I have the BOSE Companion 5 Speakers connected to my Gaming PC and damn, the sound quality I get with the MacBook with my Bose headphones is amazing. The sound is surprisingly loud and 50% volume too.
View 14 RepliesWhat is the sound quality like on macbooks? I've heard that it's not the greatest and I am prepared for that. I have a 17" dell and it has an unbelievable sound system for a notebook. Is the one of the macbooks really that bad? Anyone just down right frustrated with the quality? I can always get some speakers later too and hook those up when I really wanna crank it. Also when you use your notebook most of the time you will just be listening through your own headphones anyway and I'm sure it's loud through headphones, correct?
View 24 Replies View RelatedThis started happening randomly earlier tonight, and I haven't managed to find a fix just yet.I was encoding a video file for quite awhile (I don't think that parts important, but I thought I'd include it anyway) and then I tried to play a youtube video. I noticed there was no sound, so I tried to up the volume using the Volume Up key on the keyboard. The volume visualisation appeared on the screen like normal (albeit a bit laggy), but the sound still didn't change, neither did I get the usual 'click' noise you get when you change the volume.I went looking into the sound options in the system prefs. only to find that the Output Sound device was headphones. For a test I plugged in some headphones to see what happened and, low and behold, the Output Sound device changed to the Internal Sound and my speakers were working again, but only with the headphones plugged in.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am looking to invest in my first pair of really good headphones. Now I am not a hardcore audiophile but I still like my music to be as clear and correct as possible. With that said I listen to hip hop almost exclusively and love loud booming bass. I know ill get crap for saying this but I actually like the sound of Beats by Dre and I can get the studio model but those things leak sound like crazy, but as far as I've heard their bass is the strongest.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI just bought a 15" MBP last week and got a few apps installed on this machine. And now it looks like I have a problem with the sound. When I use the built-in loud speakers, it is totally fine. But when I plug in the headphones. The left one is bigger than the right one. I check the sound configuration, the balance is put right in the middle (for both built-in loudspeakers and headphones). Therefore, I have to put it 3/4 on the right for the headphones. But I just don't know what is happening with my MBP. I believe probably there are some conflicts between the installed software with the drivers or something, but since it happens for both Mac OS and Windows 7 (Boot Camp), I guess I was wrong then.
View 4 Replies View RelatedMy sound works fine at first, then I plug in my headphones and sound still works but when I pull out my headphones I lose sound in headphones and speakers on my 13" MacBook Pro. Only a reboot (as far as I know) fixes it.

I had to plug in my Macbook Pro into a HDMI cable to watch something on a HD TV and had to switch some settings in the sound settings. Now when I plug in headphones and AUX cords the music still comes out of the internal speakers and the only option in the sounds settings for output are the internal speakers.

When i plug in some headphones or external speakers, it wont get sound to them, just like the headphone jack isn't there and the sound come out from the macbook speakers. The only ones that seem to work are the ipod original ones, but not if insert them completely, they need to be strategically plug in, like half in and half out, and if i move it a bit more the sound goes back to the speakers again. Does anyone knows what this might be and how to fix it? I can't use the warranty, because the warranty time already passed.

I just purchased a new 15" MBP to replace my Late 2007 15" MBP and it seems that the sound quality of the 2007 MBP is better than the 2010...
Anyone else think the sound quality is lacking on the MBP 2010?

i own a MBP 4.1 for about 4 months now or a little less then that, and i imported music form my pc from cds that i ripped with winamp, also i got some albums i bought online from amazon and stuff, and the sound quality is terrible on itunes it sounds thousand times better on, a stream off youtube. every thing that has base on itunes just buzzes.
my friend bought SRS iWOW and i asked him if i could try it out to see if it would work better it just somehow boosted the voices up but the bass still just buzzes. im really thinking of going back to a pc just for my music. my music is my life and if it is buzzy, my mac has no purpose.
For the last two weeks I have been using my new macbook pro. I'm a bit concerned about the sound quality that i get from the speakers. According to specs it has a subwoofer (I know you can't expect much from a tiny laptop) but I still can't really hear any base/low frequencies and it sounds like a tiny cheap transistor radio . The volume is pretty high, I can listen to youtube etc, but its really almost only trebble. I expected a bit more. Is it normal for those macs or is it just mine?
I had Sony Vaio before and then Dell XPS 1530. Sony had way better speakers and even Dell seems to sound a bit less can-like/tiny...
is there are application for better sound quality, maybe something about equalizer or extra detailed sound settings, etc...

I was wondering if it's possible to play sound through the speakers and headphones of a computer simultaneously.
The reason I was wondering if it would work, is because I'm recording a song for school, and I can't hear the backing track through my speakers, but my computer still picks it up. However if i we're to use headphones and my speakers could be playing the same thing at the same time, everything would be fine.
I just got this macbook pro on Saturday and I tried plugging in headphones for the first time today. It's not working, I tried a couple different headphones, nothing. Sound continues to come out the main speakers.

Everything is running perfectly apart from the sound. I think it might an issue with the computers sound card. When I plug my headphones into the audio output jack, no sound comes through... it still plays out of the speakers. The sound is audible, but just barely.
What may be causing this? Are there any specific drivers I need to install?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI am SERIOUSLY considering throwing my PC away and buying an 8-core MP. But I don't know if I will need a better sound card. Sorry, I tried researching this up but I'm still confused.
Is the sound card in the MP good enough? I am not a musician, I just want good fidelity for music, and stereo is all I want. I have a Creative (guess it's the SBLive) today in my PC.
What type of output connectors does the MP have? I saw posts mentioning optical, but I have 2.1 Altec Lansing baffles and I'd like to continue using them. They do NOT have optical input. Just the normal mini-stereo adapter.
I also suppose there is some kind of microphone input somewhere, I need it for skype VOiP (hope it works well on OS X).
I'm having an issue where the sound is playing from the internal speakers and rather not the built in speakers. (The speakers that play the OS X DURRRR and Ear Breaking Memory Beeps) I've tried upgrading the Realtek Audio Drivers from the site and Snow Leopard CD to no success. Does anyone know how to fix this. It's not like this in Vista, but I can't play my games in Vista because I dun have enuff RAM.
