View 7 RepliesI recently got a new macbook pro and with it came my .Mac account. It seems it continuously wont accept my password or my birthdate to retrieve my information since I first got my computer started. It has the option to send it to my .mac e-mail but I can't check it without the password. None of my mac os programs will start without it, and leapard wont install fully without it. I've e-mailed the help desk and they never got back to me. Has anyone else ever had this happen? I've ran out of options, would uninstalling mac os and reinstalling help at all? Or am I just screwed?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI seek recommendations please for a password storage site. I just am not able to remember passwords any longer. I definitely don't want to use only one password for all sites and generally couldn't any way due to different password criteria for different sites. [URL] & security lists a site called 1 Password Password Manager and Form Filler 2.9.21.There are also a bunch more listed on the net 5 pages on the page.

My computer (newer imac, last gen) has an issue with remembering passwords. It'll forget them in the middle of me using the internet. Usually it forgets what my Gmail password is (using the gmail notifier in the top right corner), it forgets my passwords on sites like this (every week or so) and it forgets certain things i do in certain programs (itll reset everything like i've never used it before).
View 8 Replies View RelatedI have Snow Leopard on my new Mac. I transferred all the info from my old Mac. Unfortunately I transferred all my settings which means I have to give my password for any applications (Mail, Safari, etc.etc.) I use or whenever the computer goes to sleep or I switch applications. I can't find a way to stop this. I'm the only user of a computer here and no one else uses it. I don't mind doing it when I first go to the computer but don't want to keep giving my password whenever I do something.
View 6 Replies View RelatedThis is driving me insane. I'm a member of quite a few internet forums and I cannot for the life of me remember all of their passwords. Ever since updating OS X and Safari it keeps forgetting my login details for them even though I tell it to remember when I'm given the option! Sometimes it will remember and keep me logged into a forum when I next visit it. But then it seems to forget again after a couple of days. I'm getting rather fed up of this.
View 19 Replies View RelatedI'm in the process of installing a new, 500 GB HDD into the Macbook. The OS is installed onto the new HDD but I haven't actually put the drive into the Macbook. I don't want to just use Migration Assistant to migrate all my user settings over, as there's some wonky stuff going on with my account. Plus, I want to use Safari4 rather than Safari3 which I'm using now, with plugins and addons. I've got all my apps/dmgs backed up, and a current Time Machine backup, but again, don't want to just import everything.
So how do I get my passwords etc migrated over? Can I use Keychain from the old HDD and just copy/paste the relevent files? If so, what files? Basically, I want iTunes settings, all iLife apps, all iWork apps, my backed up dmgs and registrations, my VMware installs (Win XPproSP2 and Vista Ultimate), my firefox logins, my foxmarks install, my documents, my perian settings etc without bringing over the plugins, etc. Will I have to redownload the Blackberry Desktop Manager and Tetherberry into a new VMware? Or will the whole VMware environment migrate over? Sorry if this post seems a little scattered, but it's late where I am and I've just got in from some AWESOME wings'n'beers.
I downloaded Adium last night and everything worked fine. I tried to sign in this morning and is just keeps asking me for my password for both my MSN and AIM accounts. I have tried both passwords multiple times and they are both correct. I have no idea why it doesn't want to sign in.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI find 1Password to be amazing, but my one complaint is that it doesn't seem easy to make logins for anything other than a web password. What about for my wireless password? To my school education account? My OS X password? Skype? AIM? MSN? Can anyone explain how to do this? I know I could just leave the website field blank, but that seems like a pitiful work around.
View 16 Replies View Relatedupgraded to Safari 5 and auto fill no longer works, passwords are mostly forgotten. Used Help and there was nothing to help this issue. To go back and try to remember passwords, account numbers etc is horrible and so far I see no advantages to this new version. This is the unintended consequence of a new version of software even with Apple!
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have all the boxes ticked in Autofill preferences, ran Keychain First Aid and searched the net for an answer but still my 20" iMac won't store the Yahoo username and password details. It will quite happily store others but not Yahoo. My 24" iMac does it, so does my MacBook Pro and iPhone!
View 8 Replies View RelatedII cannot log into my mac. I have two profiles. The first is my main one and the second is a "home" acct for the kids for browsing.  However neither password is working for either profile and even my master password is not working. I am literally locked out of my Mac.

