Iv e had problems with my mac so did a clean reinstall, now my magic mouse wont scroll and my the f buttons on my wireless keyboard don't work ie volume buttons.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've been lurking around this forum for a few weeks, gathering information to decide what Mac I wanted to order. I appreciate all the information that is available here! I took the plunge this afternoon and thought I should register as I'm sure I'll have questions in the coming weeks. I played around with an iMac at an Apple Store a few months back and kicked around buying one. I really enjoy my iPhone and my iPad, but I kept thinking about the iBook G4 that has been gathering dust because I never really took the time to learn the Mac OS. Then my Windows laptop quit and I had to send it off for repair. I dug out the iBook and that put me over the edge. For whatever reason, I had no problems figuring out the OS this time around. I've been trying to figure out how to justify an iMac ever since. Today I ordered a refurbished 21.5" iMac from Apple's refurbished site. I ended up ordering over the phone -- I called Apple to ask a couple of questions, and when I mentioned that Amazon offered Apple Care cheaper, the sales rep gave me a discount on the Apple Care. Plus, I got a free (after rebate) AirPrint-capable printer. So, I think I ended up with a pretty good deal. After all that, I'll get to my question -- do you use the wireless keyboard & magic mouse? They seemed fine when I was using them at the Apple Store, but that was just for a short time. I'm wondering how I will like them when I'm editing photos or typing a long document (I deal with all the numbers I can handle at work, so I don't do much at home that would require the number keypad).

View 2 Replies View RelatedI was thinking of purchasing an Apple Wireless Keyboard, and an Apple Magic Mouse. I'm absolutely sure it'll be a wise investment, and an awesome Christmas gift. My current Mighty Mouse is quite horrible, I don't even have the ability to scroll up. Of course I don't bother to waste my time cleaning it. Oh well, they don't have a scroll bar for nothing.
The only problem is that I'm not sure if my Mac has the proper capabilities to enable usage for the wireless perpherials I'm planning to buy. This is somewhat how my Mac looks, though I'm running on Mac OS X Snow Leopard 10.6.3 (I purchased the disk). I believe my computer has Bluetooth, there's an Icon for it in System Preferences. In my System Profiler, it also has a Bluetooth tab (here's the information is shows, I just cropped out some info. at the top, and my name).
How do I know if my Mac is set for these two items?Looking forward to your responses.

After about a week I finally managed to reinstall Mac OSX Snow Leopard...I took a RAM stick out at random and it worked...good thing there weren't any Genius bar appointments which suited me. Anyway, now I need to connect a keyboard I've already got my USB keyboard in it (The same size one as the wireless one...but this one's wired) I've unplugged it, plugged it back in. I've dug out my wireless keyboard and nothing's happened (Yes, the green light blinks.I put my iMac to sleep, I turned it off, it still isn't working...
I could try and find a wired mouse/keyboard somewhere...but I can't believe my wired Apple keyboard isn't working with it I'm surprised Apple think this wireless stuff is a good thing...I'm more surprised my wired keyboard won't connect.It's an iMac 11,2 (I think - Whatever the late 2010 one was) and I'm running Snow Leopard.
Also - When's it safe to put the RAM back in? Or is it actually faulty and I need to get a replacement? How can I check?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI've been trying to get Windows 7 (under Boot Camp) to recognize my Bluetooth Keyboard and Magic Mouse, and for some reason it's not working. I first tried it with the drivers that come on the disc, and those didn't work (found the mouse/keyboard but wouldn't work), then I tried the Bluetooth update that Apple released, and that didn't work either. The mouse and keyboard show up in the Bluetooth devices as 'Connected', but neither work.
When I restart the computer the mouse/keyboard work at the login screen, but once I login they stop working. If I boot into Mac OS, and then boot back into Windows, they work fully, but after about 5 minutes they stop working. Why is this happening? Did anyone else have this problem?

