OS X :: Won't Drag And Drop Songs Into ITunes PlaylistsNov 2, 2009
All the sudden I cannot drag and drop songs from my library into playlists.
All the sudden I cannot drag and drop songs from my library into playlists.
I've had the last two versions of Keynote and just upgraded to iWork '09. In the past I could drag a file from iTunes and drop it on to a slide and that song would be there. Now when I drag it over I get the green + sign, but when I try to drop it, nothing happens. I can still add the same file by using the media browser and searching for it in my iTunes playlist, but that takes significantly longer.
I use a lot of sound files in my presentations and it's much faster and more convenient to find them in iTunes and drag-drop them into Keynote.
I don't know what happened but all of a sudden itunes won't let me drag and drop a song onto my ipod or iphone, It won't even let me drag and drop a song in a playlists within itunes.View 2 Replies View Related
So over the past few months I have noticed this small bug/glitch in iTunes... and it is very annoying.
I cannot drag songs from playlists into different order. iTunes just doesn't let me drag at all.
I have to quit iTunes, then restart it. It will work for one time, but as soon as I got back to "Library" and then try to go back and edit a playlist, I have to exit iTunes.
Any fix for this?
Just like the title says Throughout the life of iTunes, I have been able to do this. Now, I cannot. It's super annoying, as I now have to go and sync each individual file. I've got thousands of files. It would drive me crazy to individually check each one to sync. Drag 'n' drop is much easier.
The only difference has been that I stopped using a mouse and began to use the Apple Magic Trackpad. I'm not sure if this has had any deleterious effect.

When I have an Iphone or Ipod attached to the computer and showing up in Itunes, I was just wondering how to drag and drop movies or music directly to the media device, without first dragging it into the Itunes media library or into a playlist. I used to be able to do this. Since then, I must have updated Itunes or reinstalled it or something. But now I can't drag and drop anything directly onto the media player. I can't create new playlists directly on the media player either (I have to open them under "Playlists" and then checkmark them to be synched. I'm assuming there must be some sort of simple setting in the options that I've changed.View 2 Replies View Related
I'm not too sure what forum this fits in.I'm looking for suggestions for a work-around solution. My files are beyond chaotic. I want to search document contents for a topic (that I have hundreds of files on, but all over the place) using the finder. Then, I want to be able to drag and drop all the files into a topic folder. But, the search/finder window does not permit drag-and-drop functionality.
To me, this is hugely frustrating. It would be the easiest way for me to organize my mad mad files.I'm looking for suggestions for how I can do this? I'm on MacBook Pro OS 10.6.4
So I have a friend who is a pc who gave me his hp hard drive with simple save, one of those hard drives with software that com pies things automatically. When I plug it in it show up fine and I can look in the folder and I have read write access as you would expect on any hard drive. But when I try to drop stuf in I can't, and I obviously can't reformat it because he needs to use it. Any idea to work around it or what may cause this issue?View 1 Replies View Related
Since cut option is not available in mac, i am always trying to move the files by holding the mouse and dragging. And most of the time i realised i need a function like this. for example i am in folder1/folder2 ..and just want to take file from folder2 to folder1... but since there is not any "go one node above" option, i have to open everythng from the beginning... especially if those folders are located in a deep location such as user/lib/appsup/etc.View 4 Replies View Related
I am making an application featured like mac mail as in mac mail if we drop a file in message area then that file is as an attached file and we can drag that file to desktop and double click on the file to open it.
I am using webview(I think webview is used in mac mail)
I have had this problem for a long as I have had Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard. The problem is that drag & drop works intermittently for applications such as the Finder, iTunes, Fetch, etc.
My workaround for the Finder was to switch from list view to column view, but for programs like Fetch or iTunes, I cannot do that. Sometimes the solution is to relaunch the application, but this is not guaranteed.
I am running every latest update available (as of Nov. 18, 2008) for my system and software. I am currently on Mac OS X 10.5.5. The problem also affects more than one computer. These are the computers I've experienced it on:
20" iMac (aluminum) - 2.0GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 2GB RAM
Mac Pro - 2x2.66GHz Dual-Core Intel Xeon, 4GB 667MHz DDR2 FB-DIMM
20" iMac G5 (ambient light sensor) - 2.0GHz PowerPC G5, 2GB RAM
On my new 17" Powerbook, I can't drag and drop anything. I can only select/deselect and cut/paste, but no drag. This is consistent throughout all my apps. I can manage getting around the finder with cut/paste, but I can't do any graphic work if I can't drag anything (you can imagine).View 7 Replies View Related
Is this an acceptable way to back up your HD? I basically clicked my HD icon, selected all the folders inside, and dragged it onto an external HD.View 24 Replies View Related
Version 106.1, OSX Lion 10.7.3 Mac Pro.
It's the weirdest thing. I can drag a few songs out onto the desktop, then it stops letting me. Only a restart fixes this temporarily.
I freaking hate iTunes. Programs for simple tasks like uploading music onto devices should be efficently coded, not resource hogs that are incredibly unintuitive and needlessly complicated. Why can't we just drag and drop music and videos directly onto our phone like we can with just about every other media player? I already have all of my music organized just as I want it on my computer. Just let me drag the folders I want directly into the iPhone without having to bother with a 100mb download that runs like crap.
There's absolutely no excuse why such a simple function needs such a complicated program. Quote:..................
I can't cut & paste in any application, and can't drag and drop files into other folders or into the trash. I also can't print (keep getting error message). I have tried creating new Admin account, as well as repairing disk permissions.View 1 Replies View Related
I buy a lot of old cd's bc they are cheaper than buying them on itunes store, and i have a hard copy just in case. when i add the cd's to my itunes, they automatically go into Recently Added. I have a folder titled "Non Language" that I would like to move them to, but I can't highlight and copy them.View 1 Replies View Related
I'm using iTunes 9.2.1 and I hadn't noticed any issues but then today for no reason at all when I connected my ipod touch to my computer to charge it, iTunes opened (as normal) and all my music was missing along with all my playlists. Why did this happen & does anyone know a fix for this?? I checked my HDD#2 (where all my music is located) and it's all there...
IF you cannot drag and drop in iTunes for Mac then the issue is your Windows Mouse. Use a Apple Mouse or the Touchpad. It will solve the problem.

