I have a flashdrive that I have used without issue before, but now my imac doesn't "see" it. It works on my macbook just fine. I have investigated the issue by checking DU, but it doesn't show up there, either. I have OSX 10.6.3 on the imac and OSX 10.6.2 on the laptop.

I have a Macbook pro (OSX 10.4.11) and all of a sudden it stopped detecting a fairly new Jump/Flash drive that up until now worked fine. The icon doesn't show up on the desktop or in the Macintosh HD window.
The flash drive has "Dane-Elec" printed on it and is 4GB. I've tried it a number of times and nothing. The drive does still work on other computers, and my usb port is working properly with other devices.
The flash drive doesn't seem to show up in System Profiler and my Disk Utility has been "gathering information" for about 5 minutes now." Everything else is working fine with the notebook.
I am using MBP 13 (Non Retina ), It doesnt detect my wifi router always, Sometimes it does, When it doesnt, my other laptop and phone can detect the same wifi.

I have bought Macbook Pro last year. Its 2.4 Ghz Intel Core i5 machine with 4GB 1333 MHz DDR3. Of late it used to go to sleep randomly even while working. Last week I took it to Apple store who was not able to diagnose the cause of the problem but as a precautionary measure has changed, as per him, a bus connecting harddrive to the logic board. However the problem was still not solved. Few hours ago suddenly the machine went off and on starting it I found that it is not detecting the batteries. On the battery icon it displays an X, states "no batteries are available" and randomly switches the power source from battery to adapter and back. There is no light on the adapter. [code]

View 14 Replies View RelatedI have a 27" imac and have been using an apple led cinema display with it. I have had no problems with the display until today. Yesterday I installed windows 7 via bootcamp and had some trouble with the second display being detected but after downloading all of the bootcamp updates it worked fine. Today I restart my computer back into OSX and the display does not work. I tried resetting the PRam or whatever but that didnt do anything. When I go to system preferences > display there is no longer an option to detect display and there are no longer options to change the screen resolution.
I spoke with an apple tech who has me installing an update but I dont think she really knew what was going on and I doubt this will work. When I reboot back into the windows partition the display works during start up and I see the windows logo. So I dont think its a hardware issue (also the display still works fine with my macbook pro). But as soon as startup finishes I get a black screen. Under the control panel windows still recognizes that there is a 2nd display attached and you can still drag items over to the other screen, I just cant see anything. All black.
I am interested in booting another OS, Besides OSX, such as linux, from a Flashdrive. I was wondering how I might go about actually getting this to work with OSX. I've found some versions of Linux that can boot from a Flashdrive, but I'm not sure how I would get my Macbook to recognize it.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI just upgraded my daughter from last year's MacBook to a new 2009 MacBook Pro (my mother will get her old one) by cloning the drive using SuperDuper. Everything works fine except it doesn't detect the audio hardware in the OS. I see that the new macbook pro has different audio hardware according to system profiler. Is there a way to copy the driver off the install DVD or should I just go ahead and reinstall everything.

I think it's really cool and very thin, and is a great design for a consumer flashdrive. Do you think apple would do this? Or leave this little thing for the mba backup only?
Of course i know there are plenty of other flashdrives out there that work perfectly, but i was just thinking that maybe apple could do something cool for them like something Mac OSX specific (such as how sandisk has that "u3" interface that only works on windows)
I have been pulling a folder with sub-folders from iMAC Desktop to a flashdrive so as to use on my Macbook when I travel. Suddenly after several months with no problems I am getting the msg "The Finder cant complete the operation because some data in * cant be read or written. (Error code -36)" The folder won't copy to flashdrive. I have checked flashdrive with Disk Utility, tried different flashdrive, to no avail. the only way I can move the folder is by moving sub-folders one by one and if they generate the same msg by moving their files one by one. I cannot move as a whole. Running Snow Leopard 10.6.2. It is possible that this commenced after installing an OS X update but i can't be sure.

I can't remember the last time my iMac running 10.5.6 went to sleep by itself. The screen goes off, but it never goes into full sleep by itself. Airport is turned off, I put my cable modem in standby, never sleeps. I read somewhere in another forum that this was a bug with 10.5.6. Is that your experience?

I stopped it from synching from this library which would have wiped out iPad. Have a iMac G5 with built in BT. I used it downstairs yesterday and took it back to the spare room where it usually is used. Fired it up today and I find that the BT mouse is fine BUT it ignores the keyboard. I tried; Replacing batteries. Checked that the suspect keyboard worked on my mac mini (it did). Tried my other BT keyboard on the iMac same problem. So, why does it recognise the mouse but not the keyboard? I do not have a USB Keyboard, so now I cannot Log in to fix it! I am guessing that the pairing has gone BUT surely it would simply see the keyboard as a new one and start setting it up. Something is stopping keyboards working with BT, very strange - could a loose BT module cause this? Or will I have to buy a USB Keyboard now to use my iMac?
