View 1 RepliesSomething is blocking my computer from downloading podcasts. I have NetBarrier and Little Snitch installed but disabling both of them didn't help. When I try to download a podcast in iTunes, I get an exclamation point next to the podcast and nothing downloads. I tried this with several podcasts and none will download. I can download the podcasts onto my iPad so the problem is with something on my MacBook that is blocking iTunes podcasts. The App Store is working fine in iTunes and I could download apps to the MacBook. The problem seems to be only with the podcasts. I'm using the latest versions of Lion and iTunes. I checked the link to my iTunes library (on a separate partition) and that is working fine.

How do I get all my subscribed podcasts to download automatically at least once each hour? A couple of weeks ago following an iTunes update, iTunes stopped automatically downloading subcribed podcasts. There is no longer a "Refresh" button that directs iTunes to download newly available episodes. I am now having to refresh individual podcasts twith a right-click command menu item.

I'm subscribed to about 10 differet podcasts, and I just realised that there hasn't been a new episode of any of them in a while. I right clicked them all in turn, and chose Update Podcast, and lo and behold, a whole slew of episodes started downloading. For some of them there are even more than 1 episode that hasn't downloaded. Can anyone tell me why iTunes doesn't automatically download new episodes of these subscribed podcasts? iTunes is set to check everyday for new episodes, but simply seems to have not bothered! This has happened a few times before too.
EDIT - From iTunes saying that there are no new episodes of any of my subscribed to podcasts, I've ended up with 20 downloads after manually checking.
when downloading a podcast from within iTunes, I don't get the cover art in iTunes (when viewing in Cover Flow, for example).
When I download on my iPad and iPhone, the cover comes up fine.
This is happening on both of my system, Mac Pro and MacBook Pro both early 2008.
I opened iTunes and all my music, apps, and podcasts were not listed. I plugged in my iPhone 4 and still nothing. I logged out and back in still nothing.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI just got an iPod Touch (having used an iPod Classic for a few years), and noticed that for Enhanced Podcasts have, in addition to the images/links,the ability to skip between sections very easily without having to FF/Rew and hope for the best.
Is this functionality broken/no longer in itunes? I found an apple support article (URL) that says an icon should appear that lists all the sections, but it doesn't appear for me.
Using iTunes 9, everything up-to-date.
After I did a backup of my iTunes database on my PC and restored it on my new mac I have just discovered that I now have two Podcasts folders, one within the Music folder and another one within my Music:iTunes folder. As far as I can see all the podcasts inside the iTunes program is pointing to the files in the Music:Podcasts folder. Another strange thing is that all the podcast files I have is found in the Music:Podcasts folder but in the Music:iTunes:Podcasts folder only a part of my podcasts are found. Since I'm still new on a Mac I'm a little confused about this . Could any of you please tell me what the default position of the Podcasts folder is in Mac OS?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've got about 150 individual podcasts downloading and I've subscribed to about 20 , the problem is it's now stuck and won't let me "Pause all" or "resume all" on the download screen. I have a feeling if I shut it down the hard way I'll lose all those individual podcasts and podcast subscriptions that I entered, and it took me hours to figure out the ones I wanted. Is there a way to backup so it will resume all this on restart?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am new to using Podcasts and not sure how to download the ones I'm interested in. I did a search and about 50 were returned from my search criteria. I don't know where you click to select and download the podcasts that I'm interested in.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am having a problem with iTunes. When ever I refresh my podcasts it will start downloading then about 5 min in my whole computer freezes. This only happens with this program and this function. I tried uninstalling iTunes and reinstalling. All other programs work without incident. I am running XP. I also have the newest version of iTunes.

Having watched a couple of Revision 3's podcasts (Tekzilla and HD Nation), at about 20 minutes into it, my MBP freezes for maybe 10 seconds, then the video continues to play, but not in the same place where it left off. Movies purchased from the iTunes store (standard def) play fine with no problems, and the HD podcasts play fine, with the exception of the freeze. Niot had any other issues with the MBP.
I'm using the 9600M GT card, so I'm not sure why it's freezing.
It just froze on me about 20 min ago. All I was doing was listening to iTunes and browsing the music store. I looked at the temp of the computer and it seems kinda high, I don't know too much about this.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI started iTunes this evening and as it opened a "thermometer"-type dialog appeared that said something about "converting" and "xml". (I didn't pay much attention as I was doing something else while it opened.) Once it opened, iTunes started going through all my music resetting volume. By this time I knew something was not normal. Then I noticed that, while my music appeared to be there, none of my Apps are, nor are any of the podcasts I had subscribed to. I had just synced my iPhone this a.m. with no discernible problem. I had deleted some duplicate episodes of one podcast (which are still in my trash), but that was the only thing that I had done out of the ordinary. Can anyone tell me:
1) What happened (and how do I prevent it from happening again)?
2) How do I get my apps and my podcasts back?
3) If I have to restore from my latest Time Machine backup (which is more than 10 days old, I'm afraid), how would I do that
I can't get my NPR podcasts to update, although I have subscribed for years. If I hit Refresh, nothing happens. If I go to the Store and subscribe, nothing happens, although I can subscribe to other podcasts.