Clicked on itunes. Some box came up - not id as mac anything saying itunes xml something or other. I clicked stop. Now loads of my purchased music has vanished and all of my playlists. I haven't yet got round to backing up onto an external.

I recently purchased a new ipod touch. When I plug it into itunes, it says I need to update my itunes version to 10.6. If I update to this, will all my songs, playlists, etc. still be saved in itunes?View 1 Replies View Related
All my playlists are carefully put together, but when I sync the playlist from my computer to my phone or vis versa, random songs are left out of the playlists. I've found no pattern as to which songs remain or are lost, but the songs are still individually on the phone or computer, just not present in the playlists.

I used to simply drag and drop from finder, itunes or windows onto my i-pod/touch/pads. Now I cant do that , Why?View 2 Replies View Related
I have created playlists to be synced from iTunes to iPhone, however when syncing, not all of the songs in the playlist(s) transfer to iPhone. How can I fix this?

I have most of my music hosted on an FTP server, so I'm looking for a way to drag and drop from the FTP server (connected either through Finder, or any other client) into iTunes, and then have iTunes copy the music to my library. That way I don't have to download it to my local HDD, then import into iTunes, then delete the orginal. Just skipping a ton of extra work if I can drag and drop. Currently, I only get disconnected from the server if I try to drag and drop from Finder, and get nothing from Filezilla, and Transmit.View 3 Replies View Related
Prior to this update I could drag an album into my iPhone then drag another and it woud simply add those songs to the list being loaded. Not anymore! Now iTunes stops loading the first album, thiknks for a bit and loads the second drag. Utterly useless! I usually drag a selection of purchased and other songs in every couple of weeks for my daily commutes with this 'new' setup it would take a week to drag in a playlist coz I have to wait for every album!

So I updated my MacBook Pro last night and now my playlists wont shuffle correctly. When I turn on the shuffle feature and I have a column selected (number, rating, etc), all it does is rearrange the songs. it's not a real shuffle because I can still see which song is coming next (ie, songs 1, 2, and 3 might become 3, 1, and 2, but they'll still play in that order). When I turn on the shuffle feature without any column being selected, nothing happens. even though the shuffle button is blue, the songs in the playlists play in their exact order. the shuffle only seems to work properly when im playing music out of the entire music library, not one playlist.View 1 Replies View Related

I don't know when this started, but it's been the case for months: let's say I drag 10 albums' worth of files to copy to my iPhone (under manually manage music)--that will take a minute or so to copy via wi-fi. But, now, if I drag another album over to copy before the previous batch of 10 has finished transferring, the 10-album transfer is canceled, and the new album starts copying in its place. Before, dragging new files over to the phone during a copy would add to a "queue" such that your current copy job was not canceled.

I know it's kind of silly, but is it possible to use Apple Mail's icon and sort of drag'n'drop it to use it on Entourage? I prefer Entourage as my email app, but find Apple Mail's ICON nicer, so would it be possible for my Entourage to use Apple Mail's icon in the dock?View 2 Replies View Related
I was wondering exactly how the drag and drop function works. If I drag a file from the desktop to documents, I am assuming it is moved, not copied? If I drag a file from the desktop onto a flash drive, I am assuming it is copied?
Which leads me to: dragging a song from iTunes onto a folder in the desktop and then dragging that folder onto a flash drive. I am assuming the iTunes song will be in the new folder and on the flash drive? I thought there was something weird about having to have the iTunes songs in the iTunes folder?
And finally, if I decided to make an alias folder with songs (let's say it was an artist folder within all the iTunes folders and I made an alias on the desktop), and I dragged that alias folder onto a flash drive, would the flash drive's folder have the real files of the songs?
Yesterday I found that I can't drag and drop any files on my desktop. I get the white circle with a line through it when I try to drag anything. I can drag off of my desktop to my HD and to the trash but I can't drag anything back. I've read all of the previous threads about it and have tried all of the poetntail fixes including: Creating a new user account and switching back and forth
Sleep / Wake
Checking the Dragging option in Universal Access
Checking all of my settings in preferences
(I don't have Air Display, Airparrot or any of the other listed problematic 3rd party programs)I even reinstalled Lion and the problem still exists?