View 4 Replies View Relatedmouse cursor not working properly, when i go to my hidden dock it will not appear unless i left click, and when i try and drag and drop whatever i pick up gets stuck to cursor and i have to power down, and when i go to the tool bar at top, and highlight a particular section the highlight does not follow my cursor nor will it change from file to edit to view etc. without me actually clicking each individual section, i have done 3 fresh installs, and run the boot cd live and still have the same problem running to boot cd live.
I have no idea what is causing this problem, i have run hardware test, both using memtest for mac and macs own internal test holding the D key down on boot, memtest ran with not errors, but the mac test came up with two seperate issues the first was using the quick test the second was using the extended test: 4MOT/1/ 40000003: HDD-1363 and the second was 4MOT/1/40000003: HDD-1429,Oh the machine is a intel based 20" imac, with the core 2 duo 2ghz processor, 2006 i believe and its running osx 10.5.

really really need your help people!!!so i started up my computer today and the keyboard and mouse wont work. tried all the remedies to make them work and some have said reinstalling mac os dvd's solved the problem..... however without any keyboard or mouse how do install them?i put the os dvd in the computer but i cant click or do anything to make it start so how i do install the os dvd's in this case..... and oh btw... even in safe mode the keyboard neither the mouse work....
i have a 20" imac desktop that is about a year old if it helps and im using a wired mouse and keyboard.
I got my new iMac. It's beautiful, but the wireless keyboard has sharp edges. It easily scratches the aluminum finish on the magic mouse bottom, and the plastic on the top. Obviously the answer is "don't hit bump your mouse into your keyboard"... but with the 27" screen... you have to move the mouse A LOT to get your expose' corners working! Other than that, works well.
Side note: exceptionally impressed with parallels 6 -- but I gave it 2 cores and 6gb of RAM.
I can remote desktop into it with my macbook pro and do some quick coding in Visual Studio - nice. To setup remote desktop in parallels 6 -- you need to go to Virtual Machine.. Configure..Network... change it to shared connection with Airport.
I received a new iMac about 2 weeks ago, and I'd like to know how long the battery is suppose to roughly last for the keyboard and magic mouse. When I installed iStat Pro widget, it showed the battery power for my mouse, but the keyboard has never showed up. My mouse has been steadily losing battery power and is now at 28%. However, bluetooth states the power to my keyboard is 100%. This doesn't seem correct.
One other thing I've noticed in the bluetooth menu, under devices, is that the keyboard is labeled as "Apple Wireless Keyboard", while the mouse is title's my name's mouse (I.e.: "Darkroom's Mouse"). This may just nothing, but I'm assuming it's another symptom of my keyboard not being fully read by the OS.
The issue is basically as described in the thread title. Out of nowhere, my Magic Mouse doesn't seem to recognize left and right 2-finger swipes (forward/back in browser and I've also used Better Touch Tool to make it change songs in iTunes). The only change I've made was to install the drivers for a Digidesign MBox 2 (audio/MIDI interface for recording). I checked my mouse preferences, and the box for the 2-finger swipe is checked. I've turned the mouse off and back on, restarted BTT, restarted the computer, and pretty much everything else I can think of. Does anyone have any ideas, or has anyone else experienced this issue? Is there any chance the MBox could have some effect on this?

I have to press the button on the bottom and get the Bluetooth to find my mouse again everytime, but then it works fine. The battery level is at 93%. It loses the mouse connection every time the computer goes to sleep. I even set the mouse as a favorite, and it did nothing.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI have two Magic Mouse(s) and both worked fine from day one - early last year, and both now act up constantly with the same symptoms. I am among those who believe it has something to do with Lion. When I boot up, they don't get recognized and when I go to Mouse and search for bluetooth devices - sometimes they are found and most of the time they are not. I can reboot and sometimes get the mouse but often do not.
I know about adding the paper to help cushion the batteries, hasn't helped. I have the Advanced setting to wake computer with mouse. I saw some reference to booting with a control option and deleting some setting but can't find out exactly what that is all about. Love using this mouse, especially swiping, and want to make it work.
Right now I have one of those huge "ergonomic" bricks in my palm and can't stand it!
I hooked my Mac mini to a new monitor and now the wireless magic mouse will not work, although is says it is connected, it seems to be stuck on the top line.

Today after I cleaned my mighty mouse (by rolling the scroll ball on a piece of paper) the Button 3 would not work properly and neither would the primary button. When the scroll ball is set as Button 3 the primary button and the scroll ball both do Button 3 actions even though in the preferences its not set up that way. I can't click anything with it, it just keeps opening new tabs in Firefox and when I click those tabs they close. And as I typed this I noticed the secondary button isn't working well either. I took out the batteries, turned off bluetooth, changed the preferences, restarted my MacBook and it's all the same.
