WAS GREETED WITH THE SAME MESSAGE: "Contacts could not be synced due to inconsistent data." It doesn't make sense. I have an iPhone which syncs pretty well with my contacts held on the MobileMe servers. I'm able to make changes on my iPhone that are reflected on MobileMe and vice versa, so why the problem syncing conacts with my Macs? What's the craic Apple, why can't you boys and girls in Cupertino clean up this mess? There's a lot of unhappy MobileMe users out here with renewals pending...
Has anyone got Address Book/iSync working with Exchange 2003? I've followed all of Apple's steps to enable Address Book's synchronization with Exchange, and I manually force iSync to sync with Exchange.
I used to get an "iSync couldn't connect to Exchange" error, but after resetting iSync's history, now I get no error message. In my exchange server's log, I do see the entry:
2007-05-04 03:11:15 W3SVC1 10.0.0.3 HEAD /exchange/me/Contacts - 80 DOMAINme 10.0.0.19 CFNetwork/129.20 302 0 64
so it's obviously connecting to exchange, but does not populate the address book. It's pissing me off and some blog entry with a workaround at [URL] makes absolutely no sense (and only works on Panther according to the comments.. I'm running OS X Tiger).
Edit: I should also note I've tried the following:
1. Disabled SSL and tried syncing - no dice
2. Tried syncing with my OWA server at work - still no dice
I currently have data in both Entourage and Apple Address book. I am wanting to migrate over to Entourage and was going to sync the two programs to accomplish this. However before I do that, I need to understand how the data transfers. Does data from Apple Address Book overwrite data in Entourage? Is it added? Does the Entourage data overwrite the Apple Address book data? Does anyone know or know where I can get this information?

Mountain Lion won't run on my Intel-graphics dual core white MacBook. Lion should run, but I've been disappointed with Lion and it is now end-of-life (mercifully short). So I've a perfectly fine and responsive Snow Leopard machine. Only problem -- when MobileMe dies in June Address Book on that device won't sync with our iPhone [1].Â
I know Apple doesn't allow 3rd parties to sync anything to iCloud. So there's no solution that way. One approach is to use a 3rd party app to sync Address Book on this machine with Address Book on another machine that in turn syncs with iCloud.Â
The easier approach is to go all Google; sync Address Book to Google, set the iPhone to use a Google Apps account. (Ironic that Apple's obsoleting a solid MacBook should drive us to Google.)Â [1] For various reasons the iPhone syncs to another machine with our family app/media library. So I can't sync Address Book via iTunes.