I recently had difficulty logging into a website account. As a result, I was forced to change my password. However, when I went to log in with the new password, Safari did not ask whether or not I wanted it to memorize my password. The same thing happened with another site that I frequent. I've tried resetting Safari, emptying my cache, etc., but I'm still having trouble logging into one of my favorite sites.

For some strange reason Leopard mail doesn't seem to want to save any of our passwords to any our accounts. We've gone into mail preferences and saved them there, but as soon as we close down mail it 'forgets' them again. We've also repaired the keychain, but the same thing happens. Anyone know of how to fix a password memory problem?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI am using an iMac desktop with version 10.4.11. Are there any fingerprint readers that will fill in my passwords successfully or will they only allow me to sign on and then I would have to use apple keychain? If there is no fingerprint reader that will fill in passwords successfully can you point me to detailed instructions on how to use keychain?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm on a new MacBook Pro at work - came with OS X.4 and an upgrade install disc to Leopard... Safari 3 will NOT save any of my passwords. I continually choose "yes" every time I visit the sites that I want to use this feature for (i.e. project management panel at work), but no luck. Well, not EXACTLY true, on a (very) RARE occasion - Safari will save a username, but still NOT the accompanying password. I've found 2 threads on this same issue on Apple's Support Knowledgebase, there's still no solution from them on this: [URL]
Is anyone else out there having this issue? If so, I'm urging you to post on the thread so Apple will resolve this. I'm in the web design biz, so I am frequenty visiting sites that require login credentials. I'd switch to another browser, but, well - no I won't. I love Safari too much. Hey Apple - can I get a fix ova' here?
but that seems very dangerous to store your entire password library on somebody else's server! God knows where your Bank Passwords will end up..! What do people think about this?
View 5 Replies View RelatedAfter using snow leopard for a couple of months I didn't really enjoy it. Applications crashed, plus it was only the beta. I decided to Downgrade to leopard. I backed up using time machine, cleared my HD in Disc Utility, and tried to restore. This didn't work since the default applications were not compatible with Leopard s I had to start fresh then drag my apps and everything manually. After a couple of days, it was all done. Now after 3 months since I downgraded, Keychain is really starting to tick me off. Every time I use an application that requires a password, it never remembers and I always have to type it. I've tried using pacifist and putting back in keychain, nothing. Tried to make a new keychain nothing. Tried to repair, nothing. What is going on here.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI recently did an upgrade from 10.5.6 to 10.5.7. I had the original Leopard DVD in the drive, as I was doing some troubleshooting a few days prior. The upgrade went through fine, but then I noticed, I could not make any changes in the 'Disk Utility'. I tried to fix it in the 'System Preferences' - no luck. Soon I discovered I could not make any changes where an 'admin' login was required. Furthermore, all user accounts have been set to 'standard'. There are no options for an admin to login?
View 1 Replies View RelatedWell, the title say it all. Is there a way to do it? Save all password forms without a window prompting asking for permission, etc?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've been trying to find some sort of program that would allow me to sync passwords between my Macbook and iPhone. Right now I just have a very basic program that you just have to type in one password for on my Mac--this is all I need--just something really basic that's password protect.
View 8 Replies View RelatedQuick version:
Even though I can change passwords on an account I cannot login to the account with the new passwords (or the old one). I have tried changing the passwd with both in System Prefs and using "sudo passwd" in the Terminal.
Longer Story:
I recently changed passwords on my main account (call it "acct1") using the Terminal. However I then couldn't log back in, but luckily could still surf the web with acct2 (not an admin account). I found out how to create a new admin account (call it "acct3") by removing the /var/db/.AppleSetupDone file in single user mode. That worked, but (as I said in the quick version) when I change the password for acct1 in acct3, I still can't log in to acct1.
This is very annoying. Is there any solution or do I just need to copy acct1 files to acct3 and start over? I can't go into an Apple store for at least a week since I'm traveling.
I have never used Keychain. I posted elsewhere herein that I deleted my cookies and now, tho' I am logging in to all the online password-protected accounts, despite selecting "remember me" or "keep me logged in" I wind up having to log in every time I attempt to access. So I thought I'd try using Keychain to hold the passwords to make things a little more efficient until I (if ever) solve the cookie problem. I deleted the old keychain and created a new one. When I restarted the computer, since I have Goggle Notifier, the first thing it asked me was if I wanted to store the Gmail password in the keychain which I created—yes—no problem with Gmail. I went to the other accounts and logged in, assuming Keychain would ask me if I wanted to store the password for that online account in Keychain as well, but I got no screen enabling me to do that.Â