I noticed there was an issue with the last update (11.2.1) where podcasts were unexpectedly downloading. The new update (11.2.2) states that it "fixes a problem where certain podcast episodes may download unexpectedly after upgrading". However since installing the new update it has not seemed to have solved the problem. As soon as Itunes opened up again once the update was complete about 7 podcasts were downloading???

There is no "Get All" button for podcasts in iTunes 11.3.1(2) for Mac. This is a bit of nuisance, to say the least.

On iTunes, all of my podcasts have become unsubscribed--and I can't figure out how to subscribe again. Nothing happens when I hit the subscribe button; when I right-click on the podcast and choose "subscribe" from the menu; or even when I go to the iTunes store and hit subscribe?
I think the issue may have resulted from when my iPhone Podcast app was synced, but I've since turned off syncing across products.
I have a 2007 2.2Ghz "Santa Rosa" MBP, which I've had quite the problems with for the past 3 (soon to be 4) years. Just starting this week, if I'm on Safari or iChat for instance, Mac OS X freezes and everything stops... yet the mouse cursor can still move. Very soon, the screen starts flashing black and white over the frozen screen (with Safari, iChat, or whatever still open and visible behind the intense flickering). This flickering only goes on for a few seconds though; but the system remains frozen, requiring a manual shut-down and reboot.
Any ideas what's going on? It just started recently. Software has been completely up to date. Somehow I'm paranoid that the graphics card issue is coming back to haunt me again (I've had it replaced once already) but it doesn't seem like that's it.
my MBP is really screwing up these days. Basically the best way I can describe it is that randomly once in awhile (no matter what I'm doing, usually surfing the net) the screen flickers a few times, then most of it turns black (except usually for a small part on top that stays on whatever it was displaying before). The section between the part that stayed the same and the bottom is sort of "multicolored".
The computer does not respond to anything except holding the power button down for 5 seconds until it shuts off. If I try to adjust brightness or sound level, nothing happens. Anyway, I took it in to apple and they claimed it was the motherboard, so they replaced it. But today I had the problem again! What else could it even be? Any chance its the RAM/screen/hard drive?
my trackpad is frozen and I also could not get force quit to work, I closed the top down and now I cannot get past the login and the cursor will not move, does anyone have any ideas

iMac starts up as normal. Once it is on desktop, will not open anything. Have new snow leopard to install, put disk in and it pops up on desktop, however just like anything else I cannot click or open it. I have unplugged, restarted, used command-option-escape( which does bring up "Force quit" box, but again I cannot click open or select anything.

I subscribe to various podcasts like NBC Nightly News, Geekbrief, etc. which have a daily show. I have podcasts setup to only keep the 3 newest episodes and auto delete the rest. Today however, I found a bunch of episodes dating back months which were never auto deleted but didn't show up in my podcasts menu. I had over 6 gigs of old episodes! I even still had the folder of episodes from podcasts I had long unsubscribed to and deleted from the podcasts window of iTunes. Does anyone know if this is an iTunes bug or am I doing something wrong?
View 2 Replies View RelatedWhenever I press sync in iTunes, it starts doing all sorts of things like backing up the ipod touch, downloading the applications which takes forever. Is there a way just to sync the podcasts? I have gone through all the various settings and deselected everything that might be causing this.
I don't know why many have used ml_ipod with winamp in the past but I had a good thing going. But unfortunately Apple seems to have broken the support with the latest firmware.
I recently upgraded to iTunes 9.1.1. After plugin in my iPhone I realized that some weird stuff was going on. I.E., iTunes asked me if I wanted to transfer all my iPhone purchases back to iTunes (I never buy iPhone Apps outside iTunes). After letting it SYNC again (iTunes copied all iPhone APPs back to iTunes) I noticed that my iTunes' podcast list was empty. Further investigation in showing me that files are there (~/Music/iTunes/iTunes Music/Podcasts) but they are not showing in iTunes. I get a screen offering to show me some podcast videos & tutorials).
So, my question is:
1. Is there a way to rebuild iTunes database to see if that fixes the issue?
2. If #1 is not possible. How can I import my podcast list back.
I can't use iTunes 10 to delete podcasts from my iPhone 4S (iOS 5.0.1) when it is hooked up to my Macbook Air (OS 10.6.8).The edit menu shows the Delete command greyed out, and using the backspace key has no effect. I know I can delete individual podcasts on the iPhone itself by swiping sideways. I don't want to do that - I want to delete multiple podcasts from the iPhone at once using iTunes. This has been possible with previous versions of iTunes and an iPod, for example. Not sure why it's not working with the iPhone 4S. Wonder if I'm missing something obvious?
