Can tables in Pages 5.5.1 be set up to fit every labels? I've tried to adjust the margins and the cells to sizes listed on the package, but I can't get them to fit properly. Also, when I try to copy information (return address with three lines of data) from one cell to another to fill in the page, the information ends up with one line each in three different cells. How do I keep it all together?
View 2 RepliesWhen copying a table from say a webpage or even a RTF file, Pages does not retain its table formatting. Instead it separates the rows and columns and puts them on separate lines.
See it for yourself, try copying one of the tables on this page into Pages [URL]
The only way I can get the table into Pages is to paste into NeoOffice (which retains the correct formating), save the file with the .doc extension then open in Pages.
when I try to import a table from a website into the latest version of Pages, the table format isn't kept but instead it is spaced out over 4 or 5 pages. How can I make Pages keep the table format and not switch it to pure text?

If I insert another TOC in my document, and update the content of that table, pages still updates the first TOC, too, even though the second TOC is in another section.
Kind of disappointed that this program can't do this basic feature. Is it possible to make labels with Pages?

In Word, i just choose File, New, Labels, and am given a choice of label types. I fill in the tabs and job done.
Does anyone know how to do this in Pages? I know how to create a table, but, isn't there an easier way to do this?
Plus, can I edit the current business cards template so that I can use it to create the labels?
Currently, I am using Pages for all my word processing stuff, with the exception of printing labels and envelopes.
I download label template 8160 from Avery and try to save the word template Avery downloads in Pages. I have not been able to do this.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm using Classic Layout in Mail.app - in the message list the column "Flag" shows all flags/labels as text, i.e. instead of an orange flag icon it shows "Orange". This is rather strange and uses too much space in the list - is there a way to change to icon view? In Mavericks it shows a coloured flag icon.
I tried to find a menu command or Mail.app preference to change this, but couldn't find one. Not sure but I think in OS X 10.10.0 Mail.app showed flag icons; I have OS X 10.10.1 installed.

Ever since updating to Yosemite, I have noticed an odd behavior from the menu bar. When I switch between apps, the menu bar doesn't always change. Like right now, the menu bar says "System Preferences..." and shows all the menus for System Preferences, but when I select a menu, the proper one drops down. how I can get my menu bar to display the proper menus?

I am trying to create mailing labels from my contacts. When I preview the labels, they are shown with the names as <Lastname> <Firstname>. Is there a way to print them so they would appear as <Firstname> <Lastname>?

In Yosemite, using Preview, I can't print anymore two pages of a PDF document on one paper, for example pages 1 AND 2 on the same page. It prints the same page (1) twice!

View 1 Replies View RelatedRunning 10.10 and I'm getting all blank pages when I print through the system or say Preview. Brother MFC-4710, upgraded firmware and downloaded new drivers. What is weird though is if I open a PDF from Chrome and printer directly from Chrome, it prints fine.
I've tried it on two laptops and both have the problem.

A while back I "upgraded" to Yosemite and noticed my system ran slower and some web pages wouldn't load. I had Mountain Lion with less issues and less pinwheels. I went to YO to improve the slow loading but I now feel it is worse.
Should I return to ML or work out issues with YO? I've talked with a AppleRep a month back and did a PRAM reset and disc repair..My modem and router have been replaced without any notice in improvement.

Before Yosemite I never had a problem with using Private Browsing window in Safari - now it seems to be designed to log you out as much as possible- but that's another question..I'm having is that private windows block the top of the screen so it's impossible to login to certain web sites (PayPal, Facebook..), basically any site who's login is at the very top of the screen. It will work just fine in regular safari window.

Is there a quick and easy way to save a current "look" of one table, save it as a certain style, then click on the other tables in the file and they will all look the same?
I have been sent a job application form in pdf and have been asked to fill in the relevant boxes and return electronically. The easy solution would be to print, hand write and then scan. However, I just wanted to know if there is a clever way to convert the application form into a word.doc and then insert text and edit? I have looked at various free downloads however, they don't seem to be able to retain the table format of the original document. Does anyone have experience/knowledge of doing this.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI just bought a new Mac Mini (Late 2014, ships with Yosemite) to replace a defunct MacBook Pro (Late 2008, last ran 10.8.5). I have a local administrative user account and some server and network data that I want to migrate from the latest Time Machine backup of the MacBook Pro to the Mini. I don't want to copy anything else to the Mini. Neither Setup Assistant nor Migration Assistant will let me deselect anything though. All the check boxes are greyed out. Clicking on them does not uncheck them. This forces me to copy everything from the Time Machine backup to the Mini. Then the Mini won't restart. It won't even boot into safe mode. It just gets stuck in a reboot-loop until I enter recovery mode, wipe the system drive, and reinstall Yosemite.

I have a 250GB firewire drive. I have a G5 iMac and an Intel iMac. I'd like to make bootable clones (about 60GB each) of each for off site backup, so two logical partitions. As far as I can see, the partition table scheme is determined at the physical drive level. But I need the logical drives to be Apple for the G5 partition and GUID for the Intel partition (please correct me if I am wrong) in order for them to be bootable. Is there any way around this, or do I need two physical drives after all?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've recently switched from Word for Windows to Word for Mac (2008), and I'm having trouble figuring out how to "tab over" text in tables in the Mac version. In the Windows version, Ctrl + TAB works, but I haven't figured out the equivalent command/key combination for the Mac version.
Setting tab stops in a table cell is a breeze, but figuring out how to use these stops has proven to be more of a challenge for me.
When I type a document with a table in it and send it via email to someone, it is jumbled up when they receive it.

I have a Canon Pixma MX700 connected to a PC and am able to print text/word files from my MAC to the printer via the router without any problems. However, whenever I try to print a document containing a table or a graphic, it doesn't print in the right place, and there is often a blue 'echo' of the table or image that also prints. I am currently using a gutenprint driver.

On my MBP running 10.5.5, the tables, captions and figures looked fuzzy (out of focus) when I viewed the document using Preview. The main text looked fine. However, they all looked clear when I viewed the document using Acrobat Reader.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI bought a 320Gb external HDD which was to replace my internal 160Gb drive in my Unibody Macbook.
I used SuperDuper! to copy my original disk on to the new one, then swapped the disks. My 160Gb is no loger working, which is fine, but I want to install a fresh OSX on to the new hard drive. I can use the Disk at the moment but the mac can't boot from it. I need to hold down the option key and select it at startup, I presume because of the format/partition type.
When I try to do a fresh install of OSX, I get an error saying cannot install on this disk because of partition type (GUID Tables).
I'm not allowed to do anything to this disk because I can't 'unmount' it, so, can I run disk utilities from my install DVD? before mounting the disk?

In an updated version of its report on Apple's scrambles to secure last-minute content licensing deals for the iPad, The Wall Street Journal cites people familiar with the matter as saying that electronics maker is now asking that television networks agree to drop the price of their episodes to $0.99, down from $1.99 and $2.99.
The concession on Apple's part comes after the majority balked at a more ambitious attempt by company to court its largest network partners into an all-inclusive subscription service, which would have offered iPad users broad access to the catalogs of many of their favorite programs for a set monthly fee, according to the paper.
Still, Apple's struggling to achieve the networks' approval, even with its pared back strategy. People speaking anonymously to the Journal say the content providers are weary of the strategy, fearing it could ultimately hurt their business and jeopardize "the tens of billions of dollars in subscription fees they are paid by cable and satellite companies for their traditional TV networks."
