I have an early 2010 13 inch macbook hooked up to an AG neovo F-417 monitor. Now i can get it to connect in both mirror and clamshell mode, but it seems to black out on me every few seconds ranging from 20 to sometimes a few minutes, switching back to the macbook screen.
I have basically tried to use every possible screen resolution but the blackouts won't go away.
is it possible that it is an incompatibility issue?

I received a Samsung SyncMaster XL2270 as a gift. I would like to use it as a desktop monitor for my macbook when at home, but the driver included with the monitor is not mac compatible.
So My name is Lindsey and I have been an avid apple supporter. However in the last two weeks I've come extremely close to selling everything apple I own and going back to windows. I purchased a refurbished Intel Imac through the apple store about 4 months ago. Awesome computer, everything worked great. Well I recently decided to add an additional monitor so of course I started browsing the forums and did my due diligence. I read that there were some compatibility issues with some of the older imacs and the apple 24 in led display so naturally I called my nearest apple store to find out if I could use this display.
The sales associate listened as I explained that I had a 2008 intel Imac and assured my the display would work without an adapter. Of course you guys know this is totally wrong but I was unaware of this fact at the time. SO I drove a 6 hour round trip to Dallas and paid 970 in cash for my new monitory. Get it home and realize that something is obv wrong. I call the store back and the clerk tells me I need an adapter that can be bought at Best Buy. I drive 45 min to best buy. They are sold out. Next day I drive an hour and a half to the next closest Best Buy. They dont have it either..............................
I picked up a new MacBook yesterday and I noticed a weird issue when coming out of "monitor sleep" mode, not regular sleep mode.
When I move the mouse, the external monitor shows what you see in the picture, kinda like a TV with no signal. The MacBook screen works fine so what I just do is unplug and re-plug in the DVI plug and everything is good again.
My 24 inch Dell monitor worked fine with my M1330 and other computers so I know it's not that. Does anyone have the same issue or maybe give me some light on this?
I have a 22" Dell external monitor on my MBP. I know that I just close the cover to my MBP to shut off the screen. What do I do in those instances that I want to use both screens? There has to be something simpler than restarting the MBP?
View 3 Replies View RelatedAs said, my current set up is an HDMI - DVI cable (HDMI to monitor and DVI to adapter) and my DVI - mini DisplayPort adapter, everything is connected fine but when I turn on the monitor, it says cable not found... and nothing is displayed on the screen but on the Macbook side of things, it sees the monitor is connected (I can extend the screen and leave the screen) but other than that, it appears I cannot get an image on the monitor, pressing every button on the monitor does not work either.
Any other information that may seem necessary, let me know. I tried clearing my PRAM and clearing the power and such but nothing seems to work.
I have a 27" i7. I have a 24" DVI Montior hooked up to it via MDP->DVI adaptor. When the 24" Monitor is on, everything is fine. When I turn the monitor off, the magic mouse tracking on the 27" screen stutters. I am not kidding - it took me ages to figure out that to fix I either need to turn the other monitor on OR disconnect the MDP->DVI adaptor.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a G4 powerbook with an LCD that only displays the top 25% of the screen. I've been using an external monitor with it just fine. Today, I reinstalled the OS and ran into a problem. The main OSX startup menu (you know, where it asks for your location, timezone, personal info, etc) is prompting me for information, and I can't see the forms to fill them in! The external monitor defaults to "extended" as opposed to "mirrored", and the forms are embedded, meaning I can't drag them over to my external monitor. Obviously, if I can't fill out these forms and get to the desktop, the laptop is completely useless.
Does anyone know how to force the external monitor to be "mirrored" from startup? Is there a keycommand?
I got a Macbook Pro with Snow leopard and a PC with vista at work. I want to buy an iomega Prestige portable (320 or 500gb) external drive and want to utilise with both machines, mainly to transfer/syncing documents. I want to take advantage of Time Machine in my mac as well. iomega user manual is saying that: "Please note that you might need to reformat the drive to Mac OS Extended (HFS+) before use."
1. Is that something definitely I have to do? If I don't, would that still work with both?
2. If I do so, would that create any problem with reading/writing of
the files?
3.Would that create any problem with the PC connectivity?
I have been using the latest macbook pro 13.3" since April 2010. Over the last week the monitor suddenly goes completely white and the external monitor goes black. The laptop becomes unresponsive although the programmes opened continue running (e.g a skype voice call would continue without interruption although the monitor is all white).
The only solution at the moment is to press the turn off button for a few seconds then switch the laptop on again. It will then work normally until for no apparent reason this happens again.
Is there a way to use my external monitor as my only monitor when connected to my mbp? Or, can i clone my display, but at separate resolutions? I am able to do this on windows with nvidia software, is there software that allows further customization?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI dont know if this is in the right area, but I am a mac newbie and I bought a Seagate 1 tb external harddrive yesterday and tried to move my files from my pc comp into the external harddrive (which worked) but when i tried to move my files from my macbook pro to the external harddrive, it wouldnt let me. Is this not compatible for both, and if not what external harddrive would you suggest that i can use as a drag and drop type external hd?

