OS X Mavericks :: App Size In System Information Not Same As App Size In Finder?
Jun 4, 2014As you can see from the image above, finder is showing that apps are taking up nearly 30 GB, nearly 25 GB less than system information. What is causing this or which one is the actual size of the apps. It's not as if I'm runing out of space , I'm just a bit curious.

Jun 8, 2012I just purchased a 24" dell monitor to use with my macbook Pro. My Mac does not give me the option of selecting the screen resolution that the Dell monitor says it has (1920x1080). It only allows for 1600x900 at max. This has the effect of the screen not stretching to the full size of the screen.

Apr 16, 2012When I opened safari my homepage was apple and it opened using the middle of the display with the desktop screensaver visable on both sides of the page now it opens adn takes up the whole screen I don't know how to resize it and save it where it will open to the same all the time. I'm a very new owner of an IMAC and to apple so I'm completely in the dark to mac systems and just stumbling around. I'm a 70 year old guy that's ben drug into the 21 century and trying to keep up (not very good )

Aug 29, 2010i have a 13 inch macbook pro, and i want to set the screen size bigger than 1280 * 800, to maybe 1600 * 1200 or something. obviously i cant fit more than 1280 * 800 pixels in the 13 inch MBP screen, but I want it to function as kind of a 'cropped' screen - so i'd have to move my trackpad around the corners of the screen to see more of the desktop. i know it will look like crap and be a bit cumbersome, but i don't really care about that. is there any way to do this?
by the way, i don't NEED the ability to use my trackpad to move around the screen. i don't plan on using my MBP like this permanently, this is just for experimental purposes.

Sep 3, 2009So I was in the Apple Store again yesterday and whilst looking around the different versions of the notebooks it suddenly struck me that, with all things considered, the 13" Macbook Pro isn't really a 'Pro'. It doesn't look or feel very Pro-like especially when you consider the lower spec, tiny screen size, and larger bezel. It really strikes home when you see all the 13", 15", and 17" laid out side-by-side on display. I really think by upgrading the 13" name to 'Macbook Pro' Apple are doing a grave injustice to all the customers who could afford and purchased the real Pros'.

Mi have an IPad 2 that has a 9.5" screen. First off, are both measured corner of screen to corner of screen and does the MacBook have that black border surrounding the screen like the iPad 2 does? I'm tired of Windows, pc computers constantly slowing down every year (even though I have anti virus, anti spyware, and defrag my hard drive every few months). I can't afford a 15" MacBook,pro,like I'd like so I'm stuck with a 13". Is that too small? How would you compare it to an iPad screen? I'm happy using my iPad for Internet browsing,emails, and apps, but don't think I would like a screen this small for intensive projects like typing long papers or things of that nature. I initially got an iPad bevause I thought it be cheaper for college but I found I need certain programs that you can't get for the iPad in some of y classes. I hope the 13" screen isn't too small.

Jul 7, 2010Macbook Pro 17" Text size issue with High Resolution screen. Just got a Macbook Pro 17 that I love except for one thing - text size on many programs. I understand the reason for it and I did not want a 15 inch as I tend to work with multiple programs at once. I am not tied to an office so that rules out buying an external screen, So I have been trying to find solutions that makes working with in different programs less of a strain on my eyes. Here are some of the workarounds I have found to programs I use and programs that I have had no luck with. And please it is not a problem with eyesight as this seems to be a common problem for many owners. I like to sit well back from my screen not 2 inches away! Address Book Set the font size to large in preferences
Mail. This is the big one. It is easy to set the default font to a larger size and that helps with incoming mail. Or you can add a small/larger button with the customize toolbar option but there is no fix for outgoing mail. I write a lot of mail so by the end of the day I am squinting and I do not want to send all my mail in jumbo text. Here is the only fix that I found that I like. I would use it in my freetime and not for work.. Dec 29, 2010I'm new to IMac and I did a quick search and found nothing. I got an IMac less than 24hrs ago. With the IMac I find that I struggle to read things even with my glasses on. Is there any possible way of changing the system font so I can make it larger? Trying to read things on the imac is actually giving me a headache because my eyes are straining so much.
I'm using FireFox which is great because once you make the page larger (cmd & +) it remembers so when you go back there the page is still large and readable but things like the toolbar is unreadable. Some sites I've been on even with the page zoomed in some of the writing remains tiny and unreadable. I have the 27" IMac and to have the toolbar font so small on such a big screen seems very silly to me because it's unreadable.

Now, I find that on the system 'disk' partition, there is a lot of space I don't really need, and could use in the other partition. I find that I can shrink the system partition, but can't expand the second partition to use the extra space.

Jan 5, 2011I've been reading this site for a while now, first time I'm posting. I recently purchased 8 GB of RAM for my 2010 13" MBP. There are two 4 GB DDR3 PC3-10500 1333mhz sticks. When I install them in the laptop my computer does not get past the apple logo boot screen (the spinning disc freezes). However, I can boot into Windows (boot camp) without issues.
Also, when I pair either of the 4 GB sticks with one of my old 2 GB stock sticks the laptop boots up fine in OS X. The system profiler registers it as 6 GB of 1067 mhz RAM (the stock sticks are 1067 mhz)

Mar 16, 2012My white 17" intel imac screen is about 60% covered with the vertical line problem, ive tried openeing it and blowing air through it, in hopes it was just some crazy dust accumulation, and smc fan control, but its getting worse by the week. i have a g5 imac 17" with a perfect screen, but a dead HD so i dont use it,can i get my G5 screen taken out and put into my intel? id think it would be possible since their the same same size screen for the same type of imac unless the the inner connections, placement etc. is different between the two.
