View 1 RepliesI have rented two movies, but either the selection of movies is tiny, or I am looking in the wrong place. I thought all the studios were on board and that thousands of movies would be available. I saw a few, and unless I was lookin in the wrong place, I wasn't too impressed by the selection.
I do think this would be a good idea. I'd rather rent a TV episode - watch it once - and then have it go - as opposed to a movie. Do you think there's any way Apple would, and could, ever implement this?
View 1 Replies View RelatedHow do I find HD movie rentals on itunes? I can't find them not on Apple TV. Do they exist?
View 4 Replies View Relatedbought a TV show and rented a couple of movies in iTunes to watch during flight on my macbook air like at least 30 times before. However, every time I click on play I get the following "this movie can be played only on displays that support HDCP." i am livid. What is going on? My rental 24 hour limit kicked in without me being able to watch a single microsecond of the movie. This is not the first time that I have difficulties getting something what I paid for in Itunes. This is very delicate for a company that prides itself of being high-quality.

I read that it's only possible to rent HD in Apple TV, but what form of HD is the rental? Does it support 1080p? If so, how long does it take to download and prepare of movie of this sort?
View 24 Replies View RelatedCan they be played this way? We know that Front Row can access iTunes because it shows the Top 10 Movies in the Movies Section, but when I rented a movie last night, it didn't show up there. Is something wrong? If not, why hasn't Apple came out with a fix for it.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI just finished a survey on iTunes usage by the NPD Group, and on one the selections it told me if I had rented a TV episode or season? I took a screenshot just in case. See the last two selections. This could be a part of a plan to take people away from Netflix because they too have TV seasons for rent.

I rented a movie on iTunes on my MacBook. Can I watch it on my iPad or apple tv or is it limited to the device it was rented on?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI was watching a movie that I rented on iTunes and it froze halfway through so I closed iTunes and forced quit it but when I opened it again my rented movie didn't even show up (this was within the 24 hour rental period, it's only been 4 hours so far). Is apple allowed to do this or is there something wrong with my account?

When importing songs into iTunes, the software by default is set to copy the music files to the iTunes media folder and convert them to .m4a format. This, of course, results in having two copies of each song after the import is done. Before I disable this option I'd like to know what you think are the pros and cons of having this option enabled/disabled.
View 5 Replies View RelatedLast night I decided to update to iTunes 9.1.1, via the software update prompt. It prompted me to restart my computer (laptop, Windows Vista). I proceeded to do so, but it got hung up in the log off screen for over 15 minutes. I turned off the computer and came back into the desktop. Tried to load iTunes, but it wouldn't load anymore. Tried to reinstall the software update, but now it's searching for a .msi file that I have no idea about? Anyone have any input as how I can resolve this, and have I lost all of my music in iTunes at this point?

I recently upgraded my system HDD to an SSD with a new install of OSX 10.6.4 and mimicked the settings I had on my previous set up to replicate it. however, when for example I was using iTunes to play music the screen saver would come on and a short time later the system would pause iTunes and goes into Sleep mode.
my previous install never did that so I'm not sure if its because of the SSD and it not being mechanical it doesnt recognize it accessing or seeking 'per se' because regardless of unchecking "Put hard disks to sleep when possible" it still does it. here is an image of energy saver settings; btw I had the system plugged into and still went into sleep mode when iTunes was playing and even other media formats such as Video in iTunes or VLC.
I just updated my iTunes but it appears it deleted my library. This sucks because I have spent HOURS upon HOURS sorting it, renaming crooked song titles, finding covers and all that stuff. I used time machine to back up my computer like 5 days ago, but I can't figure out how to use it. I wish I could just select that given day (when I made my last backup) and make it turn everything back to what it was back then. How do I do this exactly? I don't care at all if I have to go back to the old iTunes (obviously they will fix this eventually!) - I just want it to look like it did a few days ago.

View 24 Replies View RelatedI am a new mac user (total convert--am on my second iMac in a month and am about to buy a macbook), and am having trouble with my itunes service. My first 24" iMac developed a clicking HDD, so I was lucky enough to be able to bring it back to the shop for a replacement iMac. I made a time machine backup of the first Mac and copied directly to the second one (which was flawless....how come I haven't been using macs prior to now? I've lost dozens of backups on PC). The only issue I've had is with iTunes--I keep getting an error that the iTunes library is newer than the version of iTunes on the computer. Is there anyway to fix this without losing my entire library of songs? I did make up a physical copy of the iTunes folder on my first Mac, just in case, so I assume that I could delete iTunes and reinstall a fresh copy, update it, and then copy the iTunes folder over to the new version. But this is a Windows approach to the issue and there is probably a simpler way of fixing this. Alternately, I could do the same but sync my iPod and copy everything to my library that way.
View 5 Replies View RelatedIve just installed Windows 7 via Bootcamp on a MacBook. When I go into 'Computer' in Windows, I can see my Macintosh HD drive and most of its contents, some pics and other folders etc are all viewable and draggable into Windows. What im thinking now is, can I setup iTunes or even Media Player to see my iTunes library on the Mac side without actually copying it to Windows?
Ive been searching for the Library whilst in Windows but cant find it.
I need space on my computer - video files take up most space and I have a bunch of music videos in my iTunes library. My question is -
If I upgrade to iTunes Match - would that mean I can then delete files on my computer in my iTunes library and still access them later?
I transferred all my itunes library to an external hard drive.I had all my songs in itunes and then went to "preferences" and set itunes to look on my external hard drive for my itunes. Then I went to "library" and then "consolidate", and it moved all my library over to my external. I can verify that my songs are all there on my externalHowever, now, itunes won't play any songs of mine. I double click on the song in itunes and it just wont play. There's no error message, there's no exclamation point, it just won't play. Any idea what is goign on? Preferences still shows that my library is directing to the external
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a batch of HD video downloads in my iTunes Store queue that I can't delete. Before it was annoying, having to purchase both the regular video and HD video, then delete the unwanted HD download from my queue list, but now it's a problem. I can't empty the unwanted HD downloads, and for me to download them all will tie up my connection for a week or more.
I do not have the bandwidth
From a certain moment now i could not surf on some web sites as Facebook (really long to open, then html text on the left,[URL]etc) also when i want to update my apps on iTunes, he sais cannot connect to iTunes store, weired. I have an iBook G4 that runs on OS X. Today, my software update box popped up, and I downloaded the new version of itunes. It worked. Then the other update didn't finish. I'm not sure if that's connected. Now, my itunes won't open. When I first tried, nothing would happen. So I restarted the computer, but it wouldn't full restart (stuck on the box with an apple, acting like it was starting up but never did). So I did an archive install with my discs. That worked. But now when I try to open itunes, a box pops up and says that "you cannot use this application with this version of OS X." What?? I feel tricked and panicky. What can I do?

I loved the Genius Recommendation Panel on iTunes 9 and found lots of new songs and artists when using itI cannot believe Apple removed it from iTunes 10 and replaced it with a social networking site with the awful title "Ping"
So I replaced iTunes 9 last night, only to find that it wouldn't accept my iTunes library. I managed to reload the songs, but I have lost all my playlists, star ratings, play counts, etc. Its all gone.