I want to make a desktop setup on a budget and I'm wondering if my MBP will fill up this display at the complete resolution (1920 x 1080) and if it will function completely with the peripherals on the monitor. Is there any time of performance decrease in reading/writing onto the drive if its formated as NFTS and then use NTFS-3G on my Mac? Compared to HFS+ which is Mac's native partition.
My main issue is wanting this external drive to be compatible between my Mac and Windows machines. Also want to run Time Machine backups on the drive,
I know Fat32 would be another option, but not when it comes to large ISOs and 1080p videos larger than 4GB.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI got a fairly nifty AOC 16" USB monitor from TigerDirect.it isn't totally Apple-Quality, but its bright... looks decent at 1366x768... and I got the color of the windows to almost completely match. I would suggest the AOC USB monitor to anyone looking for a cheap way to get a 2 monitor setup. And, it runs from a USB port only... no need to plug it in. Very nice. One drawback of this model is that it does have protrait AND landscape modes... there is a stand on the rear that you twist and can stand the monitor up on its end. However, the Mac drivers don't support this feature! Shucks! I had grandure thoughts of having a document in portrait mode all tall and beautiful. OR, a killer long Facebook window. But alas, this feature will have to wait for now... man, if AOC can release a new driver with this feature; I would say this $140 monitor is a KILLER. Still reccommend it.
First, when I connected it the monitor was aligned or setup on the left hand side... I want the NEW 16" monitor to be on the right hand side just as an extra screen space... so, I opened displays and moved the alignment. I noticed you can go up down left or right... which is cool. So I set it up for the right hand side, so when I scroll off the MBP screen to the right the cursor just goes over to the new screen. Great. However, the dock and toolbar are on the NEW 16" monitor no matter what I do! I want the dock and toolbar on the MBP still; and the new monitor just sitting there ready for me to throw any STUFF on it. How do I do that?
Also, when I use that multiple desktop feature... lol, I forget what its called. Each desktop switches the new 16" monitor to whatever # of screen I'm on. I can live with that if its the only way. BUT, better for me would be if the MBP has the dock and toolbar... can switch between those different screen #s... AND, the new 16" just sits to the right as extra space. So when I switch screen #s, the new 16" stays the same with whatever windows I have open staying there... this might not be doable, and that would be OK... but wondering if theres a way to do that too...

I have a Macbook Pro 2.16 Core Duo, and I'm wanting to install 10.6, but about a year ago, I cracked my screen to the point that I cannot make anything out on it, and haven't replaced it. Instead, I have just been using it in clamshell mode, which has worked out fine so far. My problem is that I cannot get the 10.6 install to show up on my external monitor.
I searched around, and could only find one other similar thread that just ended with the author putting it in clamshell and having it work fine. When I boot to the install and close the screen, I just get a grey box on my external display with a black bar on either side of it. I can't seem to find any other resources, so I'm not entirely sure what to do at this point. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I'm running an older 24 inch cinema display on my MBP and am looking to add second 24 inch monitor for use in FCP. My only cheap option seems to be a USB gizmo, something like this [URL]. Anyone have any experience with this device, specifically with FCP 6; I'd like to use the second monitor to playback the footage in the viewer so I don't think the device needs too much horse power but the footage will be in the ProRes 422 format.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI recently bought a Macbook, and I've been trying to connect it to my external Samsung SyncMaster P2270 screen using a DVI-to-miniDVI adapter from Apple. It works, both as extended or mirrored screen, but the maximum resolution I get is 1600x1200 (and I actually use 1600x900, cause it looks distorted otherwise).
Any clues on how to get it to output 1920x1080? I'm sure that the screen supports that resolution, because I've used it before with another laptop.
Just bought a new 22' LG monitor and I have the Mini DisplayPort to VGA. When I connect my monitor to my MacBook all is OK until I try to chose the 1680x1050 which is the LG's prefered resolution. When I chose it, my monitor turns to black, then after a while it shows the picture for a second, then black again.. Is this a 9400m fault, or the VGA adapter fault?If I try a MiniDisplay port to DVI, will it work in 1680 x 1050?
All the other resolutions are shown ok..
Just bought a new monitor and hooked it up to my MBA. Screen saver looks fine but the page is displayed off screen far left and the cursor is not visible at all. Works fine with my Powerbook so I don't think it's a monitor problem. Are there settings which could be wrong?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI hook up a Samsung LCD to my MBA via the Mini DVI cable and everything works great. However, when I unhook the cable (regardless of whether the Mac is on/off), the Mac doesn't pick up that it is now only on a single display, when opening apps (say Firefox), and opens them as if they were on the secondary monitor (so I can only see the very left hand edge). I can't imagine that I would need to minimize or drag the window to the MBA display prior to unplugging the cable, every single time...?
The only work around I have been able to find is drop the display resolution to 8x6 and grab the edge of the window and drag it over. I've tried "Detect Displays", restarting and other "tinkering" to no avail.
