in the near future my iMac 27" will be joined by both a MBP 13" and a MB 13" - we are several users in the house, going to eventually logon to all three machines.
Now, I do not have a server, but is there some way that the users can get the same favorites, personal files - their own and identical homefolder - disregarded where they logon?
I am working on getting profile manger working on 10.7.3. After turning profile manger I can get to a logon screen but after I logon I get this error in my browser. I am guessing the issue is with apache routing but I don't know.Â
View 5 Replies View RelatedI've mitigated my profile from my older iMini to my new iMini. Everything worked out fine but I've noticed that [on the new imini] I have to input my password twice. Once I log on and input my password, my profile comes up and ask me again to input the password. I also have a unsecured startup deice/item (display) message displayed once the system comes up. Can I create a new profile and basically move all my documents over to the new established profile.Â

my system fonts are jacked up and fill in lines in Safari are not readable as the text is bigger than the fil in window. Also my laptop is running harder, hotter and the battery life is less than half of what it should be. I also get text overlap line to line sometimes in Safari.Â
I have restored my OS with a clean install and then recovered my profile from Time Machine, this is how I discovered its my profile. I added a clean profile the first time I rebuilt the mac and it ran much faster, with less hardware usage and longer battery life. Once I began to recover my profile the system was same as always slow with Safari issues mentionee earlier. I switched to the temp user account profile and the system is fast no Safari issues and less intensive activity going on, battery life good etc. Â
If I rebuild the mac again I am not able to recover the profile/account without issues, I would like to move just what I need to a new profile/account from Time Machine but it doesn't allow access to the original admin account for a selective restore. I would like to be much more granular about the restore and just move my documents and such. I don't want to recover the applications or application data at this point as I don't need it. I would rather re-install just the apps I need at this time. Other option would be to clean my account/profile so that it runs as it should or move everything I want (mostly documents) to a new profile for improved use.

I have had to create a second admin account due to a photoshop problem. I am trying make my picture folder on the original admin account visible to the second new account, all i get is the folders with a red minus sign against them.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI had some problems after updating the iTunes, and at the end, I decided to use Time Machine. Picked a date before iTunes update, but after finishing, I could not logon. The filevault came with a warning, not able to logon to "my acount name", due to a failure. I'm 100% of the password, and when i try other passwords, it simply shake. I can logon through guest, but all programs, files etc are gone.Â
Anyone who knows about this...what to do? Is there any way I can collect the information from the Time Machine? When I'm possitive about the right password?Â
When i just reinstall Lion, there are a few programs missing...iPhoto, iWeb, Garage etc...Should i start installing Snow Leopard, and afterwards the Lion? Dont wanna spend money on the programs that i had earlier through the Snow program...Â

I've managed to get it set up so that when you run test xbox live connection on the 360, it recognises that the xbox is connected to a network, but i can't get it to the next stage, onto the internet. A few months ago I changed my logon screen background to something more desirable for my tastes. Recently, I updated my software to vers. 10.7.4 and the update reverted my custom logon screen back to the original. I tried changing it back, but it seems as though the location of the image has been changed as when I navigated there, my original "Custom image" was still there, but my actual logon screen still displays the factory image. What gives? Where do I go to change back to my custom image?

Last week, my MS Entourage quit getting my me.com mail. It gives me a Authentication failed because Entourage doesn't support any of the available authentication methods. error message. It was working fine and suddenly quit. I can access my mail by going to icloud as well as on my ipad, but not on my iMac using MS Entourage. When I set up a new account and have it "Verify My Settings," I get a "Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password" (-17900 ), yet its the same user name and password used on the ipad and icloud.com logon. The error we get is "The home folder for the user account is located on an AFP or SMB server. Contact your system administrator for help."
Logging onto server by Go - Connect to server works fine. But I can't log on to a client machine to get on the network.
Upon initial restart after installation, the grey screen with the Apple icon comes up and gets stuck there. I have tried to power down and get to disk utility to try repairing permisions but it always goes to the log on screen not the recovery mode. All user ID's get a pop up that says 'you are unableto log in to the user account'x' at this time. Logging in to the account failed because an error occurred. The spinning wheel spinns by the PW the whole time the error box is up but goes away when you click OK. It also knows if you put in an incorrect PW or not Have mac mini server 10.7 and an airport extreme the net was really slow at first on other nodes so I had to move to the guest net I cannot logon to the aitport cause it is single sinon enabled Worked yesterday not today after sleeping I can log onto my Wiki page with users though?

I don't understand this. We have three profiles. On two of them, we can connect to the Internet with Safari. However, we cannot on the third. We've tried both Safari and Firefox. It says I cannot connect to the server. What do I need to do to fix this?

I used my Pantone Huey to calibrate bith my main display and my secondary (just switched primary display between the two machine)
Everything worked great but I have 2 profiles that have the exact same name.
I can open up the .icc and do a save as but that just changes the file name not the name displayed in sytem preferences
Finally got my 8800 Mac Pro today. Not sure how it runs on anything yet as I'm still installing software (decided to play it safe and do everything by 'hand' rather than migration - considering I redid everything on my old computer a month ago when I got Leopard...what's one more time? Plus my old machine wasn't an Intel)
So far I'm loving it. Especially with my HP LP3065. Do have a question, though, on calibration. I looked at "Displays" in System Preferences and was surprised that there was a profile for the HP LP3065 that seems to be newly created (the date is today - 2/14 - at 6am). I'm wondering if that's an accurate calibration or if I should do any tweaking...
I installed XP through Boot Camp and the default color profile used just looks like crap. It's really washed out with dull colors and nothing like it is with Leopard loaded. What's the best way to fix that outside of using a monitor calibrator? I tried grabbing some pre-made color profiles off here to use since some of them had a Windows version with the Mac but I went into the color profiles tab in Windows to try and install the profile and when I selected to use it it didn't seem to change anything. I've never changed the LCD color profile in Windows before. Can anyone tell me how you did it?

Just finished the install and I am wowed by the color of my screen. I had been using a custom calibrated profile in Leopard. Snow Leopard defaulted it back and it is MUCH better than what I had. I tested my 'calibrated' profile and it is god awful now.
Anyone else experience a major improvement in color after the upgrade? What could the explanation be for this?
